Opinions on DHH crosses for jumping?

If by “issues” you mean horses without nutritional deficiencies, then by all means, yes, carry on.

This equine nutritionist had almost bitten her tongue off trying not to react to the absurdly false claims being made about feeding growing horses…

I will, though, point out that RFV is a calculated value based on the fiber content of a hay. It is used by cattle producers to predict the ad-libitum intake of a particular forage. It provides no information whatsoever about the quality of a forage as far as amino acid, mineral, or vitamin content goes. Ergo, it isn’t a number that we equine nutritionists pay attention to at all when it comes to balancing rations.

Ok.

But how do you ensure their needs are met with respect to sufficient vitamins and minerals for growing bones?

Also, please describe your worming program.

When I look at photos of your young stock, I see babies with no top lines, but who also have ribs showing, and rounded bellies in some picture. Not to mention poor quality coats. That immediately concerns me in terms of possible heavy parasite loads. Young stock have specific needs when it comes to parasite management- their immune systems have not yet developed. Neglecting to control parasites in young stock can lead to serious issues, including colic.

I hope you consult with a veterinarian and can me up with a plan to address nutritional deficiencies in your program, but also… to address potential heavy parasite burdens.

It is abundantly clear that whatever Kate Shearer is feeding her horses is not enough to keep them healthy and she is either too ignorant to see it, or she just doesn’t care.

All the nutritional advice in the world will not be used to help these horses as long as they are owned by Kate (Kathryn) Shearer. All we can hope for is that the poor beasts will find new homes where they will be properly managed.

There is no excuse. None.

I am still pondering that she thinks we don’t know quality hay in the midwest.

What a surprise it is to see that her most recent fb comment is another about herself … one of her “I work my butt off”, sorry for herself posts.

For “the truth to prevail” @Kasheare you can start by explaining the heartbreaking photos shown in this thread. Justify them, if you will.

This one breaks my heart. How long was this poor mare left there with the dead foal that there is feces on it?

Laminitic and in pain, in a filthy stall. It’s horrifying.

Okay you know what, let’s get down to business. Why you mentioned Sarahs name here when she has never once said yours or spoken about this on social media is beyond me. She has once replied to your very twisted comment about paying her back for the filly where you failed to mention you wanted the filly back if you did so. Sarah offered the filly back to you before taking possession of her (before knowing the shape she was in) and you didn’t have the money. You even said so to her, so what has changed? Also this hay you say is so great, the vet that came and saw the filly (and gave her a body score of TWO) said it wasn’t appropriate hay for her to be fed and to stop feeding it to her immediately. Too high in protein content and could cause issues. Kate you need to pay Sarah back the board, you took this filly to at least three different places for boarding in her short life and we know at every place you went, you were told she looked skinny. We know this because people talk and they have a lot to say about you. Every.Single.Person other than yourself is to blame about the situations you put your animals in. I get making a mistake here and there but you are pretty consistent. The gig is up and you need to make things right. OH, and those pics you said Sarah has that proves the first pics are an exaggeration, I saw them…they are dark and you can’t make the fillies body out. Stop with the false narrative, you are just making a fool of yourself at this point.

Definitely needs a QFP. Probably a screenshot too

Not a surprise in the least.

I know, right? My hay guy is a dairy farmer. I can’t feed the rounds he feeds to his dairy cows, because it is INAPPROPRIATE for horses. I buy 3 different grades of hay depending on the needs of the horses I board, and am the daughter of a hay farmer in another state.

The idea I don’t know hay is patently absurd, and also the idea that these mares were fed quality hay at the rate she claims is patently false. These pictures, over and over, are worth a million words.

While I appreciate your wise suggestion, I believe that ship has sailed. It’s out of the harbor and over the horizon.

Well, it is either that (which is what I believe too) or Kate has the unlucky experience of owning all very hard keepers which can not stay healthy on good hay and she some how has not managed to notice that yet so she can feed them some hard feed.

I’ve dealt with one or two Kate Shearer types in my life and what I learned is that they will NEVER admit fault, no matter how much evidence is presented. They also seem to manage to keep some number of followers and apologists who keep the false narrative alive. Their entire life story is made up of gaslighting.

The problem is they truly believe they are right and everyone else is wrong - they LITERALLY cannot see or understand the difference between fantasy and reality. It is an extreme form of NPD coupled with delusional disorder - a serious mental health issue - and the person usually continues in a downward spiral because they cannot and will not acknowledge the condition and will not seek or accept medical help or counseling. Drugs and/or alcohol are also frequently in the picture, which exacerbates the problem. Sometimes (often) the delusions become so strong, the person becomes violent or otherwise runs afoul of the law, and it usually takes a serious issue involving LE and the court system to force the person into the care of a mental health professional.

It is very sad and tragic that this particular person will likely continue to avoid punitive action by LE because she is mistreating “only” animals.
