I think so. Unless one of the other US riders pulls out, Karl won’t ride in the individual final. He’ll be replaced by the next eligible rider below him that isn’t also three-per-country’d out of the finals.
Makes sense!!
That’s what I think.
Yes. Assuming the other three Americans’ horses are fit and ready to continue, Karl won’t go through and his place will go to the next eligible person below him.
Yesterday I thought Mexico needed to qualify. Then on today’s CMH broadcast, right before the first horse went in, they said Mexico and Brazil were already qualified. So I’m completely confused on that, but glad the US is (finally!) qualified regardless! I would like to see Mexico’s team there, they have some great horses and riders right now.
OK, the funniest part of that little closing package they showed at the end of the live stream was the person standing next to McLain on the podium, reminding him to hold his prize up in the air with the rest of them. Lol.
The ClipMyHorse page has the individual final round listed for Friday at 9:55, which was the same start time they had listed for today. So I’m guessing the round is supposed to start at 10 AM Eastern.
Guatemala’s NOC was suspended by the IOC last year so athletes from Guatemala can’t compete under their flag and instead compete as “PanAM Sports Independent Athletes.”
That’s because he was chatting with an attractive female Canadian rider.
Wow! Thanks
I wonder if there was some crazy story behind Karl’s bad round: like a bug flew in his eye (or something like that). There’s got to be a weird explanation. Congrats to him for his great comeback!
I love this quote from McLain in all three of these articles posted - "“The fact that it took us so long to qualify needs to bring it to our attention that we can’t rest on a good week here, that we have some work to be done to be prepared for Paris and go against the world’s best.”
Does anyone know if the individual finals can be watched on demand? Looks like starts at 7am PST and we’d like to do a barn viewing party in the afternoon. Clipmyhorse.tv seems to only have clips from the previous days so I would assume the same for tomorrow. I wouldn’t be opposed to paying if that’s what made it happen
It looked to me like I was able to watch the whole thing on ClipMyHorse on demand yesterday. There was also the option to select specific rounds if I didn’t want to watch the whole thing.
I will say I did go back and watch Karl Cook’s round from the first day since I did not get a chance to see it live.
Holy cow. That was something.
When there are multiple articles that have the same quote, I figure it came from the press conference, and whoever puts together each different article decides which things to include.
Clearly everybody who put together an article thought that was a pretty pertinent comment from him.
