I found this list of past results…looks like last Canada team gold was 1991!

Wow.

U.S. riders just perfectly demonstrated what can happen when you ride overly protective rounds. Not a pretty final day, especially for Sharon & Liz.

Love hearing Geoff Morgan doing the Spanish announcing! I will miss his voice over the loudspeakers at Will O Wind (he and his wife have retired from hosting events in Ontario)

Colleen had the only clear round under the time!

That was a disappointing finish for the US team. I hope that Caroline Pamucku is in the running for the US Olympic team. She’s done well and seems to have a bevy of high quality horses.

The wheels sure fell off for the Americans today, geez.

Huge congrats to Team Canada!

Didn’t see that coming for Team USA at all. Eventing is tough. Their first two phases were fantastic. Glad they all got the experience of representing the US. Hope Caroline gets picked for Paris. She’s proven herself over and over again. Congrats to Canada on team gold. Congrats to the US ladies as well.

Did I read the results correctly. Mics master C had three down?

Yes, Liz and Sharon both had multiple rails in the middle of the course. Their difficulties were so similar it occurred to me that they might be riding the same plan; unfortunately, it didn’t work out for either of them.

A little sad the US women couldn’t maintain their domination in all three phases, but it did work out with a nice distribution of both team and indiviidual medals - glad Canada and Brazil punched their Paris tickets.

I hate to be the Debbie downer and I’m so pleased that Caroline won, but her “rail” was moving up to a distance that didn’t exist at a big oxer, and her lovely horse basically going through and demolishing the jump. It would have been a scary rotational fall if it wasn’t the kind of jump that came down.

It was a rough day all around for the team and I hope they all get to spend a lot more time with a good show jumping coach now that they’ve made a team.

She’s 29 and she’s riding an 8 year old at her first ever big championship. Give her a break… she won individual gold on a horse she’s produced all they way.

I think she’s a great talent for the future. Have for a while. I don’t think wiping out a jump and calling it a “rail” is an accurate representation of what happened, and I think she got very lucky that the horse didn’t stop or fall going through the jump.

Sure- but people don’t say that about Pippa Funnell’s win at Burghley in 2019 when she crashed through that vertical. Regardless of how dramatic it looks, it is just a rail on paper. I’m sure she has a lot of takeaways from that moment that will server her well in the future.

Again, 29-year old rider, first championship, riding an 8-year old that just stepped up to advanced this year, going in last at a championship where your team has completely given away a massive lead, no rail in hand to keep team gold… that is A LOT of pressure.

Caroline is usually a incredibly accurate rider. I don’t know that she ever misses. Sometimes it just happens. Your eye is a bit long after X-country the day before, the horse is a bit tired after, and what you think might be the move forward to a deep distance doesn’t work out that way. Boyd had a similar chaotic moment on Thomas earlier this year. I think it will be far easier for Caroline to correct that moment then it will be for some of the other riders to figure out what went wrong in their rounds.

Paris Olympics. If I remember correctly, it is the same cross country designer as the recent European championships in France. Technical and big. USA needs to pick a team where each has done a five star.

The Pan Ams had the same French designer as will be building Paris.

HSH Blake looked erratic the entire SJ round and was maybe a bit wild eyed at the atmosphere. Good for Caroline on the win, but the round didn’t look like it gave anyone involved warm fuzzies.
