Pandemic splurge?

Hi y’all… It’s been a long, wet cold winter at the end of a stressful pandemic year. Was thinking about treating myself to something to have something to look forward to. What would be your favorite horsey related splurge?

For background, been riding jumpers for 20+ years, taking a kinda forced break from showing due to having two human toddlers at the moment. Leasing a super Irish jumper that does the low adults. Have a bit of mom bod, 5’7", 170# and take regular lessons.

Help me come up with something to get out of my parenting funk!

I like LeMieux pads as a nice pick me up gift to moi!

Currently, I just splurged in some trackhoe work at my new horse property lol

I’m also 5’7, rocking the mom bod and 170# on a good day. I had to babies back to back. Have a toddler and a 4 month old. Took a hiatus from riding, then ended up having babies.

I bought some nice riding tights from smartpak with my first and some larger clothes all around.

How about some really nice breeches? Some wild, fancy colors, full seat and comfy that you will rock at the barn with the mom bod!

At the ripe age of 27, my next splurge is an air vest…looking into the Helite.

If I could, and will probably at some point this year, I want Tucci’s and a KASK star lady. Even though I have perfectly good Parlanti’s and samshield…

Edited to add: I’m also a mom! A helmet won’t not fit if you gain/lose weight  also a reason I’m getting an air vest.

I got boots, I’ll know in a few days if they fit :crossed_fingers:t4:

I am coveting a high end bridle at the moment

Normally I cheap out on stuff - I just don’t often feel that a high(er) end option is justified even though I generally like the idea of buying less, higher quality stuff that lasts. But during the pandemic I’ve upgraded several pieces of tack with brands/products that are higher priced but a much better value. Pretty much just a function of having a lot more time on my hands to obsess about it and window shop!

Not just a yearling, a very freaking cute yearling!

I also splurge on the Lemieux pads. I’m sorta addicted to them, but they work great for my horses.

I started up a project horse belonging to my coach!

Thank you for being the brave one to ask this question. This might describe me too.

I’ve bought several saddles during this pandemic. Picking up another one tonight for my young filly who is “big” enough for her first high end saddle

Custom Deniros or anything from Aisling Equestrian. Or, how about an Oglivey pad in leather? Oh… Barbour coat.

I always say do a great new helmet or boots if you need them - they’re the gear you spend the most time in, so it’s worth having ones you love!

Beyond that… I always want new breeches and am dying for a swanky new half pad and air vest. And new stirrups; I have a nice pair but think I’d prefer something lighter.

I also bought a disgustingly expensive Butet phone holder to go on my belt after a wine or two… but it makes feel feel fancy as hell and it’s way better than the Black Knight one I was using before!

I’m about to order myself a new pair of custom half chaps. The zipper on my pair busted last week (the metal part of the pull sheered completely apart) and at first I was just going to mail them off to have the zipper fixed but then I decided that 14 years is a good long run for a pair of half chaps and a new pair is in order. They’re going to be a belated 40th birthday present to myself, as well as my prize for surviving a year of nonsense. I’m even gonna take a personal day off of work to drive down and get measured instead of doing it during the weekend, so that means glorious alone time in my car. If I’m doing this, I’m doing it right

Thank you! I felt like my under-amused face with unrepentant burrito was due for a change. It’s been my FB cover photo for a while.

Check the Sporthorse forum asking what size halter I should get, I have several pictures in there. To, you know, judge what size halter she needs  She was definitely a pandemic splurge, every year I use my tax return for a needed or splurge item (zero turn mower, new couch, freeze dryer). This year, baby horse
