Parelli makes Dressage saddles? Say What?

Actually the Dover looks like a deeper seat. But it doesn’t have red piping.

Oh - it hits you in the knee cap…

(vs. a well placed thigh block that… blocks the thigh)
To be fair, for those of us who are not gifted with endless, slim legs, we will likely never look like the second rider, in any saddle.

Yes but… the Parelli saddle is custom made to the rider’s length! And that rider in the Peperoni saddle looks pretty tall and slim to me. She would have to be 6’6" to have a leg long enough to get her knee past the thigh block/

And even those with shorter legs - should have a thigh block on the thigh, not on the knee cap. - see, here as well.

looks pretty nice, actually. Of course at that $ price point could buy or custom make many options.

I know people love to knock Parelli and perhaps they deserve it, but I will admit I own some of their NH equipment, halter, lead rope, Cstick , (I actually did it back in the day …) The equipment is very sturdy and well made, not cheap or flimsy

they need to show underside and other views of saddle. Would be interesting to hear if anyone has ever ridden in one!

You guys are a hard sell.

But I’m not buying until I’ve seen Linda demo it doing “the most rigorous dressage manoeuvres at the highest level”.

It is called commercial espionage when one take all the good bits from someone else’s research and modes it into your own.

I write for a living and have to say that whoever wrote their copy for this ad did something that is unintentionally funny. I have to get all technical on you, but here ya go…

Copy says: for people who love to ride “English”

I’m sure they meant those quotes to be for emphasis, but they misused them, so it’s irony. So this statement actually means whoever rides in the saddle is riding sort of English. How appropriate is that considering the context???

They also do that with “grippy” (so I guess it isn’t) and “twist” (so I guess it isn’t).

Reference: http://news.distractify.com/people/the-30-most-unnecessary-uses-of-quotation-marks-in-history/

ETA: Looking at some of the other copy, we’ve got saddles that are “rommier” too. Beats me! LOL!

I think the price for their stuff is ridiculous, as is the wait time. IMHO of course.
The infomercial has a blinking idiot using air quotes, cheezy smile and lots of home grown “wit”.
I bet you can find this saddle at half the price under a different name. It is like most things, different “brands” from the same manufactory, same model.
Oh no, you aren’t actually supposed to sit in Parelli saddles. You just admire them from the ground while you do the Parelli games :D
Ah you’re so right lmao! I was blinded by its prettiness that didn’t even cross my mind

Sad thing is, as crazy as it looks (and besides the RIDICULOUS price) I bet it would fit my crazy mile-long legs quite well  My coach is always hounding me to use those doggone legs and I seem to have a heck of a time doing it correctly in some saddles I’ve tried. Maybe I’m just a weirdo.

sigh …the search for the perfect-fit (budget and body wise) dressage saddle for RRMB still continues…
I imagine they’ll have a team of “Natural flockers” too?
Elkie, didn’t you know? Everyone gets flocked.

there’s a saddle for every ass…

I actually coughed when I saw the listed price of the saddle.
The member price is $5,400.
The non-member price is $6,750.

It looks like a $2,000.00 saddle with a jacked up price tag because it has the Pepperoni logo on it. Now maybe if it had Charlotte Dujardin’s name on it…But seriously, it’s a knock off of someone else’s saddle (PDS maybe that I believe is made in Argentina) that you can have the flap/blocks customized and get colored piping. Colored piping is in right now. I wonder how many people I will see riding Intro in this next year,

OMG!! That is the saddle I just bought! I feel speshul now…AND…Got Gullets!! Lotsa gullets too!!

Hey now. I ride Training (poorly, most days) in a Hennig. I hope people aren’t judging me…

Website says the saddle is made n England, probably in Walsall where a lot of semi custom and custom saddles are made… Is it worth the price? Who knows. at their price point there are a number of companies that make custom saddles, they measure here in the US and send to England to be made.

As far as big name riders lending their name to saddles…do riders test and ride and get involved in the saddle? Ur, anybody notice they themselves rarely if ever ride the saddles off the shelf their name is on in competition?

Since I am a small person (five foot two), several years ago I bought a Debbie McDonald Debbie Special, supposedly designed for smaller people. I have no idea if she ever sat in the saddle…it appeared proportioned for a smaller person, but minute one rode it was all wrong for a short person. The flaps were short, but forward balanced, and it had a very wide twist, long flat spot in seat that went on forever, and put me in a chair seat. My five foot nine trainer loved riding in it though. After struggling for a year I sold it ( and the leather had faded from black to brown where the stain rubbed off, though I will say the leather itself was nice and soft). I dont’ know if big name dressage riders lending their names to saddles are any better…maybe in a few cases they are ?

I didn’t realize that PP’s followers even needed a saddle…I guess they do ride once in a while…I’ve only see their western one which looked very well made…but my friend who wanted one decided to buy a car instead…about the same price…

Silly CFFarm - its not for riding. Its for looking at. You can put it in your living room on a stand and point to it at social gatherings. Or, you can put it in your tack room with a cover on it.

Ridiculous but lucky for them there are lots of stupid people who will buy it.

I actually have a Superwide dressage saddle as it is one of the few saddles that fits my horse’s fat butt. I feel as if it is well made and it is super comfy for me and my horse. I did buy it used from someone off the Internet as I cannot afford the new saddles. I am hoping that this saddle will last me a long time.

I think the saddle is tipped forward in the picture. Note the underside of the panels near the cantle slant up rather than look horizontal. That makes it hard to see the true shape of the seat. If it had a long working center and a gentle rise up to the pommel I might like it. But I can’t tell from the picture.

The Parellis aren’t the only ones to have made this mistake with saddle photographs. It always bums me out when anyone photographs a saddle without regard to how it would sit on a horse’s back. That just makes my saddle-buying job harder/more expensive.

Madakat, what brand of saddle do you have?

It is maddening that so many saddle makers show one shot of their saddle, a sideways shot, and that is it. Nothing more, on a 3k-6k product.
