Parelli makes Dressage saddles? Say What?

Countrywood - I have the Parelli Superwide. And Linda Parelli does ride in this saddle. One thing about them is that if their name is on it they are using it.

When I read the headline, before looking at the saddle, I expected, well, a less is more type of saddle; given that it won’t be used very much. But evidently they are pooping money and glitter now…good for them.

It is very snazzy, lacking practicality, but very snazzy. I tend to buy my saddles used, then having my fairy god mother saddle fitter take them down to the tree and build them back up to my horse for around $300. Perhaps, in a few years when I see one of these in my size range in the $500 ebay market, I’ll pick one up and give it an “official” review, :stuck_out_tongue:

Neither of those assurances give most people on this forum the good impression that they seem to give to you…

There’s a “Fluidity” in the tack room at my barn right now. Apparently they only come in 2 tree sizes because you shim them (with special PP pad) and they’ll fir “any” horse. This allows for shoulder movement to be “free”. I dont get it.

As far as quality goes, I guess it’s okay. It’s not buttery soft in the least but also doesn’t have they same quality as a County or SW. I’m sure it will hold up to some amount of work with care, but I’d not expect this leather to last forever. It’s decent but nothing special.

The design itself is insane to me. The saddle is literally like 2 feet wise across the gullet. The cantle is totally circular. Hard to describe but it’s like looking down at a barstool. The lowest point in the saddle is way way back and the twist is about 2-3 fingers wide. I don’t see how anyone could get their legs under them in it. Reviews say it’s quite comfortable, though. Maybe as a terribly expensive trail saddle?

Notice that the saddle is “custom made for you” and asks the rider’s height, weight, inseam - oh the horse? oh yeah… the horse, well the tree comes in standard and “super wide”!! Because you know, it makes sense to have a saddle “custom made” with zero consideration for the horse you will be putting it on [/QUOTE] They must have taken saddle fitting advice from these people… http://www.nationalbridle.com/saddles-s/33.htm Note “The Truth about Saddle Fitting” down the page. The saddle is made FOR YOU, the horse… well, the horse can deal with it"
