Thanks M!
UPDATE:

from:

[/B]Peggy Mathews and Margaret Smith:

“We got in to see Patti. She is out of the coma but still on the ventilator and sleeping. She recognized our voices and stirred around and opened her eyes several times. Our goal is to get that ventilator out tomorrow. Keep the prayers coming.”[/QUOTE]

This is very positive news. She’s a lovely gal and will keep her in my prayers.

Big jingles and hoping for a speedy recovery for Patti!

UPDATE:

Margaret and Peggy cornered the doc. He said that Patti will most likely be going to rehab next. Possibly Shepherd. If you want to send cards, no flowers, here is the address: Columbus Regional Hospital 710 Center St., Columbus, GA 31904.

There was no real change from last night, maybe some more eye openings. The nursing staff is wonderful with Patti.

I asked about the MRI from yesterday, and was told that it is normal–nothing that requires surgery—just time to heal.

Great news! Sending more jingles:)

LetItBe

If she goes to Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta, she will get get rehab service. I’ve had a half dozen friends over the years who were patients there. And if Dr. Don Leslie is still chief there, he will make sure she is well taken care of. It’s right in Atlanta.

Thanks for the Good News update ~ Jingles & AO for Patti ~

Fabulous!!

Wonderful news! And yes, The Shepherd Center is a great place for her to do rehab.

As of 2 hours ago… The doc said her response was not sufficient enough. So, Patti remains on the ventilator.

Healing thoughts headed her way.

In my prayers and sending my best wishes. Speedy and complete recovery.

Oh my gosh…thanks for posting, OP. I am in Tallahassee and know Patty, but I hadn’t heard until I saw this thread. Jingles for her and Bobby.

Try not to be alarmed. A year ago – almost to the day – my sister suffered a traumatic brain injury (cardiac arrest shut down her brain and brain death was feared). They used hypothermia to reduce brain swelling and she was on life support for over 2 weeks. The vent was a big deal and did take some time before they could take it out. I was with her almost 24/7 for the duration.

But it DID come out, and her recovery progressed amazingly fast after that…and she was home a month later! Of course, she had a lot of rehab – mostly for cognitive issues.

But today, one would never know this ever happened to her. She has some very mild cognitive dysfunction, but unless you knew her intimately you’d never even notice.

From what is going on, and my own experience, I feel VERY, VERY positive for Patti. She’ll rock back from this in no time! In the meantime, it’s hard for loved ones. My prayers are with them too.

Continued hopes and good wishes.

I hope that you can send her our well wishes and that someone will say to her “in person” that we are all pulling for her.

Staying on the vent also allows her body (brain) to continue to heal without having to work so hard. When she’s ready!

Prayers.

Continuing to pray and jingle

Today’s update:

Patti is responding to Bobby’s voice, and Bobby Jr. should be with her today also. This should help her too!
The Chronicle did a nice article about her accident as well. Nice as in nicely written

Morning update:

Patti made significant progress Sat afternoon. More alert and responsive. Will be taken off ventilator this morning!!!

Wonderful News!!
