Paul valliere
I have just one question for you…

Have YOU ever asked Paul to explain the story as to why this happened? Is your assumptions that the reason was financial your own idea based on what you’ve read, or heard, thirdhand?

I do very much respect anyone for standing up and supporting what they believe in…provided, its a well informed opinion, and it is their own.

Its hard to consider a party’s platform when its based on third party information, and supported by a band of disciples who resort to name calling and personal attacks…

Please, lets keep this discussion based on firsthand knowledge of the accused, as well as limiting personal attacks to those we are acquainted with personally…
I do not believe I have ever met the man. But I am able to read the news papers, I do believe that Time mag( maybe it was another weekly news mag that the family suscribed to at the time we at the time werw recieveing newsweek, time, us news and world report and one other that I can not recall) had an article on it, the network news ( not cable news), Read the book, read the other aticles available on the 'what happened and the who’s of involvment of the crime". and I am able to comprehend what I read as well. I have been able to do both from about the age of mmm 8 or 9…maybe younger would have to ask my father what age I was when he started bringing home books for me to read from The Ohio State University Library for me to read but it was while I was in early elementary school.

I would not train with or allow any of those involved to handle any of my animals or pay them to teach me how to do a thing. By doing so I am telling them I know what you did and it is ok with me. Heck I change cell phone companies because of the connection between G. Lindeman JR and the one I had. Even after that particular cell phone company at least where I live went under and was bought out by another company I still will not do business with that particular company.

Those who choose to pay him are saying " it is ok you said you were sorry and all is ok now." But it is not ok Sorry doesn’t fix it. He is sorry because he got caught.

I used the same logic just put it as though the horse was a human and I was PV same logic diffrent ‘animals’…

And not all murders of humans get out some actaully die in prison either by natural causes or by the state.

And yeah perhaps he should make a living by flippin burgers… If they would hire him…
But at this point, I just see a man who F@#$^ed up…BIG…and who actually IS SORRY…and HAS been paying the price for his crime, and will be until the end of time, who has asked for the chance to make amends.

.
please. probation and a fine is hardly “paying” for this crime IMO, he got lucky. And I don’t see how he is paying for it until the end of time. I’m sure Mr. V is doing just fine.
Perhaps she meant “recognition” or “award-winning”? I guess that’s not much better but it sounds a little more sensible.
Wow, you people are brutal. Its like you all look for typos, and twisted meanings to further attack anyone who does not support your ticket.

I meant neither.

I merely meant that I am coached my USEF members, who are welcome at any show.

The last time this trainwreck rolled through here, I was subjected to personal attacks, as well as harrassing e-mails to my personal account. I certainly respect any of you, and the choices you have made…I dont care who you choose to train with, My only wish is that you are a fair competitor.

You can certainly be pleased with yourself to some extent…I no longer wish to partake in this ‘discussion’, as I find the name calling, and attacks on my character to be downright childish. So, to that extent, you have won.

Good Luck.

The thing is though, he doesn’t even care if he’s re-instated or not. He probably still wouldn’t go to the shows because of all the controversy anyway.
This would appear to be a direct violation of GR704.4d
Well, no one at WEF or HITS has filed a complaint about it.
Anyway, ACRES WILD is not suspended, Paul is.
Oh, for pity’s sake.

I used to know a girl who had a horse she adored who would regularly threaten him with a can of Alpo (literally–she had one in her tack trunk, and would pull it out and wave it in his general direction.)

In the immortal words of Foghorn Leghorn, “It was a joke, son.”
And I often refer to mine as “Stainless Steel Appliances and New Cherry Cabnets.” Some have even taken to calling him “Stovetop.” I’ve only actually thought of killing him once or twice;)
So how come his students can compete?.
Most of his students have multiple trainers who sign the horse show entries.

why have rules if they are so easy to bend IMO

Whatever ones opinion of PV, for or against, doesn’t change the stench when his name comes up.

Just imagine, if that was YOUR horse he had electrocuted.

The more talented a trainer - the worse a crime he committed.

And sad to say that if the words were uttered with no other behaviours to back up the queasy feeling that comment gave me i.e. routinely drugging lame and unruly horses so her clients could ride them in a lesson, deliberately over-jumping a horse with obvious medical problems and a whole host of other nasty antics… then I guess it would have been a cute joke.
It’s statements like this that just make me wonder…

ANY horse owner can destroy their ‘property’ without permission. In fact, it’s wasn’t that PV had the horse electrocuted…it was that he tried to commit insurance fraud using the USPS.
Noticing that the poster is in CA…Just in case there is anyone out there in CA who takes this statement seriously, I’d start reading the animal protection/cruelty code, hmm, from about Section 594 onwards, to understand exactly how your right to kill your horse are qualified by the law. Property rights are not 100 percent of the law, and nor should they be - as the subject of this thread demonstrates.

snort!

And, may I admit publicly, that I have an ALPO bumper sticker on my trailer…and when I got it, to my great glee, from the Alpo Balloon people at the New Mexico Balloon Festival, they had a sadly puzzled look when I asked if I could take a few and told them why. Seems I was the FOURTH horse person that day alone to react the same way ;-). And I did slap one of those stickers on his butt at my lesson after the Medal Finals where I was eliminated because he would NOT jump the log - not a real jump, 'ya know (ok, pilot error, but still…).

My horse is affectionately called PorkButt, and sometimes I change the final “h” on Ash to an “s” and call him that, too. I have been known to explain to him that there are alternate career options, including dinner in Belgium and I don’t mean as an honored guest. BUT…that is simply not the same as having him murdered for money…

Humor, people.

You get the $100 back if your protest is upheld. it is to prevent people filing “frivolous” protests.

I do think it’s different when the owner says “you are gonna be alpo” than when a 3rd party, even a close one, makes a comment about the horse being crap.

I tell mine all the time “I’m gonna beat you” or “do that again and you’ll be dog food” but it’s always said with a smirk and it’s funny because anyone who knows me knows I’d never keep those promises. My horse included…could be why I have to keep reminding him!

My trainer has made comments about horses she trains-“bad dog”, “pinhead”, “pig”, “rude cow” etc. But she tends to only make those comments about the horses she really really likes. It’s usually their ground manners that get her using those names not their under saddle behavior. However, she calls them that or tells their owners that’s what they are but she doesn’t stand around gossiping with others using those references. She has for horses that deserved it (and I mean really deserved it)–and let’s face it, there are some that are worthy of such titles–but on some level the name calling is a level of affection.

The biggest thing to remember is that the horses don’t know what we mean - therefore it is almost always funny.

I think trainwreck is a little strong. Nobody has pulled any punches, but most folks have played nice. Actually I think this thread has been pretty positive overall, except for the person who called you an unconscienable slag or whatever it was (it was funny, although not very nice IMHO). I think it has been a pretty productive discussion generally, which suprised me too, sometimes these PV threads get pretty ugly real fast.

but I guess when maybe one other person agrees with you, and most think you have character issues I can see why you would think it’s an attack and a train wreck, and take your ball and go home.

A very wise person once told me, “If one person thinks you’re being an ass, don’t sweat it. But if a lot of people are telling you you’re being an ass, it’s time to buy a saddle.” Think about it.

But overall this has been a good thread and a good opportunity to educate those who were unaware of the evil among us.

I think that some of the people who posted here must have been drunk!!:D:lol:

How about I take out a policy on his life and take him out in a nice disgusting manner? A bit much? Well that would be the least of my fury if anything so horrifying happened to my horse.

It sickens me when people spend every minute of their lives and their every last dollar trying to give their horse the best life because they love them so much, and for good reason…and then you have these people like said trainer who have it all, a barn full of horses a job training etc – and its still not enough for them they need more!! More money in this case…how broke can you be with a stable of horses, even one horse.

This was a disgusting, greedy and shameless act. Regardless of how long ago it was or what he is doing now the fact is HE DID WHAT HE DID all because he was only thinking about HIMSELF. Anyone who murders a horse, does not care about them, any real horselover will agree. He cares that a horse is lame? ya right, he cares that that horse wont be able to be leased/do lessons/grant him commission WHATEVER.

There are TONNES of good trainers out there, trainers who cry when their horses pass away, not wait for the check in the mail. How important is winning to someone if it means the life of one horses life rests on you, your trainer. Even if it is only one horse, it is one too many for me. A defensless animal who relys and trusts you, loves you and gives you everything you ask of it. Love your horse, dont hurt it, and dont ever support those who do. I bet if some there was some random news story about a horse being killed for money EVERYONE would be saying “disgusting, inforgiveable”…pvs supporters have left their flymasks on at night and are lost in the dark. IMO.

Hey it got so bad with my first horse that when I would sign up for classes the show sect ( bless her heart) would ask " Are we showing under real name or Alpo today??" And when it was a early entry and I would go in to pick up packet she would ask " Are we Chili Or Alpo this Week?" My mare was not known for her nice smooth manerly way of going around the courses… dispite what the rule book said… guess she never read it…
