Paul valliere
Then where did IrishRider find it?
Word of mouth possibly or just simple logic. I’ve certainly gotten things from casual conversation with those who work at the USEF on a daily basis. I would go 50/50 either way but we all know it’s in his best interest to push for reinstatement and he has some BNR/BNTs doing exactly that for him to give the idea that they believe he’s worthy of it without him whining about it. At the top levels, we all know that getting certain people to endorse you means a big boost to your reputation no matter how shitty it is. You of all people know the USEF policy (in fact I daresay you know all the policies off the top of your head) is to keep stuff like that internal for both liability and PR purposes. They can’t just come out and say “Yeah we’ll let you back in Paulie. Give us a hug.” because that would be a PR disaster and they’d have people bitching to high heaven. On the other hand, they can’t say “DENIED!” in public because that kinda opens up the can of worms that could lead to allegations in court that the USEF is being unfair and slanderous because they believe he is an awful human being. Until the organizations issue a statement that says the reinstatement process is underway or it has ended in whatever outcome it gets, all we can do is speculate. I tell you this though, if and when it does happen, nobody will likely know about it and the USEF will say that nobody needed to know because it was an internal matter.

But IrishRider said

That said, Mr. Valliere, whom I do not know, and would certainly not base riding with or not from reading these threads, has applied for reinstatement and was turned down by the USEF. With all the information all of you appear to possess, as a foreigner, I am quite shocked that no one has mentioned it yet.

That implies that he is not in the US- probably in Ireland. And implies that is is common knowledge. Was it reported in the Irish press but not here. I am intrigued.

MAYBE he is in the US with an inside track to the USEF, but it doesn’t sound that way.

Ah, you’re missing one of the best PV threads ever. The PV=nRT thread. Now that one took a different…and refreshing track. Wonder if it’s still out there.

It is. I read it the other day when I was reading the other threads. The whole gas thing was kinda funny.

Technically, he’s paid his debt to society but morally, I could never support someone who abused animals…

As a secondary post, firstly i am a man not a woman. That said I spend considerable time in the US as well as home.

I would like to reply to:

If you don’t want to see the same thing over and over, don’t bother opening the thread.

This same logic could be used with Mr. Valliere. If you don’t like him, don’t ride with him. End of conversation. As far as new information for people who haven’t read the former threads, it would appear that the posters are the very same posters in all the threads going back years. So it is hardly new information for new people. And, if in fact that was your reasoning, which i highly doubt as the thread is so acerberic, do you feel it is your duty to keep all new members of the board updated on all issues? To what end?
Isn’t that what the search function is for?

With all the wonderful information you all have to put forth, it is such a shame to feel like you need to continous vent over an issue which is/was out of your control.

Irish,

I am interested in the post where you mentioned that PV applied, but was denied. Is that fact? Interested how you know this.

Also, do you happen to be in the MA/RI area? If so - I may know who you are
yes, it’s terrible that he had a horse electrocuted for the insurance money… So what exactly is the problem with him?
Oh. my. god.

I’ll put it this way. A mistake is putting your foot on the gas pedal instead of the brake because you are taking your driver’s ed test and you are stressing out. What he did is just wrong no matter what the reasons for doing it are. What’s wrong with him is that he went beyond contemplating it. He went beyond the simple thought of doing it. He did it. That to me is what is wrong with him and many others.

For pete’s sake. NO, I do not feel it is my duty to keep new members of the board updated on all issues. That is not at all what I wrote or meant and it makes no sense at all.

Simply put, just because so many have already read the things written on dupicate threads from years ago does not mean EVERYONE has read those threads from years ago. So if one HAS read the info already, why not just ignore it rather than making such a big deal about it.

As an off the wall analogy, perhaps you might be one who thinks reading classic literature and discussing it has no place since you have already read it and discussed it?, so why would ANYBODY want to read and discuss it again? And please don’t misinterpret this to think I am comparing PV to classic literature. Sheesh…

To answer your question, probably for the same reason that, of all the threads you’ve read and valued over time, this is the only thread you’ve posted on. Many people are drawn to this sort of stuff, just like you were.

You do have an option, if you prefer threads with tips about riding and gear rather than those about people: just don’t even open the threads that are titled with a person’s name.

Not quite. Many are members of USEF and USHJA and his reinstatement is NOT totally out of our control.

For those curious about the mention of the cliff… It happened in the late 70’s or early 80’s (can’t remember exactly but I was still a jr). A van of 3 horses belonging to Lisa Castellucci “accidently” went off the side of a road and all were killed. I can remember one of the horses was Grand Avenue. A winning hunter they had purchased that wasn’t winning for Lisa. Can’t quite remember the other two. I remember thinking how tragic the accident was and then I heard all the whispers at the shows about what really happened.

Of course, this is all hearsay and conjecture. I’m not accusing anyone of anything, just giving what I know as the facts in the situation. Years later when the insurance killings came to light, I formed my own opinion of what really happened to that van that day.

OMG, that makes electrocution seem like a blessing.

These are the shocks you get when you take a very extended vacation from the horse industry. Some posters may find this repetative, but this is taking my breath away.

But how on earth to do get a van to go over a cliff without killing the driver too?

Driver bails out - that’s what hills are for.

I love my horses and I love taking lessons and going to horse shows, but sometimes I am ashamed to be involved in something that fosters the underhanded and vicious activity that has occured (or may still be occuring) in this sport.

I’ve been reading through these PV threads how some perceive him to be a great horseman. How is that defined? Can you treat these wonderful creatures badly and still be a great horseman? I cannot reconcile that.

Merry98,

weren’t you his working student not long ago?
