Wasn’t Lisa one of Paul’s students? Wonder, I do, if there is any connection…

Lisa was indeed one of Paul’s students, and a good customer as well. I do not think she is riding at this point in time.
No, but she does pop on here from time to time to see who remembers Touch the Sun.
And if indeed she does pop on here, he was a magnificent horse.
No disputing that.

As far as new information for people who haven’t read the former threads, it would appear that the posters are the very same posters in all the threads going back years. So it is hardly new information for new people.[/QUOTE]
Just because the same posters post does not mean other/new people, who may not post, are not reading the thread and learning.
ETA this thread has over 500 posts but a whopping 27,000+ views. Obviously this is beaing read by far more people than those posting.

Touch The Sun wasn’t her horse? He was owned and ridden by Adriana Galesi. She and Lisa were juniors during those same years. Agreed! He was a magnificent animal!
As much as I despise the fact that he participated in the killings he produced one of the best equitation riders.
Touch the Sun was, in fact, Lisa’s horse.
Was Touch The Sun in that van that went over? Can’t blame a kid for the parent’s bad decisions. I always remember Gail having to live with the last name Hulick…poor woman. She was as unlike her mother as a person can be:( May she rest in peace.
I went to the library and got Hot Blood this afternoon after this thread and read the whole thing in one sitting. It made me go  to say the least. The one question I do have is that in the book, he seems to be a (relatively) minor player in this whole scenario, so why do the threads here on COTH focus pretty much only on him? Is he the only one applying for reinstatement?
Nancy Banfield has reapplied and been reinstated. I believe there are a few others as well but I am not good on the details. Barney Ward can’t reapply, George Lindeman does polo now, and Marion Hulick shows French Bull Dogs these days. Her husband still does a lot of stabling management at the big shows and night checks.
Is Hank still around?
You can see Marion at a few of the larger venues. Look for a woman in a large hat with the BNT who wears too much cologne.

Nancy Banfield will never been forgiven in my mind, she shattered the memory of my favorite junior hunter. Imagine being a kid and worshipping a beautiful horse…only to find out later on that his owner had him killed because he wasn’t good enough. It’s too personal to me.
The reason people are focused on PV also is that he was a very highly respected trainer before this happened so it was a huge fall from grace, and he is still involved, trying to skirt the restrictions that have been put on him, So I feel, as do many, that he actually never really took responsibility for his actions (yes he did verbally but do his actions support that he’s sorry for what he did? I don’t know, but I do know he has done everything he can to stay involved in horses and horse showing, against the govering body’s regulations and that doesn’t show me much.)
Well, he is the only one that is openly skirting the suspension by continuing to field a client group at major shows proudly claiming him as their trainer…if only via cell phone from just off the property or on non show days when the USEF cannot legally keep him off the property…and the only one benefitting from flashy “thank you Paul” ads proudly proclaiming him as trainer of record.
I find this distasteful.
Now, 'tis true BW openly came on various properties to watch his son compete. Equally true he was thrown off, he sued to have the ban overturned. And lost. But haven’t seen any full page ads in COTH touting what a wonderful guy he is.
Nasty business.
Marion does show French Bulldogs. I believe she was at the National Specialty in Denver last week (our dog won the Specialty).
Silk–Touch the Sun was not on that van.
I have to jump in on this…as disgusting and loathesome as the FACTS were, there was no runaway van. I am by no means a supporter, a past or future customer of Mr. Valliere, but a van over a cliff would have been very big news.

But WW says there WAS a runaway van.
.
Harry et al…IF memory serves me, I remember the time that a straight job (six horse Imperatore type van) lost its brakes on Rt 8 coming down the Mt from Lake Placid…the driver(a woman) was killed…at least ten maybe fifteen years ago. The dead driver thing made the horses who died sort of an aftr thought…I could be wrong or I could be combining two seperate incidences…

You may be thinking of the van accident that killed Chris Mayr, a very nice woman from Cazenovia. She was a nice person, bless her.
Nothing but a sad accident as far as I know.
