Pedigree thoughts

So I have fallen in love with a new OTTB.

Just curious as to what some folks think of his pedigree.

I was not familiar with his up close lines but there are some I love further back (like Grey Flight).

Doesn’t really matter as I judge the gelding in front of me…not the paper. And this boy ticked all the boxes for me.

Fingers crossed that he flies through the PPE. And if he doesn’t…I may still buy him anyway. I REALLY want this boy!!! Needs some TLC but I know he is a real gem.

I also love Lyphard and I love Riverman. Both are all time favorites.

Guessing this horse has a great shoulder and wither

yes he does. Of course his hind end over the little jump impressed me most

Not the best shot but you can see the fancy trot that will be there when he is stronger (and fatter)!!! His neck is a lot better in person.

Ha Ha, I just realized it’s you who posted this. Of course he has that conformation! He looks nice. Hope he’s home with you soon.

So jealous!

Me too! Yes another nice one from TPB. Unfortunately for me, Pat and I have similar tastes!!!

He’s gorgeous, congrats!
I have thoughts on 1/4 of the pedigree–I own an awesome horse by Stormy Atlantic and have heard good things about him as a sire from others. Mine:https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152764655940105.1073741825.760135104&type=1&l=83639dd1cb (hope that works)
But more importantly he himself looks lovely.

Wow, you have a great eye!

nice jump on your horse. He is lovely!

BFNE I think you should get him…can’t comment on his pedigree…but yeah you should get him!!!

I have liked every stormy atlantic that I have ridden. They tend to be flashy, good movers and good jumpers with big solid bone.

Love this horse. Glad you are buying him so that I don’t have to be tempted any longer! He is gorgeous and I loved how much he didn’t want to hit the jumps behind too. You can make a front end but you get what you get behind, I’ve always been told!

Love love love love! It’s fortunate for us we have the same taste has Pat. Glad you’re buying him cuz I was stalking him on FB and I can only have one horse (boo). A TPB horse (yay!)

I rode a Stormy Atlantic for a while. Lovely trot but easy to sit, very uphill, he could sit and collect well too. Probably the best dressage of any TB I’ve ridden. Wanted to work his heart out. A bit nutty but he had a bad childhood. Good-hearted boy.

Passed his PPE and on his way to my farm today  He will get a bit of down time in the field and maybe just some light hacking out for the next 4-6 weeks. He needs to put on quite a bit of weight. I’ll post some before and after pictures in a few months as I see this guy REALLY turning into a looker…I’m super excited about him!

Yay, so excited for you! I think he is going to be a super prospect for you. His gaits kind of remind me of Pirate. That long-legged daisy-cutter sweepy movement. Love it.

He is going to be one fancy boy. I can’t wait to see the before and after pics!!

I have a Louis Quatorze gelding. Best personality I’ve ever met, but can be powerful under saddle. Would have been my UL prospect but he had a career endog injury young that was through no fault of his own. Every LQ horse I’ve looked at has the same charisma my guy has - and when you sit on them you can “feel” how powerful they can be.

Stormy Atlantic and Carson City are both loved by te HJ crowd for the movement they tend to throw. They’re usually leggy and have a nice hunter rhythm to them. Worked with a few SA kids down south that could do everything and had great heads.

He has a promising pedigree - I see a lot of his male side in the LL tiers of eventing that make great ammy mounts.

Oh Lord … The new horse excitement!

It’s definitely one of the highs in life!

Congrats, BRNE! This thread has me dying to know what TPB is. Anyone care to enlighten me?
