It’s not just harsh, it is ridiculous.
The kids who are competing for best child/junior rider
[QUOTE=Polydor;7208202]
Looking through the pics that the Chron have posted, why are the riders wearing armbands?

order of go is rough! so many of my picks for the top 10 are going in the first 20!
Yeah not just harsh, kind of stupid. Can you see how spooky some of these horses are coming in? I am sure these kids are not having their “normal” rides.
The tunnel into, and the ring itself, at Harrisburg are VERY spooky for many horses. I rode there 10 years as a junior, and it took my horse 3 years to fully relax there. As others said, that was a very unfair statement regarding these kids’ riding ability.

Yes. Well said. When I was there last year I overheard a VERY reputable training talking about how the first year at medal finals is more or less a wash for a lot of kids, and that she does not worry about their performance as much until it is their second or third time there and they are not panic stricken.

Finally found it on Facebook. Phew!

Great! Thanks!
Having a lot of trouble here towards the end…ponies don’t want to play anymore, maybe it’s past their bedtime?
Sophie Vigeland has a gorgeous style. I like the way she rides, I wonder why I’ve never heard of her before.

I think they want to go curl up in their stalls and snooze some. I have to give them credit for coming out and playing. A lot of them looked like they saw a devil in the corner, though, and the poor Golden Compass saw an alligator under the wall. I am sure some of the kids are past their bedtimes too.
Stepped away from my computer for a minute and missed iEquitate’s ride! Finally got to watch it on YouTube. Great job! Quito looks like a cool horse! Good luck tomorrow!
Thanks everyone! Quito was so awesome, couldn’t have asked for a better horse to pack me around my first year!
I did add in the last two lines which is why the in of the two stride looked so deep; he goes left over the jumps, and I don’t think I’ve ever had a horse that didn’t drift right, so I definitely misjudged that!
Good luck tomorrow!

I’ve heard/been told that about Harrisburg in general, not just Medal Finals! As someone who went to Harrisburg a few years ago after having a very successful summer and promptly fell off after 3 jumps ( ), I can attest to the atmosphere being overwhelming your first time! I’m so glad there wasn’t a live feed that year, as it would have been hard to go online and see people ripping apart my round because Nikki and I were both going around with our eyes bugging out…
Jackie Woods’ ride and horse were lovely. Liked the combination after that one too.

Here’s another example of Lillie giving her horse lots of credit. Love that!

Dear caucasian horse people,
Stop naming your brown horses after black people. It’s tacky.
XOXO,
Huh? Seems a bit over sensitive. Especially because I just watched a brown horse named after a French (caucasian) soccer player.

Is it more or less tacky than naming a chestnut horse after a African American person? I don’t imagine the color of the horse is driving the name, it’s more likely just an homage to someone the namer admires. I bet there are as many bay horses named for Caucasian celebrities. There are just a lot of bay horses, period.

Last time I checked French caucasian’s didn’t have a history of being dehumanized in a sport that is still blatantly race biased.
