People with full time jobs - tell me how you manage your riding

We must be at the same barn. There used to be big halogen floodlights around the outdoor arena, and the BO’s husband is finally taking steps towards mounting them again (apparently all the wiring is ready). If it doesn’t happen in a month or so, I might see if I can put a couple solar motion lights up on the poles. The poor indoor takes a beating in the winter, and often we could be riding outside if we had enough light. My young WB won’t work under saddle in the small indoor, so if we don’t get lights, I might start going out before work, riding my smaller/more trained horse in the indoor, and trying to time it so I can ride the WB just as it’s getting light. Going to make it work somehow!

YES! And, I hate to admit it but Budweiser makes a good seltzer. You won’t see me touching their beer, but I was pleasantly surprised by their seltzer. My go to is Night Shift, but that’s a brewery local to me and you might not have it. Love their seltzers though.

Yesterday was a “sip and sulk” ride for me after work. Which sucked. I took a hack up the hill and watched the sunset while a large mature buck and his girlfriend grazed nearby. I’m lucky I have such a chill dude to enjoy these little snatches of free time with. Not to sound woo-woo but it is seriously restorative.

The photos are not great, they were taken with my Iphone 6s. But you get the point.

Very pretty scenery! I’m in FL so it’s unlikely I can get your local brewery product. I haven’t tried the Budweiser ones though.

Sorry you felt the need for a sulking ride, but hopefully the nature time helped you recharge!

YES. This! I recently realized this on my own. Just do SOMETHING with the horses. Nights that I’m too burned out from my day to ride, I groom, or organize the tack room. Something. I’m focusing on being a horse person. not the person who does horses when everything else is done, and everyone else has their needs met.

This is so true. Even picking-out the paddock counts (right, right?!). Just time spent doing horsey things, around horses. If you have a cute nose within booping distance while doing said horsey things, then even better!

They sell headlamps that fit on a helmet. I’ve not tried it, but I’ve considered it.

That’s not a bad idea.

I bought a couple rechargeable 1500 lumen lights on Amazon. If they work well, I’ll buy two more and then I think I’m set. Otherwise, a headlamp is next. Maybe a headlamp will help me remember to quit looking down. Illuminated ears are not helpful.

Smart thinking!!

I’d love to hear how they work out.

Otherwise I’m gonna be stringing solar charged party lights up in some pecan trees and riding a lot of circles this winter
