Ponies of the 80's and early 90's

quote:
does anyone remember the SHOW NAME of Danielle Monteleone’s pony BowBow(sp?)?

Was it Beau Breeze? Though I thought that one was a medium, but fuzzily remember that maybe there were two of them…

Has anyone mentioned Short Stop?

Well my pony wasn’t famous, but she was evil! We showed against many of the larges mentioned in this thread, but she was too little to be really competitive (13.3 vs. 15/15.1 just doesn’t work out too well). That, and the fact that she pinned her ears and snapped her teeth at every other animal on the grounds. Trucked around without batting an eye at anything, ever, though. Was a star in the pony eqs.

Flirtation Walk was ridden by Laurel Mullens, Becca Winger and Courtney McPherson. At the end of her green year she had grown over to a horse and was sold as a brood mare.

Rock Star,

I don’t believe Leigh had anything to do with Linus except maybe ride him at some point. They never owned him to my knowledge.

Short Stop - Holly Sorenson won tons on that one!! Such a sweetie!!

Correct! The first owner named the pony for the faint brand, and the next owner used white shoe polish to make it more visible.

I remember her when she was at SBS Farms. Cute and fat!

How 'bout some more?

Glenmore Hearts of Fire
Thyme
Casey Jones
McGregor

… that Disco Duck was a bay with a blaze. But I am (happily) dusting off some serious cobwebs with this thread, so I could be very wrong.

Horseless, your Annie looks very familiar!

Silver Tide was the Ruff kids (along with Devil’s River)

Dance on Ice was Alison Firestone

Patti and Mary gave me Meggi Dhu I still have her ! She taught so many kids to ride with me you wouldn’t belive it!She is still going strong !She taught both of my kids to ride until it came to jumping then we moved on! She is a great pony !

Magical Cloud was Alison’s I think, and Woodland’s Magic Cloud was Carolyn Sivitz’s.

I’ve been obsessed w/ spots ever since seeing Cookie Monster in 1980. In fact, I’m now trying to breed spotted ponies. I never got over him. Never saw him be bad, but then again, I was probably too busy trying to stay on mine She was challenging as well…
What became of him?

Where did you used to run a lesson program. We might know each other!!

Was there a Ziff pony that was cut at Harrisburg one year? I mean, literally, cut up one side by someone trying to hurt it.

I know that’s totally bizarre, and I was very young, but I thought I heard that rumor flying around the show. It could be a fabrication, and, if so, apologies. We’re talking way back – early- to mid-'80s.

Yes it was a small bay pony that Molly Ashe was showing for the Ziffs, I am having brain failure at the monent and can not think of the pony’s name

I think Frankie Chesler had Buttons first. Oh, and the boys, Jimmy and John Pirtle, are Daryll’s nephews. Daryll has a daughter.
