Prayers for Promise

Many of you know that I have seen my good little mare Promise through a great many illnesses over the course of her life. You all helped me get through the cecal impaction that she suffered this Spring.

Promise has been in the clinic since Friday with colic symptoms. Nephrosplenic entrapment (intestine that has looped over ligament in the stomach) was suspected, but it could not be definately diagnosed until today. She will be medicated to reduce the size of the spleen, then jogged or lunged to attempt to jog that intestine back into the right place. If that doesn’t work, she will be rolled.

Surgery is not an option. It is too costly, and the surgeon says that it is often useless in these cases, because the intestine can drift back over the ligament at any time.

Promise needs your prayers. I don’t care if they are Christian or not, or even if they are good wishes sent her way, she just needs those waves of support coming at her.

Thank you for your support, in the past, and now.

Plenty of good vibes coming from me for both you and your wonderful Promise mare

Also adding my prayers to the others. Heres hoping Promise is on the road to recovery soon

had all day! Will keep the postive energy flowing til you tell us she’s on the way home!

Glad to hear Promise is getting better.
Thank you for the update!

All our thoughts and prayers are with you and Promise. Please keep us posted because we are all with you on this one.

Promise – We’ll all make sure you get carrots and good treats once you are better. We all promise.

of poop. i rarely post, but just had to wish you good luck. she is still young enough to fight and come through it (coming from someone who has a 29 year old grand prix schoolmaster, among other horses)
good luck!

Hoping the news this morning is good news Louise. Cyber hugs and well wishes to you and Promise.

Behind every good woman lies a trail of men

Positive vibes and energy coming your way Louise.

Phyllis, Perturbed and I are sending positive thoughts your way, Louise.

It really means so much to me, and I know to Promise too, that there are so many loving thoughts being sent her way.

Have heard nothing yet, don’t know whether that is good or bad.

Of course, what I really want is to be down there, but I don’t think that’s possible, my boss would probably fire me for leaving at the end of the month.

Meds and jogging didn’t work. Second dose of meds being given, to make sure that the spleen is as small as possible (dangerous, have to watch that heart rate doesn’t go too low), then, she will be rolled.

keep those good thoughts coming.

First of all - my best wishes for a speedy recovery!!!

Second - your Promise. Is she a small warmblood mare - part Trakehner maybe? The one I knew was small, talented, and a little tempermental. She either liked you or didn’t. Not much in between and she let you know which it was! This Promise grew up in the midwest.

I was just wondering if it was the same horse.

Good luck to you! I hope she’s in the pink soon!

So happy that things are on the way to mending.

Good thoughts will still be coming Promise’s way until she gets home.

Fingers still crossed until she comes home If your office is anything like mine, you must be surrounded by some relieved co-workers!

Good luck, Promise, get well for your virtual family

I shall spend my daytime thinking of poop whilst I’m shoveling poop, all in Promise’s name.
