Great news. I hope she has made it around the bend in the road and is on the straightaway to good health!
C’mon Promise - we are all rooting for you!
Behind every good woman lies a trail of men
Promise Updates are never unwelcome!!
Louise, still lots of vibes and prayers headed her way…
More poop and no colic symptoms all night. All she has to do is make it through until tonight and we will pretty much be home free!!!
Now, I have to start researching fast to find out what the most palatable senior feed is and the most effective electrolytes.
Hmm, good question for the Horse Care forum.
Ohhh, I’m so happy!!!
Has a place in my heart!
When Mr. Wings and I got married, he, the Winglet and I went to Cape Cod by way of friends above Harrisburg, Pa, through the Poconos and meandered our way to Goshen where we followed the directions in Marguerite Henry’s “Born to Trot” and visited the Trotting Museum, Hambletonian’s birthplace and grave and had a delightful time touring the Historic Track.
Been to Chincoteague and Goshen, live in Northern VA where her book about the fox was set, I would love to go to the Grand Canyon to see Bright Angel Falls! As a kid, my family took the RV (same one) through Vermont but didn’t go to UVM or look for Justin Morgan’s setting.
YIPPEEEEE!!! Thank goodness! Promise is one strong and determined lady. I am so happy for you, Louise!
Glad to hear how well Promise is doing! As fragile as horses are, they can also bounce back very quickly.
Still keeping you guys in my thoughts. Thanks for keeping us posted.
We’re still there with you, Louise!
Whoo hoo! Yay Promise.
Keep us posted, Louise.
I, too, have been to Goshen, just a few years ago. One of our favorite horse books growing up was Born to Trot by Margurite Henry. And my father’s employer bred standardbreds lots of things at the museum were familiar.
What a relief!!
Thank god, Louise! So happy for you guys!
Curb chains are jingling and jangling far and wide for you.
More to follow once I speak with the vet later this morning.
Promise passed the whole day without any colic symptoms. She passed three good piles of soft poop. The Vet will increase food this morning, if she goes through the night with no symptoms. Then, if she makes it to this evening symptom free, we can breathe easier. Then, all we’ll have to worry about is the salmonella, but the vet says that she doesn’t think Miss P has it, because, except for the diarhea, she is symptom free there. So, one more day of finger crossing please, guys.
She was her old self last night, bright-eyed and with her helicopter ears back in full play. My heart just lifted when I saw her. I was even a little glad to see that she was cribbing on her feed bucket, though I pulled it quick, because I don’t think that’s a good thing to do right now.
Her attitude is
FEED ME! FEED ME RIGHT NOW!!!
and, I can’t blame her, it has been over a week since she has had a full meal. Poor little girl is awfully skinny.
Short update proved to be a little long. Be back later with a more current report.
Good news! Still keeping fingers and toes crossed.
Please pass along ( ) my happy congrats to the pooping puppy.
When I get tired of mucking, I just think how lucky I am to have poop to pick up!
coming your way from the Old Dominion.
Yea Louise! Yea Promise! Yea Poop!
