Puppy & Chicken Thread #497

Rainbow had her second round of vaccines today. Her weight doubled in four weeks. I put her new weight into an adult weight calculator. Four weeks ago it said she’d finish in the 80s. Now :grimacing::

Every single person in the clinic asked me something along the lines of, “are you sure she’s only 3 months old?”

The hairy beast herself, I can only get good pictures of her when I have her up at the barn with me. I usually clip her leash to one of my horse’s standing tie rings while leading the horses in and out so she’s not underfoot.

My 14 week old whippet puppy weighed 16 pounds at her vaccination apointment today. Where did you find the adult weight calculator?

I love whippets! Adorable!

I just googled. There are a few of them. All of them are putting her over 100lbs now.

Thanks

I’m guessing 32 pounds, myself.

The calculator’s guess for Ember:

I’m thinking it needs to ask a few more questions.

Lol. There is one through a vet page that asks more questions- breed, gender, type. It still has my girl at 100lbs.

I put my daughter’s Border Collie in and this was the result:

I’m having trouble picturing a 90 pound BC. :scream:

So maaaaaybe it’s a little off.

I hope so, though from what my daughter tells me, the way she eats, it could be possible. Pumpkin is a bottomless pit.

When my GSD was an infant, I put a tarp on the floor of her room. She was in a cage most of the time but she’s whiz when she came out, no matter what. The tarp saved my flooring.

I’ve been looking a lot at puppy weight calculators because I have a 14 week old male border collie/german shepherd puppy (23 pounds). The Omni calculator above predicts a (hefty, imo) adult weight of 85 lbs. Two others I found predict what seem to be a more realistic adult size of 62-75 pounds, so thought I would share in case anyone else wants to try them out. Both of these include breed information, so I ran them using both breeds of my mix.

LOL! I put my daughter’s pup in both, and got this from the second one. I guess she’s too big to calculate. I can’t imagine a 12 week old BC pup could only be 4lbs…

I got that message, too, but without a weight range. But then I played around with breeds. When I put her in as either bernedoodle or GSD I get the same result: 80.5lb +/- 2.5lb.

I hadn’t tried the SpiritDog Training one, so thanks @accidental_cowgirl! The Sydney Animal Hospitals one was one I had tried that put her at 100lb.

Spirit Dog Training predictor just gave me an accurate result for my Tibetan Spaniel. I put in what her weight was at 14 weeks, along with her breed, and the answer was correct (with a given range of plus or minus one pound).
