Purebred Cat Found in the Colony

Generally, what part of the country are you in? Just in case somebody here might be interested.

I believe she’s in SoCal.

Wow! He’s gorgeous. I believe the Highland Lynx guess - I have a friend that owns two and they look very similar. Apparently they are very sweet cats.

I wonder if he escaped or is a missing van/house cat. The no microchip is disappointing but not all vet practices even encourage them. We just had a dog show up at our place yesterday who had traveled quite a long way from where she’d broken out of her owner’s truck. Thankfully our local FB page was on it and the dog was reunited from the owner in short order. I was surprised to learn how much distance she traveled in so little time.

You tell your DH you’ll miss him when he goes to the shelter :joy: The cat distribution system has chosen you! Once again. Lol.

I’ve been talking with a Hibernian Lynx/ Highlander breeder who quite possibly bred this guy. She reached out to who she thinks purchased him as a kitten and has reached a dead end.

CoTh Kitty aunties must have been jingling, or the Autumnal Equinox has worked is magic since BiL is in LOVE with this cat. So much so that he wants to keep him as his own personal cat!

To be clear, BiL and DH do love kitties, but they didn’t want to become a cat hoarding house. I think the 7 month long fostering period of 10 cats was a bit much for them. Our cats adore BiL and we trust him to take care of them while we are traveling. He’s never had his own kitty before, so this will be his first foray into official cat ownership. I’ve talked to him about vet costs, food costs, how we will split kitty chores etc. Fortunately BiL is a responsible man in his mid-30s with a great WFH job so Vash (his new name for the cat - named after an anime character I guess) will have a very dotting new dad.

He is getting a full check up and vax’d & chipped today, and a neuter appointment for next week. I get to go shopping with him to get him all stocked up with new kitty scratchers and toys. He’s being great about listening to my advice and trying to make this new cat as comfortable as possible as we get him ready to gradually introduce to our bunch.

The cat distribution system strikes again!

A great outcome for all! Congrats to BIL and his new bestie, Vash!

Yep - street cats are very savvy! I might owe Syrax some extra treats as a finder’s fee for bringing this kitty to us LOL.

Old owner " I think you may have found my cat". BatCoach " This one is neutered. Was your cat neutered? Oh - I guess it isn’t the same cat."

This really isn’t a joke. A friend found a German Shorthair Pointer on their farm. It was kind of skinny and wild but had a collar on. She tried for MONTHS to find an owner (not sure it was chipped), talking to neighbors, looking on lost pet sites, nada. Then finally somebody showed up to claim the dog as their dog. In the meanwhile she had him neutered. Old owner did not want him back since he was neutered. So now he is her dog.

Something similar happened to me. A Greyhound showed up one morning in the barn. We tried to find the owner - ran ads, everything. In the meantime, she got into one of the stalls and the horse either kicked or stepped on her, and broke her leg. She was at the vet recovering from getting the bone set and cast when someone called - “I think that’s my dog!” Okay, good, she’s at the vet. Once they learned the bill was $300, it suddenly wasn’t their dog.

Very happy for Vash and his new cat daddy.
All the polydactyl cats I know have been clowns and geniuses. Born to entertain.

And warmest thanks to the OP whose TNR mission has prevented thousands, yes, of unwanted kittens.
