Purses for leather snobs?

Ooh, I just got this purse. I like Brighton purses and they do wear well:

I have several purses which I’ve had for years and they are all long-lasting and beautiful. My favorites are a Brahmin leather bag, a simple Coach bag without all the logos, and I have been using a small Dooney and Burke purse but it is wearing and a brass piece on a button snap has fallen off so it’s not looking its best.

Another vote for Duluth. I purchased an older Lifetime bag from Ebay, and I love it. The leather is thick, soft, and sturdy, and it should last a LONG time.

Yep, fossil is my go to bag. Have half a dozen of them and they just go and go and go and the leather wears wonderfully.

No one has mentioned Michael Kors - there’s an outlet mall near me and I wind up buying those over Dooney, Coach, Kate Spade and Brighton - all of which are at the same location. Although, I do have bags from each! LOL! But to me the MK’s have the best leather feel and the ones I tend to reuse more than the others. I have had vintage Coach before (I bought new and NOW they’re vintage) and the only thing I didn’t like was the fact they were unlined and everything in them became covered in leather dust. But your mmv.

I tell my friends that my love for a really nice purse and regular pedicures are the only thing remotely feminine about me… I did not get the girly gene. But show me a good leather purse and I’m swooning!

Tucker Tweed bags are not soft, they are coated?

I have several, so really like them, but they wont give you the calfskin saddle feeling.

I had major quality control issues with a james river bag and the team was fantastic at customer satisfaction. Totally above and beyond. I wouldn’t hesitate to add to the collection.

PSA: The Wanderer’s Travel Co have a sale on at the moment, and I just ordered a bag like Nova2000’s. 20% off, a card wallet thrown in for free, and free shipping, what is not to like?! Now I’m waiting with impatience until it turns up…

The bag in question is from Sima Gurtel, an Austrian company. I can assure you that they are not haunted, nor are they made from the spoils of battlefield plunder . However, they are beautiful, extremely well-crafted, and about the heaviest duty leather I’ve ever laid eyes on.

Thanks! I just bought a bag (plus card wallet) and I’m now waiting with impatience as well!

Cuyana, Mansur Gavriel, Celine, and Hermes are my favorites.

All are various price points and have done really well with wear & tear.

Frye company makes LOVELY leather purses at reasonable prices (compared to some of the names here). I got mine at TJ Maxx for 120 bucks, reg 300. Leather is to die for, so soft and well tanned… Bought my daughter a matching wallet off their website (we both bought the same purse in same color, lol) and she loves it, had it a year and no wear at all.

I came on here to say Roots too! Definitely not going to compete with the really top end designers in terms of quality of leather, but it’s far and away the best ‘bang for your buck’ I’ve seen to date!

Ok I have been eyeballing a bag from Lusher.co has anyone ever bought anything from there?

Oh, I hope somebody can recommend Lusher.co. If they do, I am definitely getting the woven leather shoulder bag.

Check out Copper River Bag Company. Hand made in the USA and comes with a hundred year warranty. I got a briefcase from the a few years ago and it’s delightful

Does anyone have input on the Tucker Tweed bags?

(ETA I realize this isn’t necessarily a fine leather bag, looking for input on feel and longevity.)

Well, I think you will like Vikings-style bags. These are aesthetic leather bags. Due to their uniqueness, these bags are highly in demand.

Portland Leather Goods - great for simple bags. Very stiff to start out, need lots of break in time but they’re essentially bulletproof.

@Snowdenfarm I ordered a bag from Lusher finally! It was lovely, alas the size didn’t quite work for me. The leather was just lovely though. I will definitely be looking for something else from them.

Oh thanks for posting. I had forgotten about those bags. I need a new small bag and I’m going to try one of their woven ones. Thank you!
