Quarter horse names: Interesting, weird, funny, memorable.

That could explain a lot of names! I didn’t know that. Thanks!

I have Model horses and there’s one “herd”
Lead mares name is Summersunset “Summer”
Herd stallions name is I DunIt “Dunny”
Their foals name is SummerDunDidIt “Pipsqueak”
There’s other mares and foals in the herd There’s also a 2 year old stallion in it
LunaticRodeoChaser “Rodeo” (mare)
Youkon WildFire (Youkon) (2 yr old stallion)
(I forgot what I name Rodeos filly )
I have more…many more… but those r my favorite ones.

My Paint’s name is Peppy King Fritz (yuk). As far as I can see from his extended pedigree, there is no King Fritz breeding in him, but the barn name Fritz does suit him. A trainer that used to live near me used to show an Appy mare, High Slit Skirt…I always thought that was a good name. She was a nice reiner. I always liked the name Reynolds Rap. I saw him years ago and he was gorgeous.

Not a QH but I have a Chicken in my barn. I changed his name to Captain Courageous hoping he’s live up the the courageous part (he’s a timid sort). We call him Cappy but he’s still Chicken to his old family and friends. I was going to show him as WinnnerWinnerChickenDinner but DH protested.

I owned a Brandy’s Star Leo. Always hated the name.

We had a really nice STB filly, registered name Drunk And Dramatic. We called her DD in the barn. She was a sweet horse.

the standardbred trainer I worked for in high school got in a completely unhandled yearling who was afraid of everything, so they named him “Eddie McChicken” He ended up being a pretty cool horse, but that name still cracks me up.

I don’t know the owner, but Fistfulamartinis does consistently well in the Northeast AQHA shows. I also know someone who has Itsfiveoclocksumwhere. Lots of drink analogies lol.

Lol I love that name Im probably gonna use it for a model horse now. Yes some of the AQHA breeders do tend to use drink analogies for their horses names, I think the names are very cute and catchy, they will be remembered forever not to be rude to other equestrians name choices but other names like the traditional show names can be kinda forgotten. Mb if this is long or came across rude. Im very honest and open with my opinions :pensive:

I once saw a Quarter Horse competing over fences and his name was Frogs have Wings. I loved that,

My favorite Standardbred was a chestnut trotter (pretty sure she was a trotter) named Giraffe Girl. And yes she was gangly and stuck her neck and head straight up in the air just like a giraffe. I don’t think she was a successful race horse though.
