Quidam stallions that produce exceptional jumpers

Hey guys, what are some good QDR stallions available in the USA (frozen or fresh) who produce crazy good jumpers? I want to like Quinar but he throws a weird neck in every horse I’ve seen.

Thanks!

Quite Easy and his frozen is very good. í ½í²œí ½í°´

I’m honestly curious about the “weird neck” comment. Can you define what strikes you as weird about the Quinar necks? I’m genuinely wondering, as there are a ton of Quinar’s out there and I’ve never noticed a trend of odd necks. In full disclosure, I did breed (and sell) a very nice filly by him. Can you share an example?

A skinny odd looking neck… I’ve noticed it in almost 75% of his offspring. I’ve googled his offspring, looked at pics, ads etc.

Not arguing, but we have had 3 Quinar’s … 2 we bred and 1 we purchased and the necks are one of the best qualities of these horses. I have seen quite a few in Germany and most had lovely type. Maybe just preference …

But Quinar is one of my favorites of Quidam sons.

I could post links but I don’t want to embarrass any farms who’ve bred to him & gotten the skinny type neck.

I would imagine this is simply a case of personal preference  Quinar is known for his nice type, and passing it on. One person’s “skinny” could be another’s “refined”. Looking at the number of successful horses that Quinar has produced, it doesn’t seem as if the necks are hindering their performance  Thank you for answering my question!

How presumptuous of you that what you would consider breeding for is what the rest of us breed for as well…
I can’t think of many of my friends who have used Quinar that would be embarrassed by the resulting offspring, especially since refinement was their aim (including the neck).

It is apparent that you do not like “skinny necks” and that is okay, but saying that what other people like is an embarrassment to their breeding program is a little much eh?

I have a lovely yearling by Desir du Chateau.

Only caution…she is very VERY tall. Dam is 16.2 but she is looking like she will break 17H (she is a first foal for this dam too). Tall but not a tank. Looks like she will jump a bus. He has produced some good international jumpers and eventers.

Picture is when she was 5 months–I need to get some updated ones as she is really lovely–and neck is very nice but so is her dam’s. His frozen was good and not hard to import.

I too was scratching my head on the weird neck comment. The Quinar I bred had what I considered a lovely neck. Longer, and muscled, but nothing ‘weird’ about it, IMO.

I was happy that my Kannan mare took first try to Quinar with frozen this year, since we liked our first Quinar foal so well.

Lots of QDR options, I am sure the OP will find one that works for them.

If Quinar throws weird necks, I’m a fan of weird necks, apparently

Oh gosh don’t jump on me for not posting links. I don’t want to be the bad guy.

If you search on any of the warmblood sale sites for Quinar offspring it shows up in more than 1/2 of his offspring. Yes it’s my personal opinion. I love Quidam though… Nabab might be available frozen but I think he throws ugly heads. Yes I’m picky.

Trying to find other options. Anyone use Quantum?? How are Quite Easy offspring scoring? Verdi or Quasimodo z?

OP, you are the one that thinks Casall has an ugly head and is not pleasant to watch, right? I am no expert breeder but no one is going to take you seriously if you keep posting this stuff.

Dollar de la Pierre died in 2012 and I´m not sure about availability. You could contact his late owners La Silla (they named him Tlaloc La Silla): http://www.hipicolasilla.com/

Or Haras des M: http://www.harasdesm.com/fiche_etalon.php

Lol Big Star looks very coarse and others agreed. Not sure what world you live in but everyone is entitled to their opinions (likes and dislikes) about everything & anything…mares and stallions included.

Reread the thread, no one on it was critical of Big Star but you. To the contrary.
