I could go on and on - this is our culture! Most of us were brought up on this movie. And please notice, there are GOOD witches and WICKED witches, not all witches are “bad”. Also be aware, you may never look at monkeys in the same way. I’d also recommend you pick up the book or watch Wicked while you are at it.
Not to change the topic from this thread’s current trajectory, but as I’m loathe to actually trawl through dressagehub/related content I was wondering if anyone else might know what DH-person/affiliates have been up to?
I hate to even ask this question, but why are you so concerned about posters being “mean” especially about a poster who was banned for being “mean?” Not to mention when you yourself have jumped into numerous threads just to tell people they’re wrong, make some very unkind comments about people’s weight, choice of trainers, and training methods, or lecture them about what they should and shouldn’t be posting about?

Haven’t heard anything since she shared NP’s video, which was hilarious. However I refuse to actually visit any of her pages and give her the clicks she treasures above all else, including integrity, so I don’t actually know what’s going over there.

Several posters here, myself included, have bent over backwards into a pretzel shape, trying to excuse your bizarre behavior. In essence, saying to themselves “Maybe she didn’t understand the cultural reference, so maybe she isn’t being an attention-seeking nuisance or worse, maybe she thought that comment was much more direct and offensive that it actually was.” - trying to give you the benefit of the doubt.
And your response to that is to insist to us that you DID understand the cultural reference?

I usually have no problem scrolling past the posters that I find annoying. But the current conversation, the seemingly endless conversation by one of said posters, is exactly what drives me nuts. There are times when a person should take the spanking even if they don’t think they’re in the wrong. Because when everybody else is telling you you’re an idiot, you probably are.

So anyhow a fb friend Western trainer whose work I like, IRL friend of friends, innocently and randomly linked to some DHub stolen video to illustrate some point. For a nanosecond I thought about saying something then thought: no, the criticism thread of DHub would look just about as cray cray to an outsider as DHub itself. Just hush.

I actually ran into a similar situation and linked them to Heather Blitz’s shared post on the issue. Figured that she counted enough as a credible professional/recognized name that I could deter people from going down the DHub hole without having to detail the crazy. It seems to have worked.
Ok I’ll bite. The comment was meant to be celebratory. As in “Yippee! That poster who derailed so many posts and was particularly vile and “mean” to so many people is finally banned. Hurray!” Exactly the way the characters in Oz celebrated when they learned they weren’t going to be terrorized by the Wifked Witch of the West anymore. Is that clear enough? Not “mean” but expressing relief, joy and satisfaction that someone who had caused so much disruption and upset to the COTH community was finally gone.
Now perhaps you could answer the question, why does it matter so much to you? Why can’t members just post what they want without you jumping in to lecture or police them?
Great way to handle it. I’ve kept my mouth closed when a local eventing trainer I’m friendly with links DH videos involving stolen content (we’re not good enough friends that I’ve felt I could broach such a bizarre and thorny topic). Next time I’ll try your strategy. It would be nice to be able to shine a light on DH’s bad practices and general crazy without seeming to be party to an equal and opposite insane reaction.

Why are so many posters going wild whenever I post anything?? They lecture me what I can post not the other way around. I simply asked a question in the Help section. Then some of the posters purposely misunderstood it and started to lecture me what I can do or not…
And I never had any bad experiences with Csaper. She is kind and IMO very intelligent…
Yeah, I was really uncertain how to approach it. How to (tactfully) address the issue without opening up a picnic basket of drama? If you find another way to skirt that, please share! It’s so disheartening when people unwittingly engage with less than reputable individuals.
I imagine another way to approach it (specifically related to video with content that she dubiously sourced) would be to “I really like that video! You can find the original source of it at (link)” and ideally, the source also has other videos you can say “And the original source also has some additional content you might like, if you liked their other video!”
I don’t know if that’s opening up too much drama though…thoughts?
