Reasons to love Beezie

True Monday confession: I love Beezie Madden. I love how she rides. I love how she loves her horses. I love that celebrity hasn’t affected her. I love that she is humble. I love that, despite a body type that isn’t the equestrian standard of perfection, she kicks everyone’s arse.

I recently saw a videos of her wrapping her own horses and cleaning her own tack. Amazing. This woman inspires me to be the best horsewoman I can be. I can only hope I get to meet her someday.

What do you love about Beezie? Or, if she’s not your spirit animal, who you do idolize?

I love seeing pics from their retirement barn. They obviously care a lot for their horses and it shows.

I love the fact that she is so quick to give credit to the horses when things go well, and take the responsibility herself if things don’t go well. To me, that is a true mark of great horsemanship.

She is the Tom Hanks of the horse world. Everybody loves her cause she’s so genuine. She loves her horses AND her fans. I think the horse world would fall apart if any sort of scandal came out about her.

^THIS!

Even as a super low-level ammy with no real ambitions, someone who blames their horse when things go wrong or doesn’t defer credit to them when things go great makes me question their thought processes. Even riding the highest wave on the world stage, Beezie sounds like a horse-crazy little girl, in love with what she does, in the right ways for all of the right reasons.

I’m so happy that someone with her talent, skill, work ethic, etc, so beautifully represents all of us horse-crazy little girls and boys (no matter how many years our aging meatsuits may have on the odometers).

And also, following her win yesterday, she mentioned the horse’s regular groom by name, even though he was not at this particular event. Props to her!

Yes, indeed. They have posted some very cute pictures lately of the retirees taking on a mentor role with some of the weanlings. Let’s hope those babies are listening to the wisdom of their elders.

All of the above, plus I love that she doesn’t Stand With George

My favorite was a video posted of her sewing a button back on her coat. She’s just a girl who likes to ride horses. I was there yesterday at Spruce. You could have heard a pin drop during her round. And what an amazing little pony jumper that stallion is!

You pretty much summed it up, I too love how she is humble and such a great horsewoman. She’s a great role model to younger riders and a class act.

I also love how they have Madden Mountain (retirement barn) in Cazenovia, New York. These retirement horses live like kings and queens. I think I want to retire there!

She also cleans tack!!

I ran into her once up near Cazenovia when we were checking out schools, she was very humble. One of those big name people that hasn’t let it go to her head at all. I’d love to just hang out with her forever.

Love Beezie. I agree with you completely. Except not sure about what you meant about the body type. Beezie is FIT. https://www.chronofhorse.com/article/adult-amateur-goes-to-the-gym-with-beezie-madden

She was once told that she was too small to ride at the top levels.

I think it’s more that she isn’t 6ft tall and stick thin, like a lot of eq riders tend to be.

When we had our second child 10 years ago, I couldn’t make it to World Cup with the rest of my barn mates that year. So, to have me there in spirit they made a giant cutout of my head on a stick and took it to the show with them (my head-on-a-stick wound up having way too much fun in Vegas and funny pictures ensued.) Beezie was a good enough to take a great funny picture with my head-on-a-stick. It leads a better existence than I do IRL.

This is so true, and something I’ve said of Tom Hanks so many times. As long as nothing comes out about Tom or Beezie, I think we’ll wind up okay. lol

@AndNirina, I am so jealous of your head-on-a-stick’s life!

Okay, gotcha. How tall is she? I don’t picture her really as short. Margie, yes. Beezie, no. But could just be my perception. Well, she rides tall, doesn’t she?

I would guess she’s in the 5’6”–5’8” range. I have never used a measuring stick on her.

Between her ability, attitude, and work ethic, she is certainly a role model for all of us!
