Registered sex offender at shows,ETA now in Florida

Yeah I changed my wording to might not be deemed to pose a danger, meaning by the courts. Knowing nothing about the case.

I think the subset of men who find 16 year old girls sexually attractive is much larger than those who are attracted to prepubescent girls. Especially when the 16 year old girl can be groomed to think she’s in a consensual romantic affair. I’m going to be cynical and speak as an ex teenager, saying a very large chunk of adult men find older teens attractive and would act on that attraction if there were no repercussions, which is why there need to be repercussions. I think it’s very different from true attraction to young children. Just remembering how everyone starts to look at you once you sprout boobs. I was a bit oblivious at first…

Yea that is true, and there are some
offenders will take the youngest they can get or is available to them. All gross imo lol

I work for a law enforcement agency in NY. The one thing you have to keep in mind is there are offenses that qualify for registry status that surround possession of certain types of pornography and offenses against adults. Every offender has different conditions, and many do not have exclusions in regards to minors.

This is definitely something that should be reported to safe sport. But the person in question may not actually be in violation of their SO registry conditions.

OP most, if not all states have a searchable database for the nature of the offense. If it has been reported to SS I assume that is their first stop

I believe the issue with Tom Navarro in Virgina as reported on another COTH thread was that his registry was in another state and had expired after ten years as well. His record of convicted criminal offense was enough for SS to ban him of course but he wasn’t violating any conditions of release by being around young people.

I used to board at a facility that was owned by a family who also owned the biggest martial arts school in town, with hundreds of kids in attendance. The head of the school, who also owned the farm, is a known sex offender, but apparently he raped an adult so somehow it’s all ok here in this little corner of rural California. If the husband in question here isn’t a child-specific offender, he may have a similar situation.

You’re a very tactful person though, I’d probably go full nuclear put this fellow and his pathetic wife on blast but I don’t recommend these tactics unless you don’t mind the fallout.

Good for you. We need more members like you in our sport.

I’d out them but I dont want them to start deleting incriminating facebook photos if there is some sort of investigation. It doesn’t appear he is breaking any sort of law. I wish there was a way to let parents know about this so they could make an informed decision about having their kids there

Hmm. I know some of our members are very computer-literate (unlike me). Maybe someone would volunteer to (copy/download/ archive/whatever magic makes it possible to safeguard the content) the Facebook entries to which you are referring.

Then you could make your decision about publishing their identity without worrying about potential evidence disappearing?

Screenshot whatever photos you think they might need. Screenshoting varies by browser, so you can Google “screenshot Chrome” or whatever to find the right key strokes.

Would be happy to help capture and preserve media. I worked for facebook for several years as well, and if this situation becomes subject to investigation they can easily pull the entire history of all accounts involved.

Are we talking about schooling shows, not USEF or USHJA recognized/sanctioned shows? If so, then USEF does not have any jurisdiction. Please remember that USEF/Safe Sport does not have jurisdiction at unsanctioned events. There can be grey areas though, so if this trainer and/or spouse is a USEF member, and so are her clients, then it could fall under safe sport\

Google dean osborne nebraska. The trainer is apparently moving to florida. Local horse people should be aware

The barn Tom Navarro is associated with gets recommended all the time on local Facebook pages. I post links to his SS ban, but then get called out that I’m not supportive of a local business.

Link to the barn associated with the name listed by previous poster is https://www.facebook.com/doubleclearequestriancenter/

It seems he isn’t on the safe sport list even with his convictions and sex offender registry status. Usef shows he has a fan non competing membership as of 6/4/22
Our sport has to do better

@Melcob, have you heard anything from your safesport about the report you filed?

This does seem like a hole in how things work.

How charming.

It’s almost like they don’t care.

I say that is when @luvmyhackney should recommend a different local barn and say something like “Oh, I love supporting local businesses, I just prefer to keep the local kids safe and not send them to a barn where there is a registered sex offender.”.

I have not heard anything from safesport. He doesn’t ride at rated shows it seems, just there with the barn. The trainer/girlfriend seems unconcerned. The google results of his name show a case text that is sad reading for those interested
