Rich Fellers

They didn’t fund that move, he moved before she was officially his client, although I think she’d bought a horse from him. I rode at that facility (not with him but with the trainer who bought the farm from the Chapmans) for a few years while his program was still there. That being said, they still had to have made hundreds of thousands from her as a client.

And litigation is stressful and would open the victim up to being deposed. There are many reasons why a civil suit is not always the right answer. I agree with you 100%

Nancy Grace, instead of mentioning your unnamed “sources out west” who are wondering about real estate transactions, just be honest and say that you continue to create and spread rumors -about both families- as way to get information from other posters on this forum.

Or. you can tell us what difference it makes to your sources who funded the farm.

This is soooooo true and if only people could truly understand this victims would be a lot better off in their recoveries.

And you might feel differently at different times. My family has had a situation like this and also one in which a drunk driver killed a (nuclear) family member. We did not pursue litigation for that one. It was really horrific. I feel differently about that one and this one. I think involving minors changes my feelings here. But, yes, they are mine alone, my personal reaction to our personal situation.

It’s high time that people should pay for their crimes. No one knows the devastating effects of what these people do, they come and haunt the victims long after the fact. These people destroy lives. Rich was always smug, the hero, no one can touch me. His demurring character always trying to put you in your place. Don’t palm this off , I know personally. When we watched him win the world cup in Holland, he absolutely ignored the fact we knew him. The Dutch thought he was so rude as he refused to celebrate his win with them. he just left the stadium and I personally witnessed that.

@Carrie1,

Please know that you and your brave and resilent daughter have my unwavering support, and the support of many others.

I can’t imagine what you are going through.

I can imagine a little of what Maggie is going through. I’ve been in a similar situation, but it wasn’t national news. But I can taste the shame and fear and ostracism like it was yesterday.

Stay strong. Hug Maggie for me. And both of you, keep your heads high. The “blame the victim (victim’s parent’s)” people are revealing a lot more about themselves and their own morality than they realize.

You should probably know that it’s exactly the frothing at the mouth for this kind of unrelated information that keeps stuff like this out of the courts.

It doesn’t matter what they did or didn’t pay for. It doesn’t matter if they paid Rich Fellers one cent or $10m. He took what wasn’t his to take, and something that wasn’t for sale.

I know what you’re trying to get at, but it’s gross. Stop it.

@Carrie1, thank you for being there for your daughter. I have been in your daughter’s shoes, and she has shown bravery beyond measure that I myself didn’t have. I wish your family the best in healing and moving on, however you choose is right for you, and that this doesn’t diminish Maggie’s love for horses and riding.

?? Are you saying the Dutch are rude? Just trying to figure your post out.

Could be that they have a high tolerance for asshatty behavior.

Many people would say Dutch people are rude. They are very literal and very forthright. Or as I like to call them, German Light.

I read this last night and thought of maggie. Things need to change in so many places. Her strength and grace is inspiring. You raised a strong young woman.

Wow. That was a fascinating read, BITSA. I had no idea about J.D. Salinger. I’m curious to read “At Home in the World” now.

Very enlightening piece with so many similarities to several prominent Safe Sport cases, including the Rich Fellers one.

I particularly appreciated this quote from the article:

"Consider the irony of suggesting it’s the woman herself at fault for sharing her story, not the fault of the man, for having made the story happen."

I think what bothers me the most about Rich Fellers and his arrest, is that a little over 11 years ago, many parents moved their junior riders to Rich and his program when it came to light that another BN Oregon trainer had been ‘involved’ with his junior riders, and ‘liked them young’. It was all hushed up, but here on this coast, people knew. Rich gained several new junior clients at that time. This just makes me incredibly sad, especially for Maggie and her family.
