Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!

green pony in MD needs a rider

I have a 6 year old, 11 hand pony that is green that needs some work so my 5 year old son can ride him. He’s ridden him with me leading him, but not since last fall, and we’d like to get to the point where he can ride around by himself. The pony is quiet, just out of shape and green. I am way too big to ride him (5’6, 150+lbs) but the woman I bought him from last fall was probably 5’4, 125 lbs and she rode him. So a small adult should be okay. Since he is green, please no young children and no beginners. He is located at my farm in Howard County, MD. Opportunity for a child that is a good rider to have a very cute pony to ride and even show if you have access to a trailer (I don’t have one right now). Please PM me if you’re interested.

Riderless Horse, DC Area

Responsible, hard working. OK with green as long as they are sane and quiet. Flat or over fences schooling, as well as trail rides or whatever kind of conditioning you’d like.

Horseless H/J Rider- Ellicott City, Maryland

Hey!
I’m starting a new job in central Maryland around July. I’m hoping to find a nice barn to settle down, but in the meanwhile I’d love to exercise and lesson with someone locally.

So here is a bit about me: I’ve been riding for years, mainly hunters. I competed in the IHSA throughout college, fox hunted, and occasionally dabbled in jumpers.

I’m about 110ish lbs and 5’4, totally comfortable and experienced on larges and I could probably ride mediums as well.

PM me if you have any ideas! And yep, I am super paranoid so I’m using an alter!

Horseless Rider in Indianapolis

Hi! I’m a 24 year old female. Mature, responsible, friendly, communicative, sensitive and VERY experienced. I am very positive and make no room for “barn drama” in my life. Riding is a positive, spiritual thing for me. Therefore, thats the way I keep it. I’ve been riding since I was 10 years old and have extensive experience on the A/AA hunter circuits and 1st level dressage training. I am willing to further my dressage training as I am falling in love with dressage! I have shown up to 3’6" and have brought along several hot, green, sensitive, quirky horses. I’m pretty much comfortable riding anything, unless its got dangerous habits (bucking, rearing, etc.).

I am 5’2", 110lbs and can easily ride ponies! I am willing to travel an hour (maybe more) outside downtown indianapolis, for the right situations.

I would be happy to help school horses someone doesn’t have time for, catch ride, campaign, or help you or your child with their horse.

I am patient and believe in the fundamentals of a good dressage foundation, instead of martingales and other false aides. I also make sure to bring horses along VERY slowly! I also keep a daily diary of progress to show to show the owner.

Please PM me or call me @ 717-468-4846 if interested. Thanks!!

Horseless Event Rider in Birmingham, AL

Hi, I’m a college student in Birmingham, Al. I reside here year round. I’m looking for a work-for-rides/free lease arrangement. I have a part-time job, but that plus school and gas makes money a little tight for boarding, leases, etc. I’m 5’8", 115lbs so while I love riding ponies, they frequently wiggle out from under me
As far as experience goes, my mother is an eventing trainer in Mobile, Al. I have competed through Novice at the recognized level (the cobbler’s children have no shoes) but have schooled through 4th level in dressage, and am comfortable jumping courses 4’ and down. I’ve spent two summers as a working student away from my mother, and the now-8-warmblood-eventer-I-can’t-afford-to-board-in-Birmingham was born in my lap. I have also taught beginner/intermediate (not past BN eventing) for three years, managed biannual schooling shows, etc.
Send me a PM if you have or know of a horse I can ride. I’m comfortable on greenies as well as old hands, and really just need to get some saddle time in!

Horseless in West Georgia…

Location: West Georgia - 20 mi. from Atlanta

Doesn’t have to be riding time / not really looking for riding time at this point - can easily be feeding, grooming, etc. time. I live approximately twenty miles west of Atlanta, but I’m willing to drive.

Experience with miniatures to drafts, foals to aged stallions, but I won’t put myself in a dangerous situation (see “unhandled two year old stalled-all-their-lives-and-would-rather-kill-you monsters-because-their-owners-are-too-afraid-to-move-them”)

Also have experience driving single-hitch Vis-A-Vis and Surreys.

Depending on distance, I am primarily available on the weekends (with a few weekends here-and-there unavailable due to our upcoming wedding.)

Non-smoker.
No drugs.
Not a drinker.
Have reliable transportation.

Trail buddy needed–I’ve got the horse. Chester County PA

Hello, I’m having trouble finding time to ride both my horses. I live adjacent to miles of hacking. I would love to find someone to come ride with me on one of my horses. Not looking for beginners but experienced adult riders. Please PM for more information. I live near Unionville.

Rider needed for horse in Clifton, VA

I need someone to ride my 5 yo OTTB (he’s very dull and quiet unless he feels something evil is emerging from the grass on one end of the ring). Like, so quiet, when he doesn’t respond to your spurs and you whack him with your stick, he still doesn’t respond.

I need him in consistent work for the next 3-4 weeks while I heal two broken ribs (yes, from a spin-fall when evil lurked on one end of the ring).

He is big (17.1) and young and lovely to ride but I want an experienced, dedicated, conscientious rider who will follow my program and not get too creative with how he’s being ridden now.

Nice, private barn off Wycklow in Clifton, nice ring that you don’t often have to share with others (which means you need to be comfortable riding on your own from time to time).

I will come out to help tack up and put away/clean tack and of course help with initial pointers but he’s pretty straightforward.

Hunter rider preferred but not a requirement. He has a very light, responsive mouth and is very responsive to seat and leg for lateral movements, just not very forward.

Oppty to continue having rides on him at least twice a week indefinitely after I heal if both parties see a fit.

PM me first and we can arrange a phone discussion from there.

DRESSAGE RIDER MONTGOMERY COUNTY MD

Experienced young dressage rider (has bronze medal and half of silver medal, multiple time BLM champion, etc.) looking for horses to ride! Would love to find anything - from a lease (at my barn or yours) to just opportunities to ride your horse whenever you would like! Can drive, some northern Virginia/Frederick county/etc. doable! Please PM to set something up!

I have one, possibly two horses, that need a rider in Collegeville, PA

  1. Ollie is a 12 y.o., TB?, 16 hh. gelding, dark bay. Has done trail and low level dressage. He does not jump. He is very sweet, but a bit goofy. He has some maintenance issues so I’d prefer he stay home, but a free lease off the farm is possible. He is available now.

  2. Buzz is a 19 y.o. grey Arabian gelding, 15 hh. He is a former endurance horse who now does trail and low level dressage. He is also high maintenance in the supplement department but otherwise sound. However, I don’t expect that he will become available until September.

  3. Harpo is up for giveaway (see Giveaways forum), but until gone, he needs a job of some kind. He is an 8 y.o. red dun Morga-Flinger gelding, 15 hh. He is green but willing as long as you are light and kind. If you get strong, he’ll just plain plant his feet and not move. He’s solid in W/T but Canter is iffy at the moment; he needs more consistent work. He is sweet and VERY smart.

Please PM me if interested.

Horse Available for Experienced Rider in Western NY

Very attractive 15.2 1997 Paint mare - Have owned her for 12 years, has done everything from 4H, APHA breed shows, open shows, low jumpers, dressage, and LL eventing. I consider her pretty well “broke”, but she is a mare. She likes to randomly argue over things she already knows, she can be quick, and she might spook at nothing (just to see if you’re paying attention). When she’s good, she’s amazing. When she’s bad, ride her through it, lol. Very responsive and fun to ride - leg yields, haunches in/out, turn on hindquarters/fore, etc. She is very good off the farm, you can ride holding the buckle on the trails. She knows when she’s at a show, she will perform. I do not have time to ride her.

PM me if interested.

Adult re-rider looking to pick up some saddle time in WNY. 20+ years of experience riding/owning.

I’ve spent the last decade on mostly greenies and projects. I am a quiet rider and get along with most horses. However, given the fact that I’m coming back after a significant amount of time off to have my son, I would prefer to be on something relatively broke, honest and straightforward. (wouldn’t we all, LOL.)

Happy to groom and would be more than willing to help out with chores. Can probably only commit to riding 1-2x a week right now, with potential for more availability later this year.

Thanks!

Adult hunter rider looking for something to ride! I have a 3 yr old TB mare who is going to be started under saddle next month and since we sold our QH last month I don’t have anything in the barn to ride. Would be interested in a free lease or something that just needs to be worked in exchange for some much needed saddle time
