Young rider looking for horses to ride/exercise/compete/bring along in MA

Hi there,
I’m a young rider just recently moved to the Carlisle/Chelmsford (MA) area with my mare, and I am looking for some riding opportunities with other horses. I was wondering if anyone had (or knew of anyone who has) any horses that they would like to be ridden/competed for them, or worked more often? Do you have a green horse that you would like to be given some more milage and more education? I am situated in Carlisle, MA so that sort of area would be ideal, although I will consider surrounding areas depending on the distance. You can of course, bring your horse to me if you wish. I have experience with young/green horses, OTTBs, etc and am a confident rider. I am not yet financially set to own more than one horse (having just moved here) but would certainly love to ride some young (or adult) horses to bring along in the meantime and to help further my riding experience and education. My ambitions are intermediate eventing within the next couple of years, however I also have ambitions (and experience) with dressage and in the jumper ring. I currently have one sponsor, but I hope to get some more sponsorship once out and about competing more in this area.
I would be very appreciative of any opportunities. Please PM me if you have or know of anything! Also PM me if you would like any more info on myself, my experience, ambitions, current horse (and past horses), etc. I have trained with Olympians for years, and trained/bought along horses for other people in the past also. You are more than welcome to come watch me ride, and I also have videos and photos that you can view if necessary.
I have sale prepped horses before too.
Thank you so much!

Horseless hunter/jumper rider in Chicagoland area

Hey all!
I’m a currently horseless h/j gal with about 20 years of experience looking for some extra saddle time. I train with an A circuit jumper barn, lessoning twice a week with the occasional flat schooling 1-2x a week, but do not at the moment have the extra funds to lease or pay for additional hacks.

I’m looking to pick up extra saddle time as I’m currently starting to train and show one of my coach’s horses at 1.1m and I’m finding that my core needs a minimum 4 days a week riding to be effective over the higher fences.

I have lots of experience with green beans as well as working the older trained horse, know how to work with both TBs and WBs, naughty or nice :), can put on miles and training, so on and so forth. Can do lower level dressage work as I flat most of our jumpers with a bare minimum of leg yields, shoulder in, haunches in, counter canter, some half pass, etc.

I’m in the Chicagoland area and willing to travel a bit, so if you have a guy that needs some extra work, please feel free to pm me. I’ll be showing a jumper at Ledges soon so you can even see me ride with my trainer. Thanks!

Hello!
I am a horseless rider in Falls Church,VA desperately missing spending time on and around horses!! I am 24, married, employed full-time during the week. Formerly an upstate NY resident with a horse barn next door and equine-related jobs, I graduated from SUNY Morrisville with a Bachelor’s degree in Equine Science and Business Management. Unfortunately I am no long employed in the equine profession but am instead working for a non-profit, though I am greatly missing being around horses!
Some of my experience:
English -8 years, Very Experienced in Walk/Trot/Canter/etc, Beginner Jumper. 4-H Show experience, some open horse shows.
Western - 4 years on and off, Intermediate Western Rider.
Training - Greenbroke and above, problem horses.
Instruction - 3 years of experience as a Summer Camp Instructor/Barn Manager for two different horse stable summer camps; leading trail rides, teaching entry-level/basic english and western riding techniques to children age 6-16, transporting ponies to events for pony rides.
Also knowledgeable in horse nutrition and health care, (wound care, diagnosing and treating colic, thrush, etc.)

So where does your horse come in? I would very much like to ride! I do not know anyone with horses in the area but would love to! If there is a horse in the nearby area (less than 1 hr away) I would love to ride a week night or two and a weekend day if available. Is your horse not getting enough attention? Needing some more ride time to get him/her through an issue? Getting a little overweight? I would love to help!! I have my own transportation and my gear (my english saddle is still in NY but I have my boots, helmet, grooming kit)

Contact me by email if you think you can help me with my horse-fever!

Horseless Rider - Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

Horseless rider looking for opportunity to get back in the saddle. As a poor graduate student, I have ridden for 10 years, primarily lower level eventing, but have not done much in the past few years. Have worked with green/zany young TBs in the past. Would be comfortable with flat work or jumping, or just poking around and getting some miles in.

My time and money constraints rule out a full-time lease right now, but if you have a horse just needing a workout a few days a week, or a possible partial lease, I would be interested. Please PM with any interest or opportunities.

Horseless Rider - Roseville, CA

I’m a horseless rider who is missing horses very much. I’d love to find a horse who needs a little extra work 1-2 days each week either on the trail or arena. I’ve owned and leased in the past, but haven’t ridden consistently in quite a while. Since I have a full time job, family, and school, I’d like to stay within 30 minutes of Roseville. Thank you!

Riderless Horses in Raymore, MO

I have five horses that could use some ride time. Right now between work, college, and a little one they’re only getting ridden two-three times a week. They vary from re-hab, greenies, to some very nice made Hunters. They just need someone to come ride them. Here’s some descriptions of them.
Legacy- is the re-hab guy he just needs someone to walk-trot him around. Great for beginners-advanced.
Dee - is a very talented opinionated hunter. Leg yields, shoulder in, haunches in, & lead changes. Advanced
Twister- 3’ jumper auto changes, likes to make noise. Beginner-advanced.
Splashy- made 3’+ hunter easy quiet. Beginner-advanced
Molly- 13.3hh hunter/eq/jumper pony does everything. Beginner-advanced
I’d love someone (or a few) that want something to ride during the week & other weekend.
Pm me I’d interested.

horseless rider Newark, DE

22 year old college student looking for a horse to ride. Very experienced with hunter/jumpers. Riding since I could walk. Love bringing along young horses and working with thoroughbreds off the track. Would prefer something that needs a little work rather than something that just needs exercise but at this point I’ll take anything! Can’t afford a lease or lesson situation with school right now. I’ve been riding a sale horse the past few months but I share her with others which has made my schedule very inconsistent. 5’1, 135lbs. Soft hands, but a confident rider.

Riderless horse post

Hi I just saw your post quoted below. I am a very experienced rider that is relatively new to the area and looking for a training situation like you have described below. I spent 8 years at cornell in NY training their lesson horses and really enjoyed it. I am available Wed and Sat afternoons, Sunday any time and all other evenings. Are you still looking for a rider? If so please let me know! Thanks so much

Christine

Looking for some people to help me out with my two superb TB mares! Exceptional jumpers, both have great movement and awesome temperaments. Need solid riders as they are both young. I can’t just let these girls sit all winter, and since I can’t ride them, someone should! I would be offering them for free lease at our farm. They are kept in the big show barn attached to the indoor ring, so convenience is not a problem! We will be showing, so show opportunities will be available as well! This is a great opportunity to work with a great horse without having to pay costs!

16.2 H 5 year old mare. Shown through Beginner Novice, could go Training in a minute. Lovely movement and bold jumper.

16.0 H 7 year old mare. Minimal show experience, but a lot of talent. Good brain. Loves to jump and really coming along on the flat.

Thanks![/QUOTE]

Horseless college student: DC metro or Gaithersburg, MD area

Hi! I am a horseless rider looking for a horse to ride on weekends and once or twice a week. I have been riding for 10 years, have had 2 free lease horses (an old TB for 3 years of high school and an 8 yo TB for a summer) and currently am taking lessons with Lyndi Prettyman-Caruso. Most of my experience is hunter/jumper.

I do not have a problem riding green horses but prefer a nice temperament so I don’t die. I am 5’4" and 115 lbs so I could ride a large pony as well.

Please PM me if you’re in the DC metro area or near Gaithersburg specifically and you think we might be able to make a match.

MO, between Columbia and Fulton

We have a couple horses coming in for training, and I won’t have the time to work much with our schoolie. She’s 16.3h and very sane and sensible, has taught beginner lessons, etc. Right now she gets hacked out on the trails periodically and that’s about it. I’d be open to someone riding at our place, we don’t have an arena, but have a round pen, plenty of fields, and miles and miles of trails. PM if interested!

Horseless rider in Walnut Creek, CA, looking for a very short term (2-3 weeks) opportunity to hack around on a few horses. I have a very strong foundation in english flatwork and am confidently jumping up to 18 inches. I have also trained a lot of small ponies, because while I’m tall (5’5") I’m very light, about 100 pounds. Please PM me or email me chameg123@yahoo.com if you think you might have something. Thank you!

This thread gets way to cumbersome. Why don’t we break them out into seperate threads for each state? That way, people could actually find a match much more easily?

If people would just post locations in the titles it would be easier…

I agree, I feel like that would work better

The problem with posting 50+ different threads are that they will get lost. With everyone on one thread, it helps to keep it at the top, so an easy reminder.

We can’t have a sticky for a gazillion threads.

Horseless rider in Western MA

I’m an experienced rider living in Western Massachusetts looking for anything to ride! I have lots of hunter/jumper experience, some eventing as a teen. Before college I showed in the 3’6" equitation, and I rode in Open on my college’s IHSA team. I’ve ridden all types of horses, please let me know if you know of anything or have anything that might work!

Riderless horse in Sacramento, CA

Location: Sacramento, California (on the border with Elk Grove)

I’m looking for someone to half lease my dressage horse to share expenses and because I’m too busy with work to be able to work him as often as he needs. He is located at Panoshe Ranch on Exelsior near Calvine. He’s an Arabian, about 14.3hh but very stocky and feels bigger than he is.

Solo is a very good boy, but he is a stallion and not a beginner horse. That said, I’m definitely an amateur and have a great time and feel safe on him. I also give lessons to a 15-year-old on him. He knows most of the dressage movements through third level. He’s an agreeable boy with a good work ethic and very easy to handle. He has a good, correct foundation in dressage basics.

You can learn more about him and see pictures on his website at www.capthansolo.com. email me at twnkltoz@gmail.com.
