Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!

Riderless horse and pony near Cincinnati, OH

I have an ex-jumper mare and also a green pony who need ridden. I would like to sell them both this summer. I will pay for half your lessons, pay for showing, and will give commission when they sell if you are a good rider who can commit to riding one or both of them a certain number of days per week.

The pony is 3, is broke to w/t/c but is still green. She is about 13 hands and is big bodied. Quiet, cute mover, sweet and easy to work with, and has never bucked, reared, etc… just needs ride time and I’m too big!

The jumper is a VERY nice TB mare, Belgian WB approved, 16 hands and 10 years old. Played polo, then jumped around at 3’6"+, then had a baby, and then went off the grid for a few years. I bought her off craigslist, skinny and nervous. She’s back up to weight and has been doing well under saddle, but is having stifle issues. They don’t lock, they’re just loose - she can w/t and jump crossrails fine with a rider. She is getting them blistered tomorrow actually and hopefully she will be able to go back to a full on riding career after that. She can be a typical TB jumper type, so isn’t for someone lacking confidence. That said, she has never set a foot wrong! She just does best with someone who can make her work and keep her focused or she gets looky at stuff. She has the potential to go back to jumping big stuff and I’m a dressage rider, so I’d love to find someone to get her back in the jumper ring!

Horseless Rider near Seattle

I am 22 years old, have been riding off and on for the last 15 years. Mostly English, a tiny bit of Western. I have experience with lower-level dressage and jumping crossrails, really just looking for a way to stay in riding shape over the summer. The majority of my horse experience has been with OTTBs, but in the last year I have started riding my trainer’s warmbloods. I am willing to go anywhere in King County. I am happy to do stable chores in exchange for riding.

alittlegray, depending where you are in VA and DD’s level/confidence, His Haffyness would love a new buddy to keep him occupied. He’s not bad, will just take advantage of a rider he thinks he can get away with not working for.[/QUOTE]

Thank you, that is an awesome offer! We are in Fredericksburg, so not sure how far that is from you? Dd is a very confident rider and will hop on anything sane and willing. She is very independant seat/hands on the flat and soft rider, schooling 3’ to 3’3" o/f at home and showing 2’9" to 3" in the hunter/jumpers. I would be happy to link you to video I took today of her schooling with her assistant trainer if you want to see how she rides. (cell phone video, sorry)

Horseless Rider in Charlotte

Hi all,

I’m a recent Auburn graduate and just moved to Charlotte last week for a new job. In high school, I evented through Novice and dipped my toes into a bit of Training. Also pony clubbed to my C2. In college, I rode a handful of OTTBs and, in my last year, half-leased a wonderful warmblood. Ideally, I’d love to find something to ride a few times a week with hopes of taking weekly lessons. I do live in Southend so it needs to be somewhat commutable. Would love to be around 30 minutes, will tolerate up to an hour. Bonus points if its an active barn that loves to go to events, clinics, and schoolings. I enjoy tagging along, playing ‘horse show mom,’ and taking pictures.

If you think we could be a match, please email me at mandythedesigner [at] gmail.com. Thank you so much!

We’re about an hour away, give or take allowing for traffic and where in F’burg. :frowning: So very far.

BUT my aunt has a gelding (20’s but you wouldn’t know it Quarab sweetie pie knows his job, takes care of you while making you work to get the good kind of horse) He was just cleared for continuing work, she’s trying to find a lighter rider for him. He’s in the F’burg area, easy to get to from Rt 3 or 17. I can’t get down there regularly, but would be happy to put you two in touch  Love that guy. He was my first show mount after a 7 year hiatus, he made me look good. Taught my sons how to ride on him. Let me know if you’re interested.

Horseless Rider MD/NoVa

I am an intermediate rider looking for some extra riding time this summer. Needs to be within an hour of DC. I am a quiet rider and am comfortable on horses and ponies.

Horseless Rider: WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS

I’ve recently returned from study abroad and am itching to get back into riding. As a college student I just can’t afford my own horse right now, a sad reality, so instead I’m looking for some type of lease situation. I’ve ridden for the past ten plus years, mainly hunter/jumper, everything from ponies to 17.2 powerhouses. However I haven’t been able to ride for about a year, so would prefer a not too hot or sensitive horse. I’m also only 5’2" so I can school or train your ponies, I’m really not too picky – I just want to be able to ride again. Send me a PM and we can talk more!

Horseless rider in Northern CA

I’m 23 years old, home in the Central Valley for a few months before heading up north for work and would love to help ride. Trained hunter/jumpers for the past 12 years, most recently (ending in 2010) I showed in the A/O hunters. I sold my horse two years ago and have ridden whenever I can around school to keep in shape. I’d be happy with anything, even a happy old retired horse that can just do light hacks. I just want to ride

In California.

Horseless Rider - Looking for Free Lease

Hey there,

I am a 22-year old man who will be attending Graduate School at the University of Connecticut in the fall, and I am looking for a way to ride affordably through that time. I would like to know if any free-leases are available in or around the Storrs, Mansfield area. I currently ride English, and would prefer an English horse, but I would be willing to ride Western as well. Please contact me for more information. E-mail is preferable.

Horseless Rider in Los Angeles

I’m a recent college graduate moving back to the LA area and am looking to ride.

I’ll be working a ton and just need to spend some time with horses. I rode IHSA for 4 years so I’m comfortable on most reasonably sane horses. I was also recently exercising polo ponies which I would be open to again or just trying something completely new!

I live in a little town called Shadow Hills which is in the Burbank/La cañada/Lake View Terrace area but I would be willing travel 30-45 minutes. 2-3 days a week would be ideal and after I get settled in my new job I would be willing to chip in a little bit for costs but it would be super minimal.

Anyone want to save my sanity and allow me some barn time?

Wonders- I know you PM’d me about my Haffy, and while I am still looking for a lease, may be able to help you out. My trainer usually has horses that need to be ridden, and I’m still looking for my mare… Shoot me a PM if you’d be interested in coming out?

Several nice horses/pony could use some rides in MD

I have 3 nice horses and a large pony that could use a few more rides a week then I am able to give them. They are located in Burtonsville/Silver Spring, MD Here are the details:

  1. 5 yr old Hanx 16.2 hand mare. Still green but very willing and is going well under saddle. Going to make an amazing upper level dressage horse or eventer.
  2. 10yr old 16 hand Oldenburg gelding. Was previously used in intermediate lessons. Show hunter
  3. 16yr old TB 15.2 hand gelding. Super easy and quiet. Show hunter.
  4. 9yr old 14hand pony mare. Green but willing. Also available for free offsite lease.

I am trying to find an experienced rider who is looking to get some more riding time on some nice horses. Possible showing for right person.

Horseless Rider in Southern Illinois.

I’m a graduate student and just moved to Carbondale for school. I evented in high school (showed training, schooling preliminary) and kept riding through college through schooling naughty ponies, riding green youngsters, riding friends’ horses and summer working student gigs at hunter/jumper barns.

I have a knack for the tricky or spooky ones, but also enjoy a quiet hack around the trails. I’m a smallish adult (and all legs) so comfortable on anything from medium ponies to draft crosses.

I’d be interested in riding youngsters, trail horses, dressage horses, eventers, hunters/jumpers or perhaps getting a bit more experience riding western.

I’m happy to provide references and can even end you video from a dressage schooling show my latest OTTB projects (back home in OR) and I just went to

Horseless Rider in Northern Virginia

I am an experienced Hunter/Jumper and Event rider looking for a horse to ride within 20 miles of the Middleburg or Leesburg area. I’ve competed in the 3’6" Hunters and Jumpers and Evented through Training level.

I just moved to the area and am a little strapped financially so I am willing to work (feed, muck, braid, clip etc) in exchange for any riding I’d be able to get. I’ve been around horses for 17 years and worked in barns for most of that time so I take exceptional care of the horses I’m responsible for. I’m pretty tall (close to 6’) so unless you want a good laugh I probably won’t fit on anything much smaller than 16h. Thanks!

horseless rider in southern MD

I’ve been riding pretty much my entire life (am 36YO) with the majority of my experience in hunters/equitation. Have ridden with small barns and large show barns alike (most recently the latter) and have shown a good bit too. I’d love to help exercise your ponies and could come out weekday evenings and weekends. I’m 5’10" so probably not a good fit for the wee ones. Have my own tack and am quite handy around the barn too. Would enjoy helping with mucking, cleaning, grooming, etc. as I miss that too!

Buglet–I just sent you a PM. Forgot to add that I’m small and light enough (and comfortable on) ponies as well.

Northwest Raleigh, Durham area

Im looking for something to ride or half lease in the Raleigh/Durham area. Ive ridden for almost 20 years and shown for 13. Ive ridden just about every discipline but most recently Ive ridden and shown up to 2nd level dressage. Ive schooled all of third. I evented a few years ago and would love to get back into that too. Ive ridden and trained lots of horses so I could handle a horse that needs an advanced rider.

I would like to find a horse or pony to ride that is fairly sane around the Northwest Raleigh area. The ability to show is a huge plus. Maybe you have an extra horse and need a show buddy? If you think you might have something, please PM me.

Riderless horse, LaCrosse WI-Winona MN area

TB mare, sound and sane, 15.2 hands. Could use someone to ride her another 2-3 days/ week, often more as my work schedule doesn’t always allow me to get out there on a regular basis. Evented at BN a little as a young horse, done quite a bit of H/J and dressage, knows movements through 2nd level, but is quite rusty.
LOVES to jump, loves to go to shows. Is 20 and has a touch of stiffness, but is well maintained and acts 1/2 her age. Good manners, good work ethic.
