riderless horses and horseless riders?

Horseless Rider in Chicagoland

Why can’t all you Riderless Horse people be near me! I’d give my right arm to ride…although, then my riding ability may be more challenging.

I’m horseless in the suburbia outside Chicago. Rode plenty when I was younger (H/J/Eq) and even did a stint at a Wyoming dude ranch just to be able to ride. Now I’m just out of shape - but can still do fine riding just about anything. I LOVE flat work (when I’m in shape that is), can jump fine, take horses out on trails, whatever you like. Heck - I’d be happy to just come muck stalls and groom, groundwork - whatever needs doing. Honestly.

And I can even be a 2 for 1 deal - I’ve got a 13 year old stepdaughter that rides too!

HORSELESS RIDER IN HARRISONBURG/STAUNTON VA AREA

near Fair Hill, MD-Lg pony, Sm horse

In PA but very close to Fair Hill, MD I have 3 horses, one is ridden by another COTHer. She would like some company and the other 2 horses could use some exercise. My insurance requires a waiver signed annually. I won’t promise a long term use of the horses but would like someone consistent. One horse is close to 14.2 H the other is about 14.3 H and they are Nokota horses. The 14.2 H is built like a Haflinger and the other is a bit more refined, a traditional type of Nokota www.nokotahorse.org

I don’t have a lot of saddles, but I have one that fits the shorter pony height horse. The other one is more narrow and an average saddle may fit him, perhaps the dressage saddle I have may fit. It’s an old style Stubben dressage saddle. I’m not good at saddle fitting so it’s hard for me to tell.

If anyone is close to my farm and interested please email me at Barnmom45@aol.com It should be a pleasant fall for riding.

Horseless Rider - Massachusetts

Horseless rider in the area northwest of Boston, MA (Harvard/Littleton area). Willing to travel to areas accessible by Rte. 3/2/495. Best match is a real steady Eddie that has been there and done that for low level dressage and general poking around in the ring, nothing crazy. Semi-retired schoolmaster would be perfect, I love the oldsters!

Horseless rider in New Orleans, LA

Hi, I am a currently horseless (I have 2 retirees, a yearling and a PSG horse rehabbing from a suspensory injury) looking for a nice horse to train and compete in dressage. I have trained 2 horses ( a TB/QH and a Dutch Warmblood) to PSG and earned my USDF Bronze and Silver Medals on them. I am especially good with mares. I have no room at my farm for another horse, so am looking for something local or a horse that could be boarded locally. I will ride, train, compete your horse at no charge for the right horse/owner combination. In exchange, you will pay only the horse’s expenses. I will get a ride on a nice horse and you will have a better trained/more valuable horse without incurring training fees. Please feel free to PM me if interested. Thanks! Denise[/QUOTE]

Horseless rider in Charlottesville

I’m a horseless rider in Charlottesville, VA. I’ve been riding hunters/equitation for 14 years. I graduated from Sweet Briar College where I was a member of the varsity IHSA (3rd place at Nationals) and Varsity Hunter Show Teams. I’m looking for something to ride in Charlottesville or anywhere nearby!

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, I really just want to get out to the barn. If you have some youngsters or things that need more miles or if you just don’t have enough time, let me know! I’d also be willing to work and teach in exchange for something to ride!

riderless horse in S.E. CT

I have a 16.1 gorgeous TB Hunter that hasn’t been ridden in about a year.
Definately prefers to be in work. He’s got energy to go on forever.
Very nice guy. Needs experienced rider. He’s at my home, so nice private
ring (no traffic). Showing a possibility.

Riderless horse in West Chester, PA

Well, he’s not really riderless. Just not getting enough work. He’s a 15.1 Morgan gelding, 9 yo, and very talented at dressage and driving. DH drives competitively and I don’t compete at all, but recently developed some confidence issues and can’t work him often enough or push him enough for his full potential under saddle – which he needs to have done for competitive driving. A friend of ours helps out, but she’s little rusty and doesn’t have that much time, so if we could find a third rider to share saddle duty, it would be perfect.

We’re looking for someone who rides dressage, w/t/c, collections and lengthening – though more would be a big plus. But we’d also consider a less “fancy” rider with experience and willingness to work him regularly. He’s really a great horse and once he (and I) get back up to speed, we may consider a half-lease. But right now, he just needs mileage.

He’s kept at a private barn, with regulation dressage and driving arenas outdoors, lots of fields with trails, driving hazards and cones. It’s a beautiful and quiet area.

We may soon set up some outdoor lights and maybe even a tent for the riding arena, but right now are limited to daylight hours. I’d also need someone to work with me – mostly working him and then babysitting me. I have very flexible hours and can work around most schedules – but am most definitely not a morning person.

Please PM if interested.

horseless rider Fairfield County CT, Northern Westchester

Hello again, my kids are starting 1st grade next week and I’ve got nothing but time (for the 1st time in 6 yrs!)…

I am an adult re-rider (39 yrs old):

THEN: started riding at age 9, right up through college. Bought my horse at age 13 and went from playing around, pony club etc to the 3’6" hunters and medal/maclay. Went to college and rode successfully in open eq on my IHSA team where I was named MVP and went to nationals for the Cacchione Cup competition. Was a pretty good rider back then

NOW: started riding again two years ago, pretty out of shape but it came back quickly and I was jumping little courses on schoolies. Rode another COTHer’s retired, but spunky, show horse for about 18 months until he was sold this summer. Haven’t ridden since May and VERY depressed about it.

I can ride pretty much anything but prefer 16 h and over as I am 5’7". Used to riding retirees lately but also very experienced with greenies. I’d love to find something to ride during the week (not able to do weekends), pretty much 3-4 days a week or 1 day a week, I’m flexible, just want to get back aboard. Love to be somewhere that I can take lessons and jump, but also fine with just trail riding and hacking.

I am in Ridgefield, CT so open to anywhere within a 30 minute radius.

PS For a really awesome situation I would be willing to half lease…

Horseless Rider in Sussex County, NJ

I have been riding for 25 + years and am currently horseless. Did the medal/maclay, jr. hunters years ago. Worked for Grand Prix riders, love flatwork, and really taking my time to make the horse right…

Looking for rides in the County. Have a full time job and family but really miss riding right now.

Horseless Rider Atascadero CA

Adult in Boston seeks riding arrangement

{Temporarily NOT horseless! Thanks EventingDiva!}

Grad student looking for a horse to ride once or twice a week to supplement my weekly lessons. Have half-leased horses for a couple years, but need a cheaper arrangement now that I’m in mounds of debt for school  Perfectly willing to chip in with chores/expenses (i.e. supplements/shoeing) though.

Am not too picky about the type of horse/riding, as long as the horse isn’t very green. I’ve trained in dressage, hunt-seat, and western pleasure (novice of all disciplines, master of none  Currently taking lessons with a foxhunting trainer. I like to ride outside of the ring as much as possible and love trail riding out with others.

You can see pictures of me riding here- http://flickr.com/search/?q=horse&w=47988672%40N00

Can drive up to an an hour outside of Boston-probably Norfolk, eastern Middlesex or lower Essex counties.

Riderless Horse in Leesburg, VA

I have a 7 year old gelding who needs a rider. He’s got a friendly personality and is a very athletic jumper and has been shown dressage. Needs a skilled rider, not a steady-eddy lesson type horse. Great trails, opportunity to attend competitions, etc. PM me for details.

Horses to ride in Aspen, CO

A bit of a longshot, I realize, since there don’t seem to be many COTHers in my neck of the woods, but…I’ll throw it out there anyways. (wish I was still in Charlottesville, VA, as there are lots o’ riders out there):

A 14.2hh Welsh/TB gelding, very sensitive, not an easy ride, dominant personality but super athletic; does best worked regularly (I try to get him out 3-5x/week, but could use help on this). English only.

A 15.2hh QH gelding, super sweet, easy, does trails and a bit of ringwork. Not working right now, but great brain and would be easy to pull out of the field and get going again. Goes English or western.
