riderless horses and horseless riders?

Horseless near Seattle

Experience in eventing primarily and WP ages ago, but willing to try anything. Love working with greenies and OTTBs. I’m a very soft rider and deal well with sensitive horses, but have worked with plenty of horses who need a more assertive ride as well. I was a Pony clubber for many years and have been riding since I was 5 (23 now).

Caveat is I haven’t been in the saddle for a year so will need some legging up. I’m very flexible and easy to get along with - both with people and horses  I’m located in Mukilteo and am willing to travel ~30 miles.

To Tallabred

Hi! My name is Sarah and I am new to Tallahassee (I am a grad student here). I was wondering if you are still looking for someone to ride with, or if you might know of someone who has a horse that they need exercised. I have been riding since I was 8 in all kinds of disciplines (I was never very competitive, mostly just because I enjoyed it…). I had to sell my Thoroughbred, who I loved for 7 years, when I entered college because I couldn’t afford to keep him. I would love to be able to ride somehow, so I appreciate your help and consideration!
Thank you!

Horseless rider Southern Maryland

Through this entire thread I have seen only two MD posts. Isn’t Maryland “horse country”?!

I am a college graduate with ten years professional training in classical/balanced seat training with a family background of western (I know, I know), and brief experience as a professional rider/groom of gaited and nongaited horses. Finishing college required sacrificing horse ownership but having graduated, being horseless is soo depressing. My boots and helmet stare at me everyday from my closet. I have very limited experience starting horses under saddle but am ideally seeking a trained horse who’s gotten rusty or out of shape from the owner’s lack of time. And I love OTTBs!

Anybody’s pasture potato need some exercise?

Bicoastal, you have a PM.

Horseless Rider in Glasgow, Scotland, UK.

Can do public transport or ride-sharing or figure something out. Would be interested in one-offs in Scotland at large (during vacation or on long weekends, for instance), as well as regular riding. I am generally an all-weather rider - a gross day riding is still better than a gross day in the library!!

Experience: “A” Pony Club, Eventing to Intermediate/FEI**, Canadian level 1 instructor. I’ve done some hunting, lots of trail riding & hacking. Have worked getting hunters fit and riding 2nd string in the past. Have ridden most anything from 13.2hh spoilt ponies to off-track TBs to 18hh heavy-weight hunters.

Michigan, near MSU

I’m a vet student at MSU (East Lansing.) I left my horses at home and I’d love to find a horse to ride a couple times a week. I ride mostly hunter/jumper, some dressage. I love trail riding and would be happy just hacking as well. Lots of experience- does not have to be an easy horse.

Thanks! PM me if you know of anything.

Want to ride “the horse America made?”

I have several very nice young, green, and/or well schooled American Saddlebred dressage horses who could use more work, and more attention. These are horses who have been correctly started as dressage horses, and need to keep moving in their education- which could help yours, too! Intermediate and above riding experience, please.

FEI level dressage trainer/instructor/rider on site, also.

Please PM for details- located in Chester Springs, PA.

Riderless Horse (sorta) in Marlboro, MA

Grand Prix school master available for partial on farm lease. Has a little bit of stinghalt-only noticeable at the walk and not seen at all when he is in constant work. I am looking for someone who wants to ride 1-2 a week, mainly dressage. Horse is very knowlegable in all disciplines. Very patient and talented yet a very fun ride! Large 16 yr old Selle Francias gelding with a in-your pocket personality. Am an instructor myself. Other intructors available on premises. Friendly barn in Marlboro, MA. Indoor, outdoor, track, and jump field. Looking for someone to help me keep this talented boy in shape as I have a few OTTB that I am currently working with. Must be a dependable lessor- no young children please! PM for inquiries!

Riderless horse in Loudoun

I have a perch/qh cross (looks mostly perch!) that’s looking for a rider. He’s 6 yrs, 16.1 and a sweetheart - a bit goofy. I’d still call him green, as he has trouble understanding that contact doesn’t mean stop (pokes his nose out), but he knows his leads, is fairly balanced, jumps up to 2’6" (though he hasn’t done too much), and is pretty easy going.

I’m 7 months pregnant and now that my daughter is starting school again he doesn’t have a rider. I’d love to find someone who wants to take him out to hunt this year, but just someone who wants to just enjoy is fine too.

Providing your own saddle would be best. I haven’t checked lately, but when his weight is good he fits in a medium.

I’ve seen quite a few Marylanders on the board, but no one really from the lonely Eastern Shore where I am.

I have a paint gelding for sale, and as soon as he goes, I will be a horseless rider!

Extensive background in western & english as well as starting greenies.

I am 20 minutes from AUBURN UNIVERSITY (Alabama) and have a few nice young OTTBs if anyone wants to help keep them legged up!

A somewhat riderless horse, KY

Hi,

I have a 9yo mare that isn’t getting enough mileage due to my career commitments. I’m able to work her 2-3 times a week, but she needs more than that.

She’s done training level dressage and BN eventing, she’s sane but sensitive. She needs a patient, quiet rider who doesn’t lose his/her cool. Not the best fit for beginning or timid riders.

She is located in Midway, KY.

Shoot me a PM if you’re interested. Thanks!

Horseless rider in central CT

Horseless rider in central CT. I’ve been riding sporadically for 15-ish years - weekly lessons some times, exercising foxhunters in the summer some times, riding IHSA in college, basically riding whatever I could get. I’m not the world’s prettiest show rider, but I’m working on it! I’m currently taking lessons with a good trainer and am trying to get back into shape after a few years off.

I’d love some more saddle time - a horse that needs exercise, part lease, something. I’m low on cash but am very motivated!

I’m in Hartford County. If it were to be a regular deal, I would be hesitant to commit to anything more than a half hour-ish away, just as fair warning.

Chicago/Milwaukee accesible

I have several nice horses, and for the right person, there is a great riding opportunity. The rider would need to contribute to the horse’s keep, possibly help with farm stuff - fairly light duty, clean tack, help place get organized better. I do go to shows, clinics, trail rides and generally welcome those involved in our farm to come along.

We all work very hard to afford our nice horses here, so please come ready to enjoy and appreciate the nice, friendly, trained animals and all the hard work it takes to maintain and run a farm. As another poster eloquently put:"
What I am not interested in is the person who wants the free pony-ride 2x a week, wants to be the princess who is handed a tacked up horse, doesn’t clean up after herself or the horse, and whines that it is a 45 minute drive from her slice of suburbia."

We have horses from intermediate rider friendly hack around/trail horse to Prix.StG schoolmaster. Anyone interested will be thoroughly “vetted” and matched up with the most appropriate mount. Safety, honesty are not negotiable! Horses are in dressage training, some are also great on trails.

Please pm me if you are interested:winkgrin:

mzm - I sent you a private message

Horseless rider in Southern NY!

I’m a 16 year old hunter rider, looking for a horse to free lease. Hunter/eq horse preferred. Age, breed, and gender to not matter (no stallions, though!). I am rather tall (6’1"), so I would prefer a horse that is 16.3hh+, but can go shorter depending on the horse’s conformation.

I’d also be willing to take a green (but SANE) horse and put some work on it/show it.

Thanks in advance!

Riderless Horse in Leesburg, VA

I have a 7 year old gelding who needs a rider. He’s got a friendly personality and is a very athletic jumper and has been shown dressage. Needs a skilled rider, not a steady-eddy lesson type horse. Great trails, opportunity to attend competitions, etc. PM me for details.

Horseless in NE CT, near rte 84

Hi, I’ve ridden for around 10 years now.I’ve worked in a barn as assistant manager for 6 of those. Recently, I’ve changed jobs (better situation) and have left the barn behind. I love to ride, and haven’t really had much of a chance to ride in a while. I rode huntseat eq in college (IHSA), and have ridden a tad bit of western, mostly on trails. I do have my own saddles (english a/p, western trail). I consider myself an intermediate rider. (I haven’t had lessons in probably 4 years). I have also ridden some dressage, up to around First level, I believe. Please pm me if you have anything that needs to be exercised, ridden, etc. I don’t have much money, so I can’t really pay for a lease or lessons, but am willing to help around barn, within reason.

In North GA -tiny morgan or Perch

My son’s 14.1 morgan could sure use a rider. She is sweet but needs a person who is beyond beginner (she is four years old). She has the foundations of dressage training (training level to one), is lovely and a pleasure to ride. He has outgrown her in height and she really loves attention. Must be under 135 pounds. Anyone? She is seriously a lot of fun.

I also have a young Perch or two that need miles (figuratively, not literally) and attention. These are really nice horses, for the big horse lover. I am willing to spend time helping you get up to speed, if you have the basics down.

We have nineteen acres to ride on, an open ring (100x200, split with dressage letters) and our horses are well kept. It anyone near Jasper is looking for a place to hang with some horses, do a little (or lot) or riding, this would be a great place.

We live in Jasper, GA but really we are closer to Canton/Ball Ground/Waleska and we are in Cherokee county.
