riderless horses and horseless riders?

This is a long shot but here I go…

I am in Bancroft, Ontario and looking to ride for leisure with someone. I don’t have the property to have a big horse so only have a mini and the urge to ride is overwhelming.
I do have some on the ground fear issues due to bad experiences and would need an understanding riding partner. I have been riding for over 25 years english and western. Took lessons most of my life. Have been a trail guide and hotwalker at the track (which is where one of the bad incidents that sparked the fear on the ground happened)
I CAN ride…just need a steady, sane mount.
Must be close to Bancroft.

Still horseless in North Bay

Just wondering if there is a riderless horse in the North Bay, ON area. I am out here until May 09 and am very eager to ride while I’m here. I have been riding (English-- dressage, H/J, eventing) since I was a kid, however have been on a bit of a hiatus since I moved away to university. So if anyone has a horse that needs exercising or even just hacking out, let me know.

Cheers

partially riderless horse near ocala, fl

Hi,

I have a wonderful 7 year old tb/trakehner mare who needs to be ridden more. I have a pretty busy school and work schedule, and can’t get out to the barn enough. I ride her 3 times a week, but she is a little out of shape and could use a few extra days of work each week.

She has competed to novice and schooled training, but not in a while. Is a wonderful jumper and is super fun. She can be slightly mareish sometimes, though is definitely not dangerous.

Needs more flatwork, definitely, but you could also jump her. Would like at least an intermediate rider. I’m not looking for free training or anything, but would like a competent rider. Mostly, I would just like her to get a bit more exercise.

You can see lots of pictures of her here (some recent, some older)

Riderless Horse, Austin, TX

Morgan gelding, needs somebody to loooove him. I’m willing to let him go to very special person Only in/near central Texas. For lease only, and of course will be very very affordable  to right home.
He’s a 14 yr old Morgan, 2nd level trained in Dressage, perfect manners and well trained. But here’s the kicker: I really want him to find a casual, trail riding home. I think he misses it, and I just don’t have the time!!
He’s surefooted and brave, great on trails, not spooky at all, but can be nervous and very forward–so needs a somewhat experienced rider.
Probably not kid safe, but definitely ok for teen w/ experience.
He could probably be conditioned for endurance; I just think he does not want to be an arena horse anymore! (read in there: no jumping.)
He’s my dependable little buddy, and needs someone to spend more time with him. And he’s pretty, too

Semi-horseless rider in Alpahretta, Ga

I am looking for a partial on farm lease for a dressage horse trained through at least 2nd level. I have a young gelding who is currently sidelined (again) with injuries, and I would like to get some experience taking lessons with a horse who is farther along than he is so I can work on my position for a change!

I am willing split expenses to have riding privileges, and would also be working with a trainer (approval OK!). Would prefer to stay in the Alpharetta, Milton, Woodstock, south Canton area.

Please feel free to PM me!

Horse looking for rider in Holliston, MA

Hi friends. I am having some extensive “body work” done this winter: I’m having one hip replaced in the beginning of November and the other one replaced mid-December. The instructor at my barn can probably use my mare in one or two lessons per week, but at this point that’s pretty much all. Zippy is a 21-year-old Tbred, and her name is apt. She has more zip than most of the other horses at the barn, and did 50 miles of Vermont mountain trails last Memorial Day weekend. I hunted her last season and hope to get to a few hunts in October, plus take her up to Vermont again for a weekend. But I hate to see her on the shelf for nearly five months. She is 21, and she does much better with consistent, regular work. I haven’t competed her in several years, but she knows her stuff and is a lot of fun to ride on the flat (she’s a lot of fun to jump, too, but that’s another story). She is NOT a beginner horse–she evented to prelim level and she can be a little hot. She’s the boss mare of the barn. But she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, and she’s very personable.

My barn has a decent indoor and 1200 acres of trails. We’re in Holliston, Mass. Anyway, I’m pondering what to do about this upcoming layoff. Is anyone interested in having something fun to ride over the winter?

I’ve had Zips for 11 years and she is my heart, and I want to do what’s best for her. I’ve thought of doing some clicker training with her when my healing will allow it, but I’m concerned about this long layoff.

You can PM me if you want! Thanks.

Horseless Rider Northern California

So here’s my situation…28 years old, have over 15 years experience riding all different breeds, but have mostly concentrated on jumpers and dressage. When I wasn’t horseless, I schooled through the 3’9" jumpers (showing 3’ divisions) and schooled lower level dressage. I have soft quiet hands, a good seat and have placed well in hunter eq. classes in the past (as well as scoring well on the rider position portion of dressage tests).
I am horseless currently mostly due to the economy (which will also prevent me from paying for a traditional lease arrangement). I’d love to be able to ride a couple of days a week (dressage or hunters, but have concentrated on dressage the past few years…so that would be my ideal), even if it’s just trail riding with someone else. I’m happy to bring along young horses, but prefer not to work with something super hot or really spooky.
I’m happy to detail my riding experience for anyone interested…and I’m open to making a riding situation work for all involved  I live about 20 minutes northeast of Sacramento, and would like to stay as close to home as possible (what with gas prices and all).
Thanks!

Exercise Rider Looking for Opportunities Near Boulder, CO

Hi,

I just moved to Boulder, CO and have a lot to offer in the way of riding experience. I am about a 3rd level dressage rider who has shown through Training Level eventing. I have 20 year experience as horse owner, barn manager (30+ horses), trail guide, and competitor in dressage and eventing. I would love to find someone with nice horses who could use someone with my skills. I don’t charge b/c I ride for the love of riding, but of course donations are welcome  I have a great resume available upon request along with references. Thanks!

Riderless horse(s) near Wellington,FL

I would really love to share my horses with someone as I have so little time right now. Isn’t there anyone nearby who would like some nice (but currently out-of-work) warmbloods to ride?

My friends and I, (All have been riding for many years now in New York) just for fun were looking for some catchrides. One of us currently shows in the junior hunters and big eq, anothershows in the small green pony hunters, small pony hunters, large pony hunters, and the other one shows in the children’s hunter horses, big eq, and sometimes the pony hunters. We were interested if anyone was in need of pony or horse riders.

My bestest friend ever, who lives in Boston, MA, recently lost her ride and is looking for a new one (ok, lost is probably the wrong word, the owners found another home for her).

She has experience with greenies (has previously fostered for CANTER new-england) and is looking for something she can ride a few days a week and perhaps take to a clinic or something here and there. She is looking for a horse who can do some jumping as well as the odd relaxing trail ride.

If you have something that needs a little extra work or know of something, feel free to pass it along so I can play matchmaker!

Riderless Horse in NOVA

I guess I’ll try this again.

Doesn’t anyone want to ride a push-button, cute, sweet and willing to save-your-butt-even-if-you-suck, horse for free? PLEASE?

I have a 15.2, 13 year old TB/QH mare who is WAY too fat from not being ridden enough. And to add insult to injury (literally) I had a bad fall over fences recently (she tried to save my butt, but gravity won :frowning: ) and cannot ride for a while. I am very bummed.

She is fun to ride, has great manners, is a packer over fences and lives at a beautiful facility in Purcellville/Lovettsville which has an indoor and outdoor rings.

Your trainer is welcome or you can use mine. Or you can just hack her around and feed her carrots :). As long as she gets more work, I’m not picky.

So if you are interested in a cute gray mare that will win your heart and is SO much fun to ride please PM me ASAP.

TIA!

Desperate to ride! Any riderless horses around Philadelphia?

I’m 28 years old, living in Philadelphia, have been riding hunter/jumpers for 20 years, showed tons as a junior, have done stints teaching lessons over the years. I haven’t been able to ride very consistently for the past few years because of, sadly, reality setting in - no time! no money! I was leasing a wonderful horse but had to give up the lease at the end of the summer due to inability to keep up the financial commitment. I work full-time and am a part-time grad student as well so my time is limited, but I am going CRAZY not riding so if anyone can help please let me know!
