riderless horses and horseless riders?

Horseless Rider-Bozeman, Montana

Hi,
I’m new to Bozeman, Montana, hoping to get into MSU this spring for the equine option in their animal science program, and would really like to get involved in the horse world here.

Been riding since I was nine (I’ll be twenty one this Jan.), did jumpers til I was thirteen or so, then started eventing and have done that (Shown recognized training level, shown unrecognized prelim/training division (home division for people considering moving up a level)) until this past year.
Team penned, done some cow work, taken a few cutting lessons on schoolies, Rocky Mountain trails (Teton National Park, Gros Ventre Wilderness), etc. dallied pack horses, worked as a wrangler for a guest ranch in Wyoming May-September. So, fair amount of western experience now! (Condensed by spending hours in the saddle, day after day. lol)

Can provide some references if needed for character/riding ability, but I think this is a pretty laid back thread, right?

Anyway, really just want to get involved with the horse scene here so I don’t go crazy before spring term begins! Would like to continue whatever relationships/situations begun through college, not just til spring.

Even just a dinner with horse people, watching a clinic, anything horsey! lol

Email: perugino22@gmail.com or PM me. Belgrade, Manhattan, Four Corners pretty flexible right now
Thanks!!!

Horseless Rider in Matthews, NC

Lifetime rider in Matthews, NC has Friday mornings free and no one to ride!

My strengths are groundwork with yearlings, flatwork, roundpen work, trail riding, teaching general manners, etc. But I’m happy just to help exercise!

I spent 15 years showing Quarter Horses. In college I was a trail guide at Blowing Rock Stables. My family’s farm is at the beach, so I’m horseless in Matthews!

PM me and let’s chat!

Rider in Memphis, TN needs event horse

19 year old experienced rider looking for a horse to event at least novice and hopefully training. Horses are kept at our home if you are looking for a lease situation. Excellent barn with mats, fans, fly spray system, hot water, etc. We are happy to supply references. Turn out daily on grass. Prefer a gelding as the other two horses are geldings. We are happy to travel to your barn to ride for the right horse. Maybe asking for so much is pie in the sky, but there has to be pie somewhere! Thanks.

Does anyone use a DR Power Grader for their arena?

I’m looking at purchasing a DR Power Grader to drag my sand arena. I was hoping to get some feedback before buying. Any experiences?

1 Nokota near Fair Hill, MD

I have 3 Nokota horses, 2 have riders, 1 is still green and has been a pasture potato for a couple years but had been started and has been ridden cross country at FH by his trainer when he first arrived in the area. I’m very near Fair Hill but in PA, not MD.

You can email me at Barnmom45@aol.com if interested. These are very sensitive horses and require a respectful rider and handler and they choose their people, we have no choice in the matter. If someone experienced and patient wants to meet him and see if they are the chosen one please send me an email.

Horseless in Alexandria, VA (along Potomac)

I’m currently seperated from my horses for my semester-long internship and I’m going through withdrawal symptoms now. Reasonable driving distances please (is under an hour in DC area traffic reasonable?).

I have 15 yrs experience, on NCAA team, a helmet, breeches and boots (and hunting clothes with the hope that I’ll hunt sometime while I’m here). Quiet but confident rider, not afraid of high jumps (have gone up to 5’), schooled dressage tests up to level 2 (horse’s limit). I’ve brought along OTTBs to new careers and have taken a variety of horses and ponies on their first hunts (first and second field on sometimes extreme terrain) and will continue to do so when my internship ends. I don’t mind extremely hot horses, nor do I mind the easy going schoolmasters.

I can ride most weekday evenings and weekends as long as I don’t run out of gas money. I just hope I don’t embarass myself with being out of practice since I haven’t ridden in over a month now

PM me if you have a ride for me or any other questions!

Riderless Horse - NoVA

I have a 7 year old gelding who needs a rider. He’s got a friendly personality and is a very athletic jumper and has been shown dressage. Needs a skilled rider, not a steady-eddy lesson type horse. Great trails, opportunity to attend competitions, etc. Near Dulles/Ashbrun. PM me for details.

Riderless horse - 30 mi S of Lexington, KY

I’ve got a nice Tb gelding who needs to be ridden in Harrodsburg, KY. Can ride in the 15 acre pasture or the new outdoor arena until the rains come. He is great on trails. If you are a 2nd level+ dressage rider I have a lovely mare you can ride also. She is in training, but I can’t ride her as often as she needs.

May consider an off-farm lease for the TB gelding for the proper situation.

Horseless Rider in DuPont, WA

Not quite horseless, but my only riding my greenie and my show horse’s retirement has affected my riding and I’d love to just get more saddle time. I’m more of h/j rider but would love some dressage saddle time as well. Professional adult- I’m a massage therapist so my schedule is flexible. Willing to go North or South.

Horseless in Baltimore and NE CT

Hi, I’d just like to put my name in that if anyone has a horse nearby baltimore city (between now and may) or northeast Connecticut in the summer, I’d love to have a ride! I ride hunter/jumper and wouldn’t mind a horse that I could practice a few jumps on if possible. So anyone whose horse needs a little love, I’m available!!

part time work in Lexington, Kentucky

I am looking for part-time barn work as well as riding after my regular job. I can work a few hours in the evening and would like to ride as well. I need some extra cash in my pocket and can be flexible with my hours.

If you are interested please let me know!

Thank you,
Horseless in KY

horseless rider in philly

Hey everyone!! …i’ve been lost ever since I gave up my horses and came back to school…I dont have much free time, and cant really afford lessons/board right now, but would love to find a horse to ride in the area. Im 24 and have been riding since age 3…most of my experience has been hunter/jumper and dressage in recent years…will pretty much ride anything…but def have a soft spot for OTTBs…and love projects…I live in northeast philly and go to Chestnut Hill College…anyone have a horse near me??

Braver rider for trails in NJ wanted!

I now have my two lovely horses are one farm. The younger of the two (16 or 17) is recovering from a back injury but ready to go into walk and trail work- except I am scared of him on the trails. He gets hot, I get nervous and I get off. He’s never really been out on trails much, but seems keen and interested, and likes his buddy (my solid steady-eddie older (26 - 27) horse). So if there is anyone brave out there who wants to go for a once or twice a week trail ride (Sundays at 3pm, and possibly wednesdays as well) on a well meaning but clueless TB with me along for company, let me know! Otherwise I’ll keep ponying him off the older horse in the big open fields.

Horseless rider in Orlando, FL

Well, I have a horse, but she is being leased and (trying) to get her sold.

27 year old law school grad in Orlando, 32812. Jumper rider with years of “A” show experience at 3’9", schooled up to 4’6". Good with hot TB’s and difficult types, but NOT looking for a dangerous ride. Good seat, soft hands, quiet leg. I haven’t ridden regularly in a few months but it doesn’t take me long to come back.

Does your jumper or hunter need a rider? My saddle and I are waiting

Horseless in Northeast PA

Hello! I’m looking to catch some rides in the Northeastern PA area. I haven’t ridden in a while and I’m miserable. :frowning: I’m willing to travel to ride, school, hack whatever you have. Here’s a but of info about me:

I’m located in Northeastern PA (About an hour and a half from Philly) and looking to catch some rides. 22 years old, have been riding since I was 4, consistantly since I was 8. I’ve got lots of experience with green beans, OTTB’s and “special needs” projects. Soft hands and a balenced seat, very forgiving and kind. I’ve done eventing/dressage and hunters so I am very flexible in the way that I ride. Not looking to make money, I’m just really jonesing for some saddle time. Several people on here can vouch from me. I’m about 5’7 and 150lbs, so I fit better on 16.2+ but have been riding large ponies as well, I’m not picky! Thanks guys…my family and friends thank you as well, I’m cranky without rides! I’m willing to ride anything and everything at this point.

Feel free to email me at shattereddaydreams@yahoo.com

LMAO its sooo sad to see that there are so many of us sooo close by, and all with the same problem…see what college and growing up does to horse ppl!!! There should be some sort of program to help keep riders on horses while they work their butts through school!! LOL But deep sigh unfortunately we’ll just have to keep on networking and riding everyone’s “greenie beanies” and OTTBs!! (not that this is altogether horrible or anything…I LUV those greenie beanies!!)

Horseless rider in Rochester, NY- I need a confidence boosting buddy.

Anyone have a packer-‘ish’ kid that just needs some work? I’ve been riding for 20 years, but i’m not nearly as good as that would imply- i’ve had some confidence busters in the last few years. I would love to rebuild my confidence on a good boy/girl with a flighty streak- trail or ring work. I’m looking for a ride for mostly flat work. I’ll gladly pay for lessons/part lease under the right circumstances. Dressage/ Eventing, willing to travel.

Horse with Busy Mommy Needs Rides

I have a horse in Boyertown/Pottstown and I am looking ideally for someone to half lease him. He needs to stay on farm. He’s young and impressionable and not for a beginner. He needs more rides/week than I have time. He’s a 16.2 6 yo WB/TB cross. Any interested please PM me.

horseless rider in CO

Hi there-
I’m a young rider in a very difficult situation. I’m looking for a horse to compete at NAYRC this year (it’s my last year) and I’ve had two horses go lame in the past two years. Because I still own one of the horses, my parents can’t afford to buy me another horse. Does anyone know of a PSG able dressage horse for lease? Thanks so much!

Appendix mare in Lakeland, FL, sadly riderless :frowning:

I have a 16-yo Appendix mare that I just do not have the energy to ride right now. She foaled about 6 months ago and needs to get back into shape. She is sound and healthy, just not very fit.

I do dressage with her, and she is wonderful to hack. She was between first and second level when I had to stop riding her due to my own health, and now she lacks the fitness to be solid at first again. She can be a difficult horse to ride well, but a soft and confident intermediate rider would be fine just to ride her around. I have done some lower-level jumping with her, but she is a bit older and I do not want her jumped too often anymore. She is an absolute angel on the ground.

I have never done this before, and since this mare can be a touch difficult I will be picky about who rides her. For the right rider though she is just a blast. She is perfectly happy as a pasture potato, but I firmly believe that some exercize really helps keep them young.

My farm is about 25 minutes from Brandon, just south of Lakeland, FL. I am very close to Plant City. PM me if there are any horseless riders who might be interested.
