riderless horses and horseless riders?

Horseless Rider in Hartford, CT

Would like to find a barn within half-hour driving distance from Hartford, CT, where I can offer my help as exercise rider once or twice a week. I am a freelancer and my schedule is flexible so I can certainly come during the week and work daylight hours during fall and winter.
I grew up in Germany and am most familiar with “classical” dressage but I never had formal training or competed so I have no idea what my level is. If that matters to you, I’ll come and take a test  Most importantly though, I love horses (especially large Warmbloods…) and know my way around a barn, i.e. can lend you a hand there as well.

Riderless horse in Pilot Point TX

Bradley is a 15.1 red dun paint horse. He goes english and western and down the trail. He has had some dressage training and is just back from a western trainer from 60 days of training. I cannot get out to ride during the week. I am looking for a weekday rider. Bradley is a bit lazy but not for a beginner. He knows his leads and has a great stop. E-mail me at havingfun_2000_us@yahoo.com. Happy trails!

Partially Riderless Paint Gelding - Fort Valley, Virginia

Pete is over 1200lbs, 15.3 to 16Hs, and will offer his tack to anyone who would like to exercise him for me during the week, either in the arena (indoor or outdoor) and around the pasture and across the bridge and stream.

He’s very forward moving, NOT for the faint of heart and will challenge you the first chance he gets. He does well in round pen and is most comfortable in the arena.

He is NOT yet trail sound. He has no problem rearing, but his bucks aren’t all that and generally he does that in the round pen when asked to canter(no rider).

He can be spooky out in unfamiliar terrority as well. He’s located at Secret Passage Ranch (link located in my signature) and I’d be happy to meet you any weekend you want to make the introductions.

Riderless horse

I can only ride a few times a week. I need someone to ride him the other days. No charge but you would have to take lessons or do clinics. You would be welcome to show as well.

He is a 10 year old QH Gelding. Great personality. Just started in Dressage but quick learner.

Nice video of Travis. The CAT really cracked me up though! Does he ever get run over?

Riderless horse in Marriottsville, MD

I had to retire my hunter (16hh QHx gelding) a few months ago due to a DDFT injury that never quite healed enough for jumping. He’s been turned out, and is definitely sound enough for a little light work. Would love to find someone who wanted to wander around our farm a few days a week on him.

He is NOT quiet enough for a complete beginner, but as long as you’ve got a little bit of balance he’s happy to take you around. Farm is on state preserve - we lease 300 acres of it, and
there’s about 1100 total to ride on.

just another reminder that i am a horseless rider in north/central NJ looking for something to sit on! experience in hunters/eq/dressage, and small enough to ride med & large ponies. recent college grad and too poor to have my own horse!

thanks!

Northern Virginia

I had a lot of luck finding the most wondeful person here several years ago before she went to college so I thought I’d try again.

I have a 16h warmblood cross gelding that I’m looking for someone who wants to trail ride/parctice flatwork/dressage. He’s easy to ride but takes a lot of leg. Sometimes his ground manners are a little lacking, but he’s basically a fun fellow to be around if you aren’t pulling his mane or clipping his ears.

I also have a 16.3 hand TB cross mare that I’m looking for someone to ride until I breed her in the spring. She’s a lot of fun, loves to hack out, likes to jump…she is a “moody mare” but once you get the hang of her likes and dislikes, most everyone loves riding her. Possibility to horse show if interested.

16h 16 yr old TB for lease in Clarence, NY

Wanting to 1/2 lease (preferably) black TB gelding, knows Parelli level one and beginning two, suitable for intermediate rider. Suitable for flat work and trail (has never been jumped). Would like someone who will share expenses. Details can be worked out if interested. Nice, pretty, solid gelding with outstanding ground/barn manners. Has never been sick or lame in the several years that I have owned him. Is current on all vet/farrier work.

PM me if interested.

We have a 15.3, 10 yo TB mare, unraced, that is riderless in Greenville, DE. She’s a great pre-childrens/pre-adult hunter horse for someone who is a little brave. She likes trail rides, hacking out, etc. And she is sad and lonely because her rider gave her up for a video game. :frowning:

PM if interested.

I can relate to this post. :frowning: Not far from you either in south east Chester County, PA close to Fair Hill, MD. My son gave up riding his horse for computers and games. His horse did become lonely and when on the rare occasion he was honored with a visit he fawned all over him. The last time he saw my son was on his 35th birthday over a year before he passed away. This horse just loved kids for some reason.

I hope you find the perfect kid for this mare, I know they are out there. Can she be relocated? There may be kids in Pony Club that would appreciate her. They love the TBs. I’ll ask around but I think the families I know would be closer to me. You should call Brandywine Hounds PC, they are closer to you. Also you might try Jill at Rye Fox on Rt. 926 off of Rt. 41 next to the lovely landfill. Or maybe if you want to stay close Laurie at Vic Meade.

In MA on quiet, private farm. Handsome Shire, schooled in dressage but has been living the good life for the past year just hanging out with his buddies. Human equivalent = couch potato, clicker and a can of beer in front of the football game.
But he’s a great horse with a big heart who could use some work. PM if interested.

I have a lovely 5 yr. old Hanoverian mare 16.1 who just spent 2.5 months in professional training this summer doing flatwork and small logs. She needs someone 2-3 days p/w to hack out and work on dressage. Very nice mover, willing, brave and pretty bombproof. Would love an experienced rider in dressage/eventing.
