riderless horses and horseless riders?

Thank you so much! I will check them out.

My pleasure! I hope you can work something out with him. You can tell him Sue from PA, a Nokota owner told you about him. I met him once in ND at the Nokota Horse Conservancy annual meeting.

one more desperate, shameless bump… the horse withdrawal may cause me to fling myself out of an upper story window…

unfortunately dirt-poor, yet competent h/j and low-level dressage rider in north/central jersey looking for something to ride. little enough to do large & med ponies, but will climb aboard anything. have ridden the ponies, green OTTB’s, giant warmbloods, and everything in between. cranky mares and tantrum-throwing ponies are a plus. will tune-up lesson horses, put pasture puffs back in action, lend a hand with your greenie… really whatever. i’m not particular. also willing to commit to a super-reasonable 1/2 or 1/4 lease. or lessons that don’t cost me my firstborn.

THANKS!!

You MUST  move to south east Chester County, PA so you can ride my Nokota gelding! Come NOW.

oh how i wish that was possible, lol!! but i am stuck here for a while, so i’m trying to frantically arrange some sort of half lease/lesson/horse sharing/i will ride your crazy animal for free scheme so i can get back into riding!

but if i’m in the area i’ll look you up!

Please do look me up, my Nokota may be a wild horse but he’s not a wild ride. He’s sensible like most Nokota horses (not all of course). I have 3 of them and 2 are being ridden, similar situation and by very nice ladies who have a ball on them. They think they are great horses, fun but not crazy. But they are not beginner horses, and I’ll be a beginner the rest of my life so I love them but have no riding skills. So I let other people ride my babies. They help me around the barn, come out and feed and are just good friends to the horses and me. I would rather let someone nice ride them for free than to have someone pay me and not treat them right. I’ve had all of my horses get professional training, so one of them might be green, they have all been ridden and enjoy human companionship and a fun ride.

Riderless horse(s) Bucks County, PA

I am looking for someone to share with me. I have TB gelding dressage/event horse. He is boarded at a super facility with an indoor. I just don’t ride as much in the winter and especially now since I am trying to bring along a 4 yo filly too. Gelding is large (16.2) warmblood type. Not for the faint of heart. He can have a big spook and he just generally has big gaits. (his canter is amazing! not that I am at all biased) I am about 20 minutes from Del Val college. And about 20 minutes from the Bucks County Horse Park - would love to have someone to ride with so I could take both my horses up there together. I used to try to half lease but I would love it if someone could at least just help clean my tack and stuff like that. Maybe you could ride the filly too.

Anyone around looking for some extra riding? Pm me and I’ll send my info. If you are interested and want to wait til after the holidays, that works too.

17 hand 6 yr old appendix mare for 1/2 or 1/4 lease. trainers on premisses if you desire lesson. 1 hunter/jumper trainer 1 dressage trainer. mare loves to jump, super brave, plus does training level dressae…she is fancy and fun but is a mare so she has an opinion. likes soft hands. doesn’t rear, buck, rarely spooks.

Not that it’s my biz but if I were you I’d make sure they got lesson at least on occasion for the sake of your horse. Just in case. I’m a
pessimist.

But of all the people that have ever ridden my horses there was only a couple people who didn’t want to pay for lessons and they were problems for my horse. The first person complained about the money and had really bad hands, banged on his mouth, the other lacked confidence and thought I should be paying her but she wasn’t that good of a rider. The good riders always seem to want to learn more and are prepared to pay for good instruction.

Riderless horse in Brenham, TX

I have a 13-yr-old, 15.3hh Oldenburg/TB cross mare that really needs a job. I never seem to find time to ride her. She is trained thru 2nd/3rd level dressage but is woefully out of shape. Will have to start back at training/first level until she builds some muscle. Needs a quiet rider as she thinks every little movement is an aid. She is pretty uncomplicated, however.

I have an outdoor arena to ride in and 30 or so acres to trail ride on.

Wow, what a great offer. I have a small that is almost ready! I will make the same offer(you really do have good ideas Wynn!) Now that you have one pony qualified for the pony finals, would be really sweet to have another!! My pony isn’t as far along, so rider must be willing to do some local stuff and come and hack and school.

A lovely 22 yr tb gelding located in Delaware that would love to find a rider. Has evented through training level, dressage through 3rd, 3’6" jumpers and so much more. Very quiet and would be suitable for beginner riders.

Also, have several others would would love some exercise. Option to show and much more depending on compatablity.

any horses in the Ocala/inverness/williston area???

I am looking to start getting back in shape. My mare is on a breeding lease for a while longer but I need to start riding again. I am not picky about breed or even if it is just trail riding. Please PM me:D

horseless in GA

I am horseless in GA right in downtown atlanta but I will drive around near the area.

Contact Chocomare, she’s is GA and has a kind heart. I just don’t know where in GA. Good luck!

Sure, come on out. Granted, I’m in Paulding County…kind of a drive from downtown, but if you’re horsey desperate enough, you’re welcome to come. Only have one horse right now that’s not spoken for: My 17.3 Percheron, Tank. She’s been off for almost a year recovering from hoof issues. She’s comfy to ride but needs work. If you want a project, come on out and visit.

riderless horses/Harrisburg, Pa

I’m thrilled to see this thread is still around – I had great luck with it before – !!!

I have several horses I use for lessons, trail rides, and who do pony work at the track available for riders. Opportunity to help at the track.

All totally broke, mannerly, eng/west/jump. Some retrained tb's for

show/event.

Several options: Full/Partial-board/free in exchanage/but expected to do own horse care. Willing to train but must have 'some' experience.

     Located just outside Harrisburg, Pa.

Horseless rider! I live in the Boston area (west 'burbs within 95 loop, will drive, preferably west or north but I’ll take what I can get!) Here’s the deal–I haven’t ridden in a few years–between moving east for culinary school and various and sundry jobs, plus my horse having died just after I left (complications from EPM) it’s been about three years. Prior experience: rode from ages 6-27, started on backyard greenie ponies (baling twine and halter for a bridle and everything), a few years of lessons at an Arab barn (western and basic English), 15 years with an OTTB doing hunter and training-level dressage, hacking on my best friend’s insanely patient AQHA barrel horses, did IHSA in college at a very low level (flatwork only, did jump a bomb-proof 18-year-old on lessons), and hacked out in PE class on a cranky trail bran horse.

What I’m looking for if possible–a packer or two. Western, English, don’t care (I wear a helmet to ride no matter what.) It’s been a while, I’d rather get some confidence back (I had a couple nasty falls jumping that OTTB and some spastic draw) and I’d just like a horse who’d like some exercise, ring or trails, maybe someone with a couple horses who wants a riding buddy. My horse was too unsteady the last year of his life to ride, and the college riding was…just not fun at all. I’m 5’4" and weigh about 140lbs, give or take 2 lbs depending on the time of month ;), fit, would like some barn work, too, though because I work three jobs that couldn’t be a regular thing. (Stall-cleaning, feeding, etc.)

And if you’re a farrier or trim your own and wouldn’t mind showing a curious student the ropes, that would be great! (I’ll post separately in the Horse Care forum–I DON’T want to learn shoeing or anything, just to understand the details of how to look at, trim, and care for sound and unsound feet from someone who knows their stuff.) Just…please no religious arguments re barefoot vs. shod! That thread kind of scared me.
