riderless horses and horseless riders?

Horseless Rider in Alabama

Encouraged to post by this thread …

I would love to be able to visit/ride/groom/hang out with a bombproof horse who lives around Shelby/Jefferson/nearby counties.

I have ridden western and English; am past hard and fast work but can do schooling in an arena or be a riding buddy if one is wanted.

Riderless Horse in DC Area (Upper Marlboro, MD)

  1. 16.3 H, 17 Year Old TB Gelding needs a rider. His owner lives an hour away and has a full time job and new baby. He won the IHF 4 y/o stakes final at Capital Challange in his day. Still could do some local showing, just really needs to be worked. Possible lease situation to the right person.

  2. I own a possible second horse that I could use some help getting fit, a 19 y/o former upper level event horse and I would like to compete him in the spring. I can only ride him 3 days per week and he needs more. He would require an advanced rider as he is still quite high strung. Need someone knowledgeable about doing trot sets and conditioning work.

Riderless horses, Yelm, WA

Two to choose from:
Lucy: black shire cross mare, green.
Deacon: bay morgan gelding, adorable.
I am looking for a riding buddy. Trails, foxhunts, etc…

bumping myself  horseless rider!

One more attempt at bumping my sad, horseless self!

I’ve been riding for around seven years, doing h/j and some xc for fun, and I can jump a 2’6 - 2’9 course comfortably. I rode with Centenary College’s IHSA team for a year before I unfortunately had to transfer to community college.
I have ridden everything from a tiny shetland mare to a 4 year old OTTB, though I have had so much time off I need to get back in shape before attempting that again!

I’m pretty low on funds at the moment, due to my being a college student… but I am up for a reasonable 1/2 lease or anything you can offer me  not being able to ride is torture! Guess I should mention that I’m in Northwest NJ!

Thanks!

I am posting again for a friend in Texas, She has been left a nice mare from a border that just wanted her gone. She is free to a good home I understand. She is a true black about 7 years old maybe 15 hands. Fine build jumps, w/t/c/ and does flying changes. Not a beginner horse. Has trust issues and will test…has also ridden in a foeld and jumped out there also…She supposedly is a nice mover and very fancy…
Anyone?

Looking for an event horse to lease in NoVA, one that will be able to do BN/N in the spring

I think when we post we should be very specific about our locations in order to find a good match as well as describing our horse’s or rider’s level. My horses are very close to Fair Hill, MD just over the PA state line, 2 are ridden, 1 needs a rider and has been trained but has been parked for a few years and is also still green, needing a sensitive and experienced handler. He’s about 14.3 H approx., almost black. All 3 of my horses are Nokota horses.

Most COTHers seem to be very knowledgeable so I’m sure we can get this done and find a match if we keep this thread active. I met my current riders through this thread or the previous one.

Also if you have a horse to give away or are offering a free lease you might want to post in the Giveaways section, it’s strictly freebies but this is too. No money or bartering as far as I understand.

Happy Hunting! and… Merry Christmas to all!

rideforthelaurels16 - I sent you a PM

adult looking for hunter lease chicago

chicago area adult rider looking for a “been there done that” packer type for lower level A shows- 2’6-3"0. Wonderful show home with grass turnout and training will be provided, minor maintence o.k. easy prep and RELIABLE! Lease to buy option would be considered for perfect match. PM for more info …needs to be at least 16 hands/auto changes

WOW! You sure want a lot for a freebie. I love the term “Must be” LOL, guess you may not understand this is a non commercial thread, people here are doing favors for each other. Those of us with horses allowing people without horses to ride them and share them.

You also want not only a packer type but for A shows. Please take a look at the other posts. People in this thread can’t offer horses to sell, or charge to lease, that would be in the paid section of ads, this is a no ad thread only, just people trying to be nice to each other.

I think perhaps you misunderstand the purpose and what’s allowed in this thread.

Horseless rider in Central CT

(I haven’t posted on this thread in a while so I thought I’d try again :))
Horseless recent college grad looking for some riding time within 30 minutes of New Britain or Hartford CT. I competed IHSA for 4 years in school and before that was taking weekly lessons for 8+ years. I haven’t been able to ride since April though and it’s driving me crazy…I would love to be able to do some barn work in exchange for a ride or two; unfortunately I can’t afford regular lessons/leasing right now. Please PM if you know of anyone who can help me out

Susan P, was that necessary!? I’m not ridingmom3, but this is an economy like no other and she might very well luck out and find such a horse for free lease (expenses only). Yes, a few years ago it would have been an outlandish request, but I know folks who’ve been GIVEN nicer horses than that for FREE in these awful times, especially in the Midwest. It never hurts to ask.
