riderless horses and horseless riders?

Horseless in Southern New Hampshire

Horseless rider moving from MA to Southern NH in June. I’m just looking for some horse time, even if it’s just grooming, hand grazing, and feeding carrots once a week!

I recently lost my long-term lease on a horse that I really grew attached to, so I’m looking for a good soul that likes attention (even if s/he doesn’t admit it at first) and needs a “person”. I also love to ride in the winter as well, so I’m not just a fairweather friend!

Riding-wise, I’m capable to w/t/c on the flat and would like to hack around outside the ring a bit, if possible. A low-key, fun and supportive atmosphere would be preferred, backyard is fine, I just don’t want to ride in a competitive show barn. I’m very independent once I get to know my way around and am available evenings and weekends so could help with feeding, etc. Feel free to PM me with any suggestions.

Bucks County PA - rider wanted

I wasn’t sure where to post this. I have tried on this thread before but now the weather is good so maybe there is someone around. My project horse is a 5 yo OTTB mare. Very sane but green. I am trying to keep up with riding her and ride and compete my gelding (eventing). Specifically I want to show her at the Thursday Morning Horse Show at the Bucks County Horse Park. I also like to bring my gelding for the jumpers. So I need a groom but I am willing to share. You can show the mare (or the gelding if you are brave and skilled) In equitation or hunters. Her right lead canter is unbalanced AT BEST, and I am just starting her over fences. But as the summer progresses I am sure she will be great. I may also go to some schooling dressage shows. She is at my home barn in Pipersville. She generally needs more attention since she is here alone.

Bealeton VA – Horseless Rider

Hello,

I am moving to Bealeton, Virginia and am looking for a horse in the area that needs some extra exercise! I have a dressage background and spent my junior rider career on the Arabian show circuit, but have riding experience with many other breeds as well. I have taken some time out of the saddle for the last couple of years due to graduate school and a new career, and started riding again this fall only to need to have surgery on my foot that kept me off of a horse again until now. I do have some back problems that keep me from riding any major problem horses, but am happy to help bring a project horse along! If there is anyone out in the Bealeton/Warrenton area that needs help getting some horses ridden I’d be happy to help. I can provide references from previous instructors if needed! I can be reached on the forum or by email at lrharris@vt.edu.

Thank you!

Laura

Thought I’d throw this out there… Quattro is ready to be backed!

Calm, confident, lightweight rider needed for 15.3h greenbroke 3 y/o in NW GA just south of Chatt. He longes, long lines, has steering and brakes, wears full tack of your choice (has worn saddle seat, hunt seat and Western tack) and has been brought along slowly and carefully. Stands quietly at mounting block while we hang across him from either side; has been led a few steps carrying weight.

Sadly both my groom and I really are too heavy to be starting a small, light 3 y/o, so I’m looking for an experienced, light rider of any discipline to work under my supervision starting the boy lightly under saddle.

We have an indoor, an outdoor & a round pen available; our objective is to keep everybody safe, calm & relaxed.

If you’re a junior or an ammy, this could well turn into some catch-rides at shows, just in hack classes.

PM me if interested.

Horseless rider in Chattanooga TN

I’m a 22 year old college student who will be back in Chattanooga TN in August. Have been looking for a way to ride for awhile, but there’s not too much going on in my area.
Have 10 years riding experience, mostly in dressage, but had a few months training with an eventing BNT. If you have any riderless horses who need some exercise, please PM me, I’m more than willing!

horseless rider Northern New Jersey

I’m the OP of this thread! Things are even more complicated but thought I’d throw it out there.
Older adult rider with some back issues. I love trail riding. Have had some training in english, less training more saddle time western, and some recent gaited horse riding lessons (Peruvian paso) and trail riding on MFT.
Gaited horse is a must unless just ambling along trails which I am perfectly happy to do.
30 yr marriage ended, so no money for even low cost lease. Living in North NJ and home to eventually move to Hunterdon County.

Is Nokesville close enough? I definitely could do with some help keeping mine exercised.

Possible riderless young horse in Loudoun County, VA

Just casting out a line here to see if there is any interest. I have a young mare who has just been started, an Trakehner/Arab about 15.2h. She was for sale but will soon return to the trainer for more undersaddle training if she does not find a home (I’d actually rather keep her, but the timing is terrible!) I am planning a pregnancy soon and will not want to ride while PG, so want to see if anyone would be interested in riding her on my farm after she comes back from the trainers in a couple of months. She’s a sweet mare, light and responsive and a lovely mover. I would like to steer her towards dressage, so would like to find a competent rider with some dressage knowledge for her (need not be upper level - just someone who knows a little dressage and is good with youngsters.) Soft hands and a patient, kind style are most important. Showing would be possible for the right person. E-mail me at secondfiddlefarm@gmail.com or PM. I’m in Lovettsville, VA close to Hamilton.

Some really nice rides in Florida (Ocala).

Betwee the market and my father’s worsening condition (not just the alzhiemers, but now diverticulosis that requires surgery), I have several beasties just sitting around, begging for attention: FEI level schoolmaster (16.1h), two 14.1+ handers (both ride “big”: one could step into the ring tomorrow and win OR could event–she’s very experienced and ready to go, w/ lead changes; the other is greener, but showable and very pretty), plus there’s Mr. Tough Guy, 15.0h Kevlar, full-bro to Theodore O’Connor, and also Cat, full sis, who is a “smaller” 14.1 hander, pregnant, but ready to get back to work, too.

NONE have been in work so all are unfit and fat, but all are also mannerly (except Kev, who is typically stallion-y). I would entertain free leases off-the-farm on any of them, except Kev (for obvious reasons), or on-the-farm (everything free). It’d just be better for them that they get some attention while I’m dealing with my father, especially the two large-larges. I’m 3 miles from the horse park, so there’s good trail riding to be had–and I’d help with trailering them around, if needed.

Wish I was closer!!! I am in NY!!! Would love a schoolmaster…

I think you would find horses to ride around Islip, is it West Islip or Central but I know people there that have horses and not enough time to ride them. They are next to a really big park, they don’t really have any amount of land, about an acre but the park is available to ride.

I am in Orange County NY so Islip is a ways away…Thanks anyway…

Sorry, but hey, how about looking for a therapeutic riding school, they are always looking for exercise riders. There has to be one near you. Also horse rescues need help too, they need riders.
