riderless horses and horseless riders?

Too bad you are not closer, I wuld love tot ake him! My daughter is just starting off lead w-t and he would be wonderful for her! Oh well…

That is too bad - that’s his favorite thing to do, too! (Well, that and cross country, but he’s pretty much retired from that, except the small stuff. ;))

Heh - if I don’t get any bites in the next couple of weeks, New York might start looking good (and, hey, I like anyone with Teddy in their signature ).

why is he avaiable if he is so good? Does he have any soundness issues?

Short version: my job doesn’t pay all that well, and I’d rather not have to sell my girl (bought when my personal economy was much flusher ;)). He was my first and I owe him, so he’ll never be for sale. He’s sound with just a joint supp for age-related stiffness (knock on wood, or I’ll jinx myself…), but I’m advertising him for kids/trails/local-level stuff because I’d like to keep him that way as long as possible!

Still horseless in SJ…

I’m looking for something to ride close to Mullica Hill, NJ. I can trade my time for lessons or just some riding time. I can’t afford lease or lessons at the moment since my job ended, but I miss riding. Pretty competent on the flat, not much of a jumper. I’m just a bit out of shape after having about a year off. Wish I could say I could travel out of the area, but distance is an issue since I’m jobless.

Horseless in D.C. metro area

Horseless rider located in Montgomery County, MD.

I’m 24, been riding since I was a kid. Taught beginner lessons through college and got a change to ride/show a little as a trade-off. Now that I’m out of college and working full-time the horses have fallen by the wayside, mostly due to $$$–and I miss it horribly.

I’m 5’3", roughly 120 lbs, so I’m comfortable on decently-built mediums and larges. I prefer not to ride anything much over 16 hands–I’m short and have a harder time finding my balance. I’ve always been something of a “wussy” rider, but I promise you I’m competent, on both greenies and made ones. I’d be happy to trail ride, can jump up to 3’, would LOVE to get on schoolies who need “tune-ups” for your lesson program or whatnot. I’m out of shape and haven’t been on a horse in over a year, so it’ll take a bit to get into the swing of things, but I’ve got a decent seat, nice hands, and I’ll love your horsie to bits.

I’m currently car-less, but that’s due to change in the next few weeks. Would prefer to stay within a 30-minute drive of the north-Bethesda area. Can provide references if you’d like them.

Horseless in Chicago

Well, now that Ransom is retired I’m looking for something to ride. I live in Chicago, IL but can travel up to 45 minutes one way. Email me if you have a horse that can use some work.

Horseless Rider in Middletown/Hartford, CT

Hello!

I am a young working professional who will be in the Middletown/Hartford, CT area for about a year and I am looking for a horse to ride in the meantime. I have been riding since I was little in mostly hunters, but for about 6 months now I have been eventing. I had a working student position that I just completed (please PM for more information) at an eventing barn. I would be interested in riding 4-5x a week and would be willing to consider a half-lease or lease, as well. I would like to potentially show the horse, as well! If you are looking for your horse to get back into shape, please let me know…I’d love to get the saddle-time!

Riderless in WNY

Hello. I’m looking for a horse for half lease or just a nice horse that needs some riding. I would like a hunter in the 2’6" range. I’ve been riding for about 5 yrs( Since I was 10) and would just like a horse that is fun to ride and to possibly show once or twice this summer. Private Message me if you think you might have something that needs riding. Thank you!

Horseless Rider in DC

Horseless Rider in NW DC - I’ve been riding since I was 8 years old. I rode at Hazelwild during college and have done hunt seat, training level dressage, and was a licensed tour guide in Fredericksburg where I drove a horse and carriage throughout the old town.

I haven’t had the opportunity to ride as much as I would like to in the last few years since I moved to DC however I have half leased a horse in Spencerville and taken lessons in Poolesville. I work full time 9-5 but would like to ride after work and weekends. I have a car and work in SE DC.

I am five nine and of medium build. I am seeking a horse friend for long walks in the woods and mutual exercise.

Feel free to contact me with any questions about my experience or references.

Thought I’d give this another shot since I see some folks are from the DC area…

I have two (possibly three) horses that could use another 2-3 rides a week. They’ll be in the Poolesville area after June 1. A small farm with lighted outdoor and a small set of trails I think. Different farm than the one in the videos/photos.

The first is a 17 year old 16.1h TB gelding. He’s a been there, done that type with experience in the hunters, jumpers, eventing and just being a fun sidekick. He doesn’t need an advanced rider, but does prefer a rider who’s solid in the tack and has independent hands.

The second is a 7 year old 15.1h pinto (Arabx? NSH?) gelding. A D O R A B L E. He’s really quiet to ride but quite green. Likes a soft, hunter-y ride and is a bold trail partner. A consistent, fair rider/handler would be desired as he is a little shy and finally coming out of his shell… would hate to backslide!

The third is only a possibility right now. A 10 year old 16.3h TB gelding with no offtrack training yet. He starts his reschooling June 1, but if he is doing well and a quiet rider is wanting to hop on it could work out.

I don’t have a trailer, but if the rider were looking to get out and had access I’m happy to let them offsite to lesson/school/show. These guys can do flatwork, jump (TB moreso than the little pinto, for now) and hack out. Obviously would prefer one person that is looking to ride more than one horse, but that’s probably a long shot! Email me at llefebure1@hotmail.com to chat.

Free summer lease in MD/VA/PA or near Portland, ME

I’m looking for someone to either full lease my horse in the Mid-Atlantic area, or half lease him in Maine. He’s a very nice, very personable, 3’ Hanoverian hunter (competitive at A shows and wins the hack). He loves trail riding and jumping cross country too. Needs an experienced, confident rider if you want to full lease him (less experienced riders ok for the partial lease in Maine). PM me for more details!

Posting again for my 7 year old Irish Draught gelding. Needs excercise - fun to ride and plenty of room to ride in.

What are you looking for?
Are you in the Pasadena area.

Horseless in Crofton, MD

I’m staying in Crofton MD for the summer and taking a summer class at the University of Maryland. I am looking to get a few hours of riding time during the week/weekend. I’ve been riding mainly western (some english) over the past 10 or so years. I also have experience working/training young horses.

Horse Needs Rider in North Colorado Springs Area

I have an older, sound, 14.3 hand Morgan gelding that would love to be used more. I currently am leasing a horse at a different barn so I don’t get out to use him as much as I would like and a couple people I know have said they would help me out with working him but haven’t followed through. He is well trained for jumping and lower level (training and some first level) dressage, though given that he is older I don’t want him jumped too high. He is boarded at a place with direct access to miles of trails and a couple outdoor arenas. He is a really great horse for just about anyone- the only reason I am not riding him at the moment is I am trying to work on my jumping skills at 3’3" plus and don’t want to put that kind of stress on him. I may be open to moving him to a different location depending on the situation.

Underthebridge - I sent you a PM.

horseless rider in new york (long island)

My horse will be out of work this entire summer and I’m looking for something to ride !

I’m looking for something that I could jump, possibly show (if the owner allows) and maybe trail ride. I also have references! I’m up for trying new things so an eq. horse, hunter, or jumper will suite me (I’ve competed in all three at one point). Would be a great loving home for the summer! Looking for a June, July, August situation (but possibly more when I find out my school situation)
