Horseless Rider in Bay Area
Horseless Rider on Peninsula
My horse has been on r&r since October with a deep digital flexor tendon tear and is still in therapy with an unknown recovery date.
Possibly looking for something to ride in the Woodside/Portola Valley area after work and/or on weekends. Have done H/J most of my life - up to AO jumper level - love trail-riding, or just working with a young horse or a horse that needs to be kept in shape (did that for a friend who was pregnant). Have had some eventing/dressage training as well.
Have all my own equipment - saddle, two bridles, multiple bits, girths, helmet, etc…
Work in Menlo Park. Please PM me if interested. Thank you!
Horseless rider in Boston
Very experienced H/J rider who lives in South Boston would love whatever chance there is to sit on horses who need rides! Before college, I showed through the A/O jumpers and during college, competed a few borrowed horses in the pre-green and AA hunters. In the last few years, I’ve ridden some sale horses and most recently helped get a hunter started over fences. I’m just looking for ride time, so am happy to play with greenies.
Ideally looking to be closer to the city but will go out to the 495 belt as I work in Newton. References available.
In search of horse!
I am in search of a horse. Not to own, but to free-lease for the summer (not buy - I just can’t afford it). I had assumed that not having a horse would be the ideal situation to go and be a working student at Michelle Labarre’s (if you haven’t heard of her, she is a classical dressage trainer with an amazing amount of skill and insight) barn in PA this summer, but this is not the case; she is very protective of her horses and their careful training, and wants any student to learn on their ‘own’ mount before riding them. There is another person who also wants the position of working student with her, and this person has a horse already; this puts me in somewhat of a predicament.
If I had known that bringing my own horse was preferable to Michelle, I would have started searching ages ago - the opportunity to have my own project and her tutelage at the same time - amazing! That said, I have <20 days to find a horse, or the position could very well go to someone else. I have wanted to start a horse or train a greenie for a long time, and this is the perfect opportunity to do it with constant expert supervision. That said, it’s also an excellent investment - 3 months of almost-professional training for free, and no board to pay.
I completely understand that nobody has seen me ride or knows me, but because I am in a fairly tight time frame, I thought it would be worth posting this - the worst that can happen is that nobody responds. Getting references wouldn’t be a problem. I’m a 20-year-old with a lot of experience and knowledge about training the basic foundations of classical dressage and the lower-level movements. I’m also a capable jumping and cross-country rider, but this experience would likely focus on dressage (almost any horse can learn to jump after he’s learned to carry himself!)
If you know anyone who has a horse who’s too young, too green, or too much horse for someone, or just needs work (particularly the young greenies, even if they know nothing) please let me know. Passing the information to people whom you think might be interested would also be greatly appreciated!
I am located in Rochester, NY, and the farm is near Scranton, PA. Location is definitely a factor, as I don’t have a trailer and would have to pay someone for shipping. Here goes nothing!
Thanks for reading this long post! Any possible answers can go directly to my email: twogreenturnips@gmail.com
Happy riding,
Adair
Horseless Rider in Baltimore, MD
Horseless Rider in Baltimore MD!!!
Due to some major life changes, I no longer own a horse. I work full time and my hours are a bit “difficult” for riding with a trainer right now. I just want to ride again.
I can provide references if you like, and I have my own saddle. Feel free to PM me - thank you!
ISO someone free lease in exchange for stall work
I have a beautiful farm in W. Loudoun, miles of trails (and I mean MILES), indoor, etc. but I have no one to ride with. I teach on Sundays and a few days during the week but they are not advanced enough to ride out (most are kids).
What would be ideal is someone looking to lease. I have a couple wb’s, a few qh’s. I have a couple trainers that teach me, if you leased you’d be more than welcome to use your trainer or mine.
Trying again now that the weather’s nice…
Riderless horse - southern Mt Washington Valley, New Hampshire
I work way too many hours, and Tari could definitely do with someone else riding a few times a week! She’s a 6 y/o Arab, 14.2 h (carries 5’8" me without a problem) eventually destined for eventing (if I ever get the time…), doing dressage and trails right now. Not for a beginner (still green around the edges! ;)), but doesn’t need advanced rider, either - mostly just a decent rider who’s confident. She’s awesome on the ground and W/T/C/beginning jumping - successful at local open shows and unrec dressage (training level). I’m looking for something to help offset costs, but not a ton of money - totally negotiable depending on how often someone wants to ride!
Showing or trailering out for trail rides or lessons is fine (there are a couple of good trainers within 5 miles or so). I can ride once a week at most mid-June through August, so for someone who’d like to show - or trail ride five days a week! - this could be a great situation!
You have a pm!!!

riderless horse SW WA
Horse looking for rider in Castle Rock WA.
Very sweet and sane TB mare needs more attention. I recently re-acquired this mare after the teenage girl we sold her to a year ago lost interest in horses.
She loves trails and has been doing lower level dressage and a little jumping in the last year. I have been taking her out on the trail a little, but am having a hard time getting two horses ridden due to work, etc.
I plan on doing a lot of trail stuff this summer and would love to have another trail buddy, but would also be willing to let someone work with her on the dressage or jumping if they wished.

Would you consider coming to southern NH? I have an older jumper–broke to death on the flat, but too old and creaky to jump the big jumps any more–and I can often use help getting him out a couple of days a week. He’s a nice horse and it’s a very nice property, but it’d probably be a solid hour from South Boston. (One possible, though not guaranteed, perk is that there are many quality horses on the property, and if you’re friendly and ride well, you may be able to pick up additional rides. I’ve had a college kid coming out to help me during the school year, and she almost always had two or three on her list.)
If you’re interested, let’s talk more. I’m a bit wary of inviting a stranger out, but I’m sure I’d get over it once we spoke directly.
Riderless Horse located in Texas:
6 year old OTTB, 16.2ish, red bay gelding, no white, barefoot, gaining weight and could still use more.
Has basically done nothing since coming off of the track last year due to my lack of time and 2 other horses.
Very sweet, but not very trusting at first- because of this experienced horse person need only ask. He will do ANYTHING for a peppermint.
Would do off-site “free lease” with verifiable references- vet, farrier, trainer, etc.
Basically he would be nice for someone whose horse is on layup or they suddenly find themselves horseless but would like something to work with. I would be willing to pay for showing/schooling shows if so inclined when ready and would possibly help to pay for clinics/board for right situation.
Dressage TB available, Denver CO
A beautiful bay 16.2 h TB is available for free/full lease or partial lease. He is 18yo and has lots of show experience. He could still compete at Training/1st level dressage. Since he is a little older, I would prefer that he not jump more than crossrails. He is a forward and responsive boy. Pretty good on trails too. He has been ridden past elk, and takes it all in stride.

Horseless in Fairfield County CT/upper Westchester NY
Hi all - I am a former junior rider (big eq then IHSA in college) who recently restarted riding at age 37 looking for a horse to ride 1-2x week. I am in Ridgefield, but commutable to anywhere in the surrounding area (North and South Salem, Brewster NY, Bedford, NY, Wilton, Redding, Newtown CT.)
Happy to just W/T/C but would also love to find a situation where I could take some lessons and get more involved. Haven’t jumped in over a year but would love to again Very flexible on schedule and what you need. Mature, knowledgeable, can ride greenies no problem…though not scary dangerous greenies.
Just need to get back in the saddle!
Horseless rider in NW WA
I have recently come out of a free lease situation, and am looking for another horse to ride.
My experience: I have ridden 10 years, off and on. Started out riding huntseat, and am now getting into dressage. I am somewhat of a timid rider, so I am best matched with a calmer, more laid back horse as opposed to hot/spooky. I do, however, have a good seat, quiet hands and a solid understanding of the fundamentals of dressage (I do not believe in gadgets or headsets and that kind of garbage.) Ideally I would like to do a few shows this season, but it isn’t a requirement. I will be coached by my good friend, a former second level rider (she is no longer riding due to illness.) I live in Bellingham and am willing to commute, oh, 40 miles or so.
Horseless Rider-Athens Georgia area, Athens/Monroe/Conyers
Interested in riding three+ times a week, can provide references, would just be thankful for the saddle time! Eventer history (about eleven years), jumpers/dressage for a couple other years, done ranch riding/cutting…love riding western! Anywhere in Athens or between Athens and Conyers…I commute between the two locations right now and am free to make my own schedule. Thanks!!! Going crazy without saddle time!
Horseless Pony Clubbers in Fairfield Co. CT
I am working with two Pony Clubbers aiming for their B ratings this summer, both of whom need to find horses to rate on due to unfortunate circumstances. The situation can be very flexible depending on the horse.
About the girls: both girls are lovely, tactful riders working with respected instructors and boarding at reputable barns. I will provide more information upon request.
About the horse: for the B rating the horse must be capable of First Level dressage, jumping a course at 3’7 and gymnastics to 3’3, and cross country at 3’7. Stallions and horses under 5 are not permitted in Pony Club events.
If you know of a riderless horse that might work, please PM me!
TB/Belgian Cross 17H Gelding 9 y/o
I have a beautiful BIG TB/Belgium foxhunter that needs exercise. He’s a blast to ride - loves to go cross-country. Well-broke in the ring. He’s quiet and well-trained -but not for a dead beginner. We have beautiful trails, a small ring. (he’s really fat right now). One mile off Rt66 in Delaplane, va.
08848
Looking for confident trail rider to join me. I get too nervous to give my 16 year old TB a confident ride but he is honest sane and sound as well as a blast to be around! I prefer my 30 something QH who has been there and done that. Look up the zip code, then PM me if you can really commit to at least once a week for the next few months.
Occasional riderless horse NE of Richmond VA
Looking for experienced adult rider who wants to ride during the weekdays.
Trail rides at my place on very nice 17h eventing horse.
Must be EXPERIENCED, not because the horse needs experienced rider. I just don’t want to have to teach someone to ride.
PM me for more information.
Riderless Horse (Free lease, on- or off-farm) - NH
And it seems I have another one…
Jude is a 15.2 h, 23 y/o Thoroughbred gelding who is looking for a child, beginner, or anyone searching for a reliable partner for lower level showing or trails. He’s as bombproof as they come, loves kids (has been ridden and shown by kids as young as 2!), babysits beginners & does (and shows in) everything: eventing, dressage, jumping, gaming, hunt seat, western, in-hand & relaxing trail rides. He can do 4-H or PC, be a school or therapeutic mount, enjoy the trails, or just hang out.
Jude is currently located in Epping, but can move anywhere within 1-2 hrs of Freedom (there will also be room at the barn where I board in Freedom, if someone is interested locally). Pictures are available at http://picasaweb.google.com/jecondon/JudeAndKids# . Free lease=you pay expenses, and you get full use!
