RIP - Champlain Rainmaker

The amazing Champlain Rainmaker died in October. I just found out tonight. I am heartbroken.

I originally created this thread in 2009 but updated it for this sad news. :frowning:

Bred by the McCoys of Vermont he recently sold to Nancy Burnett and is now in here, in the pony capital of the world!!!

2000 Grey Welsh Pony Stallion by Smoketree Mountain Ash out of Cymraeg Raindrop by Farnley Lustre. He has double Farnley Lustre bloodlines. His dam, Cymraeg Raindrop is the full sister to the legendary Cymraeg Rainbeau.

Here are some pictures of him:

I know!! I was so excited. I emailed her about him at the beginning of the week. I love him.

Congratulations to his new owner! How big is he? Will he be standing at public stud?

He is 12.2 and yes, he’s available to everyone! Nancy is an extremely nice lady.

Congratulations!!! Another nice one to choose from.

Very nice!

Spoke with Nancy today and Rainmaker will be in Virginia by mid-March.

congrats Nancy, I know this guy well, he is a love, and throws the most gorgeous foals.

So, his dam was 27 when she had Rainmaker. Just goes to show you that the older mares dont necessarily make lesser quality foals.

Very cool.

Website?? what city ?

Nancy lives in Gordonsville, VA. Working on a website.

Same city that Chris Owens and her daughter Gail Campbell lived. Sadly, neither are still alive. They stood Welsh Hills and Southern Lad. I believe Chris’s daughter is doing things with the farm now.

Now in Virginia!

Nancy called me yesterday to say Rainmaker is now in Virginia!

He arrived a few days ago from Vermont. She can’t get over how sweet and friendly he is. Just LOVES people.

She invites all to come see him for yourself.

He’s wonderful!!!

Website up & running yet?
Would love to see.

I didn’t ask her! Rats.

Let me see…

Makes me want a mare again!! A nice nice mare. Yeah Virginia Ponies

Rest in Peace Champlain Rainmaker - you were a great one. Apparently died October 15th, I am sick…
