ROC USA

We Just had our first baby April 1st! He is out of my jumper mare Viva and was carried by a recipient mare, but viva is also pregnant…We named him Revival and he is adorable and such a character! I think he looks just like his mom…Samo your baby is so cute, and I can’t wait to see them all grow up…Viva herself is due any second now so I’ll keep everyone posted when she pops, we also have a thoroughbred due in 2 weeks! babies everywhere! I know 2 others have been born, a colt out of Nancy whitehead’s mare Mercedes, and a filly owned by mary goldman. Im at the barn they are all at so i’ll try to get some pictures of everyone and put them up!

Congrats! I would love to see more pictures! Viva looks like a really cool mare. The baby is adorable. It will be neat to see the other baby too! Good Luck and I look forward to seeing more pics!

I really like Revival, that is a good name.

Viva had her baby this morning around 5 am…Another chestnut colt with 3 white stockings, one white sock, and a big blaze, hes almost cuter than his brother! We’re naming this one Raison Du Vive, which means “reason to live” in French. Anyway I’m excited that all went well and we just have one left and then all done with babies being born for the year for us!

Congrats on your extra surprise! They are both amazingly wonderful. Good job Viva! Love both names.

Wow, he is a really cute guy! It will be fun to see them grow up together.

They sure do have a lot of white! Mom does too though. I think I got lucky because Gracie only has 1 little ermine and a stripe. Ace has 3 socks, 1 ermine and a stripe!

Keep posting updates! I look forward to seeing all our Roc’s grow up!

Hi Everyone, here are pictures of all the babies outside having fun! Hope you enjoy…

Cute babies! I wish I had that big field and all those babies to play with!

Love all the babies.

Love the names & the babies are super cute!!

But does this mean no more shows for Viva? :frowning: She was my fav to watch.

No she will show again, well its actually a really funny story, We had the embryo transfer done last May, and all we wanted was to have one foal with the recipient mare…Well they flushed Viva and got one embryo out so we figured that Viva wasn’t pregnant. Not until getting down to WEF to show, we saw they she kept getting bigger and bigger, we were like ok, well maybe shes out of shape because she had about a month off before she went to Florida, so we kept working her, showed her a little and she was struggling to get over the jumps which was not like her at all, so finally a vet came and checked her and sure enough she was pregnant(actually the 2nd vet said she was pregnant the first one palpated her and told us she wasn’t!)…The vets said that has hardly ever happened to have been flushed and then still gotten pregnant, so it was a real surprise but we’re happy with the outcome: )…So anyway, she will be back into work when she can and probably start showing again next year Wellington.

Oh good–I thought maybe something had happened. That is funny. So you can now say Viva’s baby has already jumped around WEF then?

You were very lucky I think! 2 for 1!

I have a question since you seem to have a lot of Roc foals around. What is the normal size at 1 -2 months old?

My colt seems very big to me and it being my mares first foal, I am hoping he doesn’t become a monster!

She is only 16 hands and I think he is almost 11.3 at 1.5 months! Is that about average size would you say? He just looks so big standing next to her!

here are a couple pics of today. He is in front of his mother, he just seems big to me! (could be that I am surrounded my QH babies in the neighborhood and they look so tiny!)

Sam, I wouldn’t worry too much. At least Ace isn’t as big as Lexi, my resident “giraffe”, was at that age, lol. Luckily for you, we didn’t take the truck on Saturday, or I might have snuck him in the back  He really is adorable, and so inquisitive

The first Roc baby of the season showed up this morning. It is a filly! She is so beautiful. I have six more to go. I am just amazed with every baby born by Roc is so beautiful and strong.

well you have to show us pictures!

I know what you mean about being strong! Ace tried to stand up before he was even all the way out of his mom. Once he was up and walking he didn’t lay down for hours! Congrats. Look forward to pictures.

I have to say I just love my colt. He is so smart and has the best personality. I am lucky to have him and he is my keeper so he will be with me for a while. We are seriously thinking of breeding her again next year.

Jan,

I heard that Ace was quite the hit on Saturday! Ira keeps talking about him. I will certainly take it as a compliment. He has a great eye, I think his horse Edison is still with the Jaynes and is going to the Olympic trials! Not bad for a TB off the track. I can now say I rode an Olympic contender:D

Sam,

Edison and Charlie finished in the top ten at the trials and made Tour 1, which is going to the CSIO’s at La Baule, Rome, St. Gallen so, yes, you have definitely ridden a very serious Olympic contender

I have to say, Ace handled all the attention on Saturday extremely well, so the show ring shouldn’t faze him at all

Haha, I heard this story from my daughter (BP), now you have two for one!! They are both adorable!

Pictures, lady, pictures! And when I get up there and see them, no matter how much I start to beg, DO NOT let me buy another one or my husband will surely disown me. But I can’t wait to see them all!

Sam, your guy looks to be about the same size as ours did at that age, and he is currently pushing or right at 17 hands (and will be 3 in late June). I’ll have my daughter measure him next time she is up there so we’ll know for sure.
