ROC USA

oh jeese, 17 hands. Aye yay yay…

I am only 5’5! Oh well I guess it is better than having a 15 hander.

So much for maiden mares having smaller foals.!!

Sam - Ace looks fabulous…

You guys are starting to change my mind about Roc with all these lovely babies. Sam, I love Ace, he is too cute!

More pictures! More pictures!

Congrats to everyone with a Roc baby so far… they are adorable! My old mare is due on May 1st to Roc so I’m impatiently waiting for her new owner to send pictures. I’ll be sure to post them as soon as they arrive!

I thought Charlie was going with Urbanus?? Not that Edison isn’t just as cool–I saw him last summer & he was quite impressive.

He rode both horses in the trials, but you are right, he qualified for the short list team with Urbanus.

Ace got a present today. Apple flavored jolly ball. He loves it. Mom could care less.

Hope all the Roc foals are doing well. Any updates on the 2 viva foals? I would like to see them in a picture toegether. That would be cool!

Nix, is you mare close?

I can’t believe how big Ace is already. I used the weight tape on him today and it said 280 pounds! He is so smart and has such a personality. He already has the evil eye when he knows he is in trouble.

These babies are too much fun! I may have to get me another one.

here is a pic of today, he will be 2 months old tomorrow!

Holy cow Sam!!! He is looking more and more lovely every day! I’m sooooo jealous.

I heard my old mare is teasing her new owner pretty good. She’s 200-250 on the chemetrics test… groaning and looking at her belly. Tail head totally loose and waxed up! Sounds like she’s ready but baby has other ideas!!

Waiting… waiting… waiting…

Ace gets better looking every time I see a new picture. You must be thrilled.

I never used chemetrics, how does that work? I used the milk test. Everyone told me that her butt would relax. I tried for milk after she was about 4 days over due and the squares all turned red. She didn’t actually haave Ace until the next night. I also tested her milk that night and it said the same thing! She was a maiden though.

I am very happy with him. He couldn’t be any cuter. I wish he would lose all his fuzz though because it is already 90 degrees out!

Post pics as soon as you have them. Good luck!

I’m sure he’ll start molting soon and then he’ll look like a moth eaten quilt. Just warning ya:D

He is a little bit on his face. Where the fuzz is coming out he is almost black. He also has little rubs all over. Some on his butt, some on his neck where he likes to look out of his stall.

Do any of you know when you start teaching them to go in and out of the trailer? He doesn’t have to go anywhere until October, but though I would ask when the best time to start is.

He had his first clipper lesson today. Could care less. He wanted to eat them!

You could teach him about the trailer whenever you like. It’s much easier when they are small to coax them in than when they are 16 hand two year olds!! A lot of foals learn the trailer ride stuff when mom goes to get re-bred or if they go to an inspection. If mom is a willing participant and the trailer is big, go ahead and make it a learning experience for everyone. Having lots of “helpers” around is good too!

Some folks swear by the Chemetrics test… others never use it. IF you do a search you might find some helpful info.

Still no baby out of the mare… :frowning: I was hoping she would have popped by now.

The good news is I have had the goodfortune to ride and on a couple of occasions to jump a Roc that I think might be his tallest to date. I am not 5’5" The good news is he is like riding an overstuffed chair. And his jump gives me goosebumps - I am glad that God gave horses manes for me to hang on to :). The biggest problem I had was the distance to the ground when I dismounted.

On a different note I am an Auntie of sorts. My 4yo homeraised TB mare gave birth to Vanna on 4-22-08. Vanna belongs to one of my best friends. We both have Van in our names thus Vanna for a barn name. She is Bay with pretty white markings on her face, 2 socks behind and a golf sock in front. Just right since mom is called Smidgeon because she was born without a smidgeon of white on her very dark brown body.

If it works for you here is a link.

Rudee, so cute!

I would love to have a horse that is smooth! My lifetime horse is the bounciest horse ever at the trot, although he has a great canter. Gracie has a great canter, but her jump is hard!

Your baby is adorable! Roc does have a lot of white, so your baby was bound to have a little.

Nix, wheres the baby?

I’m a grandmother and it’s a BOY!!!

Oh my I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to catch up on this thread… Kali’s foal (by Roc) was born on Sunday the 27th. Everyone is healthy and happy!!

I posted some pictures on my COMH page. Here is a link:

He’s an odd color right now so I’m not sure if he’ll be seal bay or maybe a deep bay color? He doesn’t have that reddish or orangish look to him right now. Three feet have white and he’s got a funky star/half stripe thing going on. He’s just adorable and I wish he was mine!!!

She’s very cute! Does this mean my mom will have a new one to braid next year?

Nix, the link still isn’t working:(

Nix, your foal sounds alot like mine! (three socks and a stripe!)

Ace is shedding on his face and he looks really dark, but his legs are still a little grey/brown.
