Nooo…that’s not sad. Just the way it is. No one else gets residuals from things sold on ebay either. Like old vinyl record albums – Elvis’ estate doesn’t get anything when people put his stuff up for sale. Get what I mean? Just the way things are.
However, if they would re-release the vid, then yes, he’d make some bucks.

The big question is WHO has the rights to the video. If it’s fallen into public domain, then he won’t likely ever get anything for it, nor will it likely be released except from whomever is bright enough to make a pristine copy and duplicate it a few hundred times, but if he can figure it out or knows who does, then there is certainly the possibility of royalties coming his way. IMO, he should do as many videos as he can before he passes. It seems like the equestrian world is heading down the road of one day reading from the “ancient texts” written by the deity known only as GM or the cave paintings that hold the secrets of proper equitation. If people like Jenkins and Morris are indeed the foundation that the current house of American h/j riding is built on (as many of their fanatic followers proclaim time and again), is it not sensible to maintain that foundation periodically instead of letting it fall into disrepair? Maybe I’m just rambling nonsensically but I think it’s something that should be addressed.

I know its illegal to copy videos and sell them but what about getting them onto your computer and putting them on youtube?

I delivered two horses to Rodney for him to sell and it could have been a movie, we used our big six horse van and this was back in the eighties, he was in Virginia at I think Montpelier or somewhere like that, anyway their was a long wooden bridge to cross , and it looked like the one in the movie with Chevy Chase when he moves to the the country called Funny FArm and the moving van crosses the bridge and it collapses, I panicked and my exhusband would not let me get out of the van as I did not want to ride across I wanted to walk I thought it would collapse, we parked walked and found that we could go in from a different way and or cross that bridge as it would hold, I was totally terrified, his farm was just gorgeous, but his jumps were all set up on a grass field, no little fenced in rings like we have today
however the horses got delivered safe and sound and we managed not to have a heart attack when we were already nervous eough meeting him and delevering horses to his farm

What does it cost to ship a video to KY? $40? $50? ;):lol: Everyone is really THAT law abiding? Again, it’s not being made anymore, so you aren’t kicking anyone in their wallet if you copy it. Probably still illegal but jeez. I want to see it too!

I’m not desperate to see the video and have no intention of ever trying to purchase it, but I agree with you in that it’s one thing to make hundreds of copies and sell them on a website like so many people do with like TV series and stuff. It’s another thing entirely IMO if someone makes copies specifically for people who ask for one, and although most people on COTH don’t know each other in real life, it would still seem much less business like. It would almost be like someone doing a favor for someone else.
