Rodrigo was wearing a SKUNK HELMET!!!!

On the World cup on OLN!!! GO RODRIGO!!!

I have noticed in the OLN shows from the US that Americans generally don’t wear approved helmets, and Europeans in the European OLN shows generally do. So it’s possible that one reason the Europeans are arguably better horsemen than Americans is that they haven’t had their brains scrambled as often.

Me too…

what did that post origanally say? The one you said ‘I can’t believe you just said that’ to…? Pretty pretty pweese?

“The strongest people are not those who always win, but those who stand back up when they fall.”

Wow. I can’t believe you posted that.

Betsy

The replay showed from the front angle and the horse was well away from him, so no, he didn’t get knocked by the horse.

<< It’s actually SchloM. But I did a double take, too . >>

Ah, thank you Astraled! Schlom-King doesn’t sound as bad as Schlonking.

<< I always thought he was cute but I now realize he is so far beyond merely scopey as to be unreal. I think we need a new word to describe his ability to nail the flying long spot. >>

AGREED!!! What else can I say?? He can take off a stride away from a triple bar and not only clear it but make it look easy, too!!

By the way, the “Dutch CSI” is spelled “s’ Hertogenbosch” and pronounced “shrr-TOgen-bosh”. At least, that’s what I’ve seen and heard most often!

<< “It is right that I should suffer and not the horse, as it was my mistake for being too aggressive.” >>

Awww, what a great guy!! Fruit cakes and all, you still gotta love Ludger.

Beauty is only skin deep…ugly goes right to the bone.

He might not have been knocked in the head by the horse, but his head did take a healthy “bounce” off the ground when he landed. I imagine the helmet helped absorb a bit of that blow. He sure was “sloooow” getting up. Kind of scarry.

Glad to hear reported he was doing fine.

“The older I get, the better I used to be.”

Checkers, that’s why we call it Den Bosch, pronounced “den bos” (not a long ‘o’ and not a short ‘o’ but an in-between ‘o’). Official spelling is 's-Hertogenbosch. Yah, call me anal, but since I had to learn Dutch at home I really had no choice . . .

Agreed Betsy, I thought that was rather uncalled for!

Oh my God, I LOVE Tinka’s Boy!! Step aside, Merry, I am Tinka’s Boy’s #1 fan now!!! Baloubet’s still probably my favorite show-jumper, but I’ve sure gotten hooked on Tinka, too.

Yeah, I noticed Rodrigo’s “skunk” helmet, too! Had the Brazilian colors on it, eh? So THAT’s why the stripe was green. I thought it was just a green skunk. I, too, am glad to see him wearing a helmet with a harness. I just hope it’s one of the approved types!

As for Ludger’s fall, all I can say is… Ouch! I actually HEARD his helmet hit the ground! He’s lucky he rolled away, too, because he just narrowly missed being hit in the head by Goldfever’s hooves. You could get a headache just watching that fall!

Did anyone else think De Niro didn’t look himself? Not only was he knocking lots of fences down (obviously), but he just seemed… different. I don’t know, he just didn’t seem to have any “spark”. Bad day for him, I guess – but after all he’d gone through, it’s perfectly understandable!

Remember when Michael (hmm, why am I on an entirely first-name basis tonight?) and Handel II cut inside that grass ornament thing after the orange oxer? I had been WAITING for someone to try that move, and if anyone was going to do, I knew it was going to be either Ludger or Michael. And it was Michael!

Probably the best laugh I got all night was when Peter Churchill mentioned that Candice King’s maiden name was Schlong. Of course, my mind went into action then: if she had hyphenated her name, she would have been Schlong-King… If someone said her name quickly, it would have sounded like Schlonking!

I just noticed you edited your post, thank you for doing that!

Ludger Beerbaum (sp?) had a nasty spill. He got him into a bad spot at the wall and they crashed. The horse looked like he did his best to avoid stepping on him but it Ludger sat in the dirt for a little while, seemingly stunned. In the replay it appeared that his horse might have hit him in the head, kind of glancing blow sort of thing. Just goes to show you that even a rider like Ludger can make a mistake and I bet that helmet saved him from a bad head injury.

Baloubet (Rodrigo’s horse) is so stunning. I loved it when he threw in a few bucks around the corners. When Rodrigo lost in the third jump off I did get the sense that he was very displeased to have come in second, and Baloubet even did a mini rear. I would have liked to have seen him pat his horse and show a little good sportsmanship, second in the world is nothing to be ashamed of.

Oh wow, that is almost as bad as a police man in my area named Richard Head. And yes, he goes by THAT nickname!

Queen Marine

It had a GREEN STRIPE!!! I WANT ONE!!!

Queen Marine

They showed a 2nd shot of the fall from a different angle, and he didn’t get knocked in the head at all - he was just moving his head away as the horse was taking another stride. The first angle they showed looked like he would have gotten knocked right in the face!

And yes, I was very impressed to see Rodgrigo in that skunk helmet!

“Oh Mickey you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind, hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!”

It’s actually SchloM. But I did a double take, too . As for Pessoa’s helmet, he has a deal with Pikeur, the dealers for the euro-skunks. I too have gained a whole new love for Tinka’s Boy. I always thought he was cute but I now realize he is so far beyond merely scopey as to be unreal. I think we need a new word to describe his ability to nail the flying long spot. And Fuchs almost didn’t make it in! He was one of the riders waived in becasue of the cancellation of the Dutch CSI (you know, the one I can’t spell ). What a win for him

Stall confinement: Week 12 of ???
New X-rays: Salter-Harris type II is healed! Bone deposit is necessitating more stall rest

It had the colors of the Brazilian flag.

Pretty cool since he’s a young guy.
