Sad situations that are going to be happening too much...

Vacation - The intent of my previous post, which was only partially quoted, was related to FIRST reactions based on limited internet details. Most of us don’t have enough information to make an informed opinion on the situation. I don’t want to speculate with “what ifs” or “unless this or this happens”.

Please be clear that neither me nor my post condones (which I also wrote but was not requoted) anybody having horses that they can’t care for. Certainly not. I’m just saying that until we know the details, hoping for a positive outcome for PP, or at least not attacking, is one way to contribute in the discussion.

Either way, I hope the horses are healthy and that she gets help for her health and financial troubles.

Unless there wasn’t a break in.

It is a bit odd that that info was posted in a thread started by seemingly PPs own alter.

Is there a reason to think that is PP’s alter other than posting the thread? I’m honestly curious since apparently I miss out on a lot of the connections around here. I just assumed it was a friend.

You never have to exercise them. You can keep them in a small stall, forever.
That’s also law.

Yah, pretty weird.

Mistyblue can you prove that accusation? How did you reach that conclusion?

Ditto :confused::confused::confused:

prior run ins with AC don’t necessarily mean anything

One of my neighbors reported me to AC…because my horses were standing in mud.

However I make it a point to be on good terms with AC.

They came out, investigated and told the neighbor, Yup, her horses are indeed standing in mud. And if they moved a few feet on up the hill they would be out of the mud.

I wonder about the “horse sitter”
Was she paid? Sure hope she reports the income to the IRS.
Or is she dead in a ditch some where?
Doesn’t seem like she was doing her job.

And in the “crap can happen to anyone dept.” several years ago, we were at a wedding out of state, and the person we had hired, interviewed, and paid to feed the dogs, cats and horses didn’t show up. We came home to animals with no food and no water. They were ok because we had only been gone three days, and left them with full water bowls and troughs, but we were livid. If AC had visited us they would have seen unhappy animals with no food or water, and would not have known how to reach us. We were new in the area at them time, and the neighbors didn’t know us well either. The house sitter that didn’t show up was recommended by a friend, had come over to meet and greet the animals, and we had no reason to expect any problems. So I’m gonna park in the “bad things can happen to good people” lot and hope that things work out ok for pp.

Renvers = PP? Really? I just went through a page of Renver’s prior posts because i obviously have no life today and had some time to do so, i do not see any similarities in writing styles or questions being asked. Renvers doesnt post much… But i dont see he/she jumping on the bandwagon of PP’s posts to defend her or any reason PP would be using the renvers name just to ask questions that arent offensive or that she would have to hide asking??

Really makes no sense for me to assume renvers is an alter for PP. I see no link. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Just because there may not have been “nice” stuff to take doesnt mean people wouldnt pop out of the woodwork to steal from an “abandoned” house. I once had my car broke into. They obviously tried to remove my cd player, which was a piece of junk cd player and totally worthless. When they gave up trying to remove it, they slit my seats, broke the front windows and slashed my tires… Maybe in their frustration that i had nothing of value in my car?? No idea. But desperate people, or bad kids, can do really stupid things.

Fried chicken? Yuck! We used to have taco sundays!

But those that make light of situations like this are those that feel the most guilt when someone blows their head off because they didnt pay attention to the warning signs… Just saying…[/QUOTE]

LOL ROFLMAO

One of my closest confidantes in high school went off the deep end afterward. Decided to kill himself. Failed. Tried again, failed. Told me, on suicide watch at a hospital, how he intended to get it right this time. I looked him in the eye and wished him luck.

Fast forward, 20+ years. He’s by Golly still alive, living in his mother’s basement, mooching off the system, wearing a Lindsey Lohan alcohol anklet thing, father of FIVE. A no good, drunk, useless, unemployed FATHER. He’s 40. He’ll by God live forever, it seems.

Tell me again what we’d be missing if he could buy a suicidal clue in 1991?

Again, one person’s OMG NO is another person’s better off dead.

Next.

And, btw, what the hell EVER planet are you on that I personally owe PP a power bill? A fence? A round bale? GROW UP, PP< you can’t afford 'em. or move in with Butler, she’s big on delusions of grandeur and group hugs.

People who don’t know anything about horses tend to assume that EVERYTHING associated with them (i.e., saddles, no matter how old) is mega-expensive and hockable.

Anyone still remember Musical Jumper? Or Chanter? This is all sounding way too familiar.

EWWW - no, i hate group hugs, i dont even like hugs period, and i hate public displays of affection…

Delusions? Well, i have had a few glasses of wine today…

I’m not financially able to bring a human or animal into my household right now, nor am i offering to, what i am offering is some fencing that i was going to toss out anyway… Hardly something so grand as paying an electric bill or feeding her horses… But if it helps someone who has offered me great advice over the past couple years, i’m more than willing to send it her way.

[edit]

I am very disturbed by the direction this discussion is going. Talking about the conditions/facts is one thing, but to even bring up the subject of suicide in this thread is highly inappropriate. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or concerns - I will not reply to anything more about this subject on this thread.

I do not care which “side” any of us are on, you have to remember this is a human that is currently dealing with a traumatic incident. It is also very possible that she is reading this thread.

Yes, interesting use of the term “confidante”. Might want to change that to “frenemy”, the favored term amongst grade schoolers talking about each other.

I was hoping this thread would not turn this way. It’s hard to figure out what to say in response to anyone feeling they are in a place to make judgements about the value of another persons life. God complex much?!!!

I just hope the mods are asleep at the wheel and a lot of you asshats get your own free vacations when they get back.

Thank you. I find it disturbing in many situations like this how hateful people can be. It seems like they forget or do not care that the person is most likely suffering too, and often their problems with their animals stem from their inability to care for themselves completely. And by the time things get bad, most people aren’t thinking rationally and are just trying to hang onto what little they have. I don’t know how much all this applies to PP, but it’s something I try to keep in mind when I hear of or see possible neglect.

Whatever the whole story is, I hope PP is doing as well as possible in these circumstances.

Unfortunately Laurie I don’t think even COTH can legislate peoples personal ethics. This board gives us a tremendous amount of freedom, which swings both ways. It is sad to see that people think nothing of the fact that this person came home to an empty farm and her home ransacked and personal possessions stolen. Regardless of the how and why, what a grim situation.

I think at this point, we can all agree, we have said what we needed, and other topics do not and should not be brought up.

I’d like to offer that we all say a prayer that this situation rights itself, and that PP takes the opportunity(every door that shuts, a window opens) to get her life in order.

It might seem dismal and very distressing right now. But, I truly believe PP knows what good horsekeeping means and gets back on track.
I also hope that any more breeding cease. There are way more than enough horses who don’t have homes.

I know as a community we all care most about the animals and their welfare, and much of the discussion was voicing our concern.

How many foals are there? Why are people saying she is still breeding? Out of the 6-7 horses, how many are foals?
