What are everyones favorite schooling saddle pads and where do you buy them?
Back on Track pads are my favorite. Many retailers carry them, and usually apply sales discounts.
My distant second choice, but nice for the price are the Lettia coolmax. Then Roma, then Horze (I don’t like the metallic piping but will buy them on sale)
I just LOVE the Kavallerie Gel Half Pad/Saddle Pad. It’s way cheaper than the typical pad and we’ve used in on several different breeds and it works great on all of them, the saddle stays in place and the horses seems to appreciate the relief it gives, easy to clean and maintain.
I love the Lettia Coolmax, especially the baby pads. My horse sweats heavily. I have three or four of the Coolmax baby pads. They have a nice shape (unlike most shapeless baby pads), so they stay put under the saddle, they wash up great, and they are reasonably priced. I bought mine at Horseloverz. They have occasional sales, and that’s when I stocked up. Smartpak also carries them.
I also have the Lettia Coolmax fitted pad for shows, which I really like as well.
I just ordered a TuffRider saddle pad from Amazon for only $22. I haven’t gotten it yet but it had good reviews and I liked the color choices. This one looks nice as well if you want something fun colored. I’m sure State Line Tack has some nice ones as well, but I had an Amazon gift card:)
Ogilvy baby pads! Order them through Ogilvy or Wilton tack Prices are CND.

I second Ogilvy pads but I have a preference for the profile pads! You can get them on their website but I usually get them from a local tack store that carries their products (you can find retailers on their website) to avoid shipping fees
At the Royal in November, Ogilvy usually has 2nds that are relatively cheap in a box at their booth. Some strange color combinations though lol. So if you know anyone that goes, that’s a good time to pick some up.
Their baby pads don’t fit my saddle flap, they’re too short. And I don’t like not having billet straps.
I love my Ogilvy baby pads! I use them for both schooling and showing in the jumpers. You can also get them with girth loops, or get the profile pads that have a deeper drop and come stock with girth loops.
Another vote for Ogilvy pads. They are the only pads I know of that accommodate tall withers. However I also love a sheepskin pad.
You can get bigger baby pads, they have a few sizes. So funny, I always cut the girth loops off pads  but you can also order them with billet straps.
@KLeaphart I actually don’t like the Tuffrider pads, at all. For me, they always get a diagonal crease behind the saddle and it drives me nuts. I’ve had both a dressage and A/P pad from them and both did it, so I’ll never buy that brand again no matter how cheap. But maybe it’ll work better for you.
I like the Shires pads that used to come in Large. I don’t know that they still offer the large and smaller pads. They are great for my 18" saddle. Good quality for a reasonable price. I think they are now making a more contoured shaped pad that I’m look at. Then I always use a half pad. What kind depends on which horse I’m riding, but regularly use Mattes, Thinline and Saddle Right.
Ogilvy. Much prefer the baby pads too as the profile pads are just too much pad on my horse.
Hands down the Ogilvy baby pads. I have a few of the profile pads too, but agree with the above poster as they seem a bit much on my mare as well. I only own Ogilvy products as they are what the mare prefers. The high cut withers fit her perfectly.
@Training Cupid Yikes that would drive me crazy. I’ll have to try it and see what happens. Hopefully it’ll work because I am so tired of boring colored saddle pads.
I like the Smartpak brand ones with the wither profile. I have one with the billet strap which I don’t like, but they sell them with just a girth strap which would be perfect!
I use baby pads and have a few different brands but I’ve found I really need the wither relief (I guess the Ogilvy baby pad has that though)
Awesome. Thanks for all the suggestions! I have heard a lot about the ogilvy baby pads but have never tried them. I guess I will be now.
Ogilvy Profile pad in white from Smartpak. I get them embroidered with my initials… They wash up so nice and stay white. I use them for schooling and showing. I love them so much I ended up getting 8 of them. They are large enough for my bigger saddle and do fine for my smaller saddle.

I also use a half pad on top of the Profile pad.
I change out which half pad I use depending on the horse and saddle.
Right now I am using a sheepskin Thin Line and sheepskin Acavallo half pad that I love…

These are great because you can shim them if you need to.
For a cheaper option, I really love the 20-25 dollar Dover pads! I love the shape and how many colors it comes in and they seem to have a nice shape to them. I’ve had mine for a bit and they always get compliments too. Awesome pad if you want a cheap day to day pad that’s durable but has some color!
