He can’t judge while suspended, unless there is a new type of suspension that allows it and that wouldn’t make any sense at all.
Well done USEF for doing the right thing and putting safety over convenience.
What is the difference between being banned and an expulsion?
He was put “on the list” Friday and judged on Saturday at Devon.
It is listed as "allegations " and an "interim suspension " whatever that means.
IIRC, unless there are other allegations, his behavior did not involve minors and was quite awhile ago.
The Devon management may be a tad busy to notice.
He’s at Devon, not some C show in the middle of Iowa. There’s more than one high up official from USE on the grounds, surely, who would have been in the place to say something to both him and show management.
Hopefully someone who is attending will bring the situation to the attention of the Devon show management, and the steward if need be.
Even better if someone brings it to safe sport’s attention. Take it out of USEFs hands if they are that incompetent.
According to the COTH article, he was placed on the list Friday afternoon and was allowed to continue judging on Saturday, but has been replaced for later this week.
Still BS but I’ll take it
Oh, that’s good then. I hadn’t read this morning’s article.
What happened to Safesport’s teeth? John Manning is now cleared and up to date with his safesport training according to their site. What constitutes a violation of safesport if not this incident? I am confused and disappointed, frankly.
This is disheartening.
Looks like Robert Gage is permanently banned as of 2/1/19. I can’t recall seeing information or reading about this anywhere… His is listed as subject to appeal still.
I saw this right when it was added, and it was not “subject to appeal” initially. I assume the person banned has to actually file an appeal for it to change to “subject to appeal.”
I’ve been waiting on his addition to hit the forums. I’ve not found any information about it from online searches.
And [edit] is still not suspended?
Dear new poster - he is not on the list. If there is some kind of pre-investigation going on then talk to Safe Sport about your concerns and let them do their investigations. Unless someone is on the list you are just adding fuel to gossip.
He has appealed.
If the police were never called or the incident never reported it might not have any info online. I know of someone trying to Safe Sport someone for verbal FB harassment, so there’d never be any online articles or anything like that unless it was major news (ie arrested formally, in which case I doubt he could appeal).
