Safe Sport sprouts Teeth! USEF has a Banned List

And that this is a person or an alter created exclusively to victim shame and/or call them all liars on these threads. No other engagement with the community.

Exactly. In the Me,too thread I allowed myself to be frustrated at the troll nature of this poster. Now, looking at the almost insane doggedness of this poster in the face of constant push back here and almost zero " support" ( likes) it continues. It seems like a VERY personal axe to grind.

I was asking about that earlier in the thread. He still announces at the shows.
Also John Manning was also convicted and is still judging (I think)

Krauss is a convicted and repeat offender. He should never be allowed on any show grounds again.

Surely Krauss, as a convicted predator, isn’t legally allowed to be around minors. So why aren’t parents raising a stink, calling the cops to report his presence at shows? More of the USA Gymnastics/Weinstein/Flintridge syndrome? Because Krauss and Mason Phelps are, or were, chummy, and no one wants to rock the boat?

This is why I’m completely confused about this list, where it came from, and how those particular names landed on it. I know with 100% certainty that there are other current USEF members with sex offense convictions. They’re not on the list. So how did the list get generated and what is required to get someone’s name on the list? Because it’s not just running a background check on all members, clearly, because I know members with criminal offenses in their background checks that you would expect to have landed them on the list if that’s what was done.

My guess is these are ones who have been reported to the federation officially. I say this with not a speck of joking, you please be our smart lawyer who asks, and if it’s about reporting people serving as trainers/instructors and/or serving at shows eg announcing with records/on the sex offender list, let’s all get on that. I’m also interested if this crosses sports/lists? Like if you’re banned in one are you banned in all sports that utilize safesport?

Yeah, I’d really like more info. Like should we all write to USEF and give them the names of members we know have convictions? Which convictions count? And like you say, do the lists cross apply with other sports?

I wish we had better info about this list. It just appeared with no explanation.

I will write them and ask!

It looks like the SafeSport website (which seems really poorly designed to me) posts links to each NGB’s list of banned individuals. And not everything is linked yet. Which seems silly, because if there’s one overarching body that’s implementing this, you’d think it would be all in one database under them. But maybe just because they haven’t been up and running long enough.

They do offer an option to report directly to them. I’m not sure what would keep any individual from informing them, “Mr. X, who has been convicted of possessing child pornography, is training and coaching junior students at USE show Y.”

This email came from USEF this morning:

Ken Krauss may not be a USE member. Why would he need to be? Announcers aren’t officials, neither are members of the ring crew, etc. I’m not sure how you would keep those off the show grounds. It would be up to the show managers to police that and parents, etc. to boycott a show where the offenders are working. I don’t think that’s going to happen at Wellington.

I don’t think he has announced at any shows in Wellington for a long time.

I was thinking that this morning, and also that it probably will restrict to pros. They say in the email that they are doing background checks but I imagine that is a very limited pool like coaches of teams.

That would make sense—I haven’t been there in a long time, either.

Suddenly John Manning is on the Safe Sport suspension list, as of just a few days ago.

Likely each time they are put on the list, they will appear suddenly until they catch up on all the old offenders and we get to new crimes :frowning:

As is Rob Bielefeld as of last Friday when he was in the ring judging ponies at Devon. Wonder how the USEF is going to handle that one!

Do you think Devon will have him back with Mary Lisa to judge The Wheeler Ring Friday and Saturday? They are the only two other judges listed in the prize list.

I would hope not.
