Salem Saddlery--Big Sale!!!

I’m burned, too…

Just got an email that the blanket that I received a confirmation email about on Friday about is actually NOT in stock - too bad so sad! Grrrrrr. Hope they weren’t trying to increase their customer pool with this sale; I’m sure as heck not going to be buying from them in the near future.

Yep

I agree. I understand running out of items…but within an hour? And a small helmet size? Come on. If you only have a couple of a popular item, maybe it should be in-store only and not on the website (which shows the picture of the wrong helmet anyway). Definitely done with that store.

I wish the website would still give us information on tracking / orders placed. I have one package that shipped Friday - I should’ve saved the tracking info because now I’m a compulsive tracker. And another package, order placed Thursday (same as the first one) - should have shipped, but who knows? Everyone is talking about how their GR8s shipped - my GPA did, but not the GR8 for no reason. I hope it doesn’t get canceled.

I just got an email saying this;

"Thank you very much for your order. Unfortunately these items have already sold out. I will cancel your order for you.

With a copy of my invoice following. I think they are cancelling my entire order! I ordered early Friday and I know for a fact the stuff was available. People that ordered after me are getting their stuff! What’s the deal? I’m totally pissed! I didn’t by things that I need elsewhere because I had ordered them at the sale. I can see why they are going out of business!

I haven’t gotten an e-mail, but hope that my order doesn’t get cancelled!!! I have the e-mail comfirmation, so I hope I get my stuff. (still worried though as my credit card hasn’t been charged yet!)

Were the earlier posts true ~ it’s going to become a BEVALS!

I was going to order - fabulous deals! - but the shipping was goingt o cost more than the order! So it wasn’t really saving me any $$. And nothing big - a book, some leather conditioner, a likit, stuff like that.

well got my GR8 today and it fits perfectly! Happy day. oh and my spur straps  but nothing else. Oh well, at least I have an extra helmet for showing. So sad theyre going to be a bevals…

I called at 3:00 to find if the things that I ordered Sunday were still in stock. The lady who picked up the phone was too busy to speak to me and took down my name and phone number and said she would call me back. So far, I haven’t heard anything. I ordered a solocomb, a corkscrew D ring bit, and a pair of black X-large Heidi boots.

I haven’t gotten an email or a phone call yet. I wonder if it’s still in stock.

I ordered two separate times yesterday, and the first of the orders has been cancelled, with everything out of stock. That included cobalt Ariats and a Fleeceworks half pad. I have a second order of Ariats for my daughter that hasn’t been cancelled, but hasn’t been shipped either. :frowning:

I guess a lot of the posters don’t read all of the replies. As I stated before, the sale is going on because they are cleaning out their inventory as they have been acquired by Bevals. This was confirmed by the sales people there. They are not trying to increase their customer pool. when I went to the store on Sunday it was chaos. I had to wait for parking space. People need to understand that they are not like a Dover Saddlery. It is a moderately sized store–when they get an online order, someone actually goes out on the floor/checks what’s in stock and gathers up the items. The sales people were so busy, I don’t even know if they have/had one person responsible for the online sales. The line at the register was really long, so yes, they have one thing one minute and have it sold out the next. Like I said, they had almost no supplements left (I’m talking maybe 3 buckets total), like 3-4 bottles of hoof dressing, and a few bottles of leather conditioner. They did have a decent amount of splint boots and bell boots left. Many people were buying helmets. They had a bunch of baker sheets and blankets, and a fair amount of medium and heavy blankets–that was at least on Sunday at 1pm. Who knows what is left now!
So please people, give them a break!

I ordered a GPA on Friday and got a confirmation really quick. Friday night I checked back again because I was tempted to order another one but they were all gone. I got an email today comfirming that the helmet shipped out today. I m so happy and I guess lucky that they still had my size because it was a real deal.

I wish I’d gotten to the sale in time (or lived somewhere close enough so that I could actually GO to the store! Strange, 'cause just recently I had a dream that a tack shop was having an enormous sale and I was right in the thick of it).

luise, I think that sometimes people forget that not all website stores are solely that, and a lot of times it is just an “on the side” thing for their brick & mortar store, and as such they can’t always fulfill so many orders during a big sale. (Of course, I am on the other end; I work in a brick & mortar store affiliated with a website, and people constantly come in and wonder why we don’t have the same million billion books in store that are on the site. Bah) Granted, perhaps the sale wasn’t approached in the most sensible way, but how could they have known the sheer volume of online orders they encountered.

Glad some people got to enjoy the deals though, have fun with your purchases!

Then they could have been more responsible with their planning- i.e., making the sale in-store only at first, then putting the unpurchased items on sale online after the in-store rush dies down. Or, bringing in part-time help to run the online orders for a few days. Even when you’re not actively seeking new clients, you ahve to be prepared for them and treat them fairly.

I guess nothing for me?

"Thank you for visiting! Due to the overwhelming response to our sale, our online store will be temporarily closed for a few days.

Please check back later in the week.

Thank you for your patience! "

I just wanted to see if there were Breyers left!!

Frog–try calling. They had Breyers yesterday. Good luck getting through though.

I placed an order on Friday am - lots of good stuff, but all in very different categories. I got an email today saying they were not in stock and would cancel my order boo hoo ! All sorts of things I didn’t really need…sigh.

I’ve yet to even get an email concerning the order I made on Friday morning and now I can’t even check my order status on the website, and forget about actually talking to a person there. I’m generally a pretty patient and understanding person, but when it concerns my credit card, $700, and no contact whatsoever from them, I feel I have a right to be a bit pissed, and so do a bunch of other people.

Yeah, I’m a little concerned myself about my order placed on Friday afternoon- no email, no nothing. My “horse” funds are limited so until I know if this is going through on my credit card, no ebay, no nothing for me. I’m less worried that I get my high dollar items than that the only item I get will be one 3 dollar item with $12 shipping, but I would really like to know SOMETHING…

I got all my stuff Friday (got the email it was sent today) but when I decided to order something else that night it was already gone. But I got a couple other things instead. No real horse stuff, just model horse stuff! LOL it was like Xmas. Happy Birthday to ME!
