I wish someone would post a picture of the Bartsville one and some of the others that don’t have websites. I hate to buy stuff without at least seeing a picture of it.

In the UK, a ratcatcher is a tweed jacket. The likes of which your man who catches rats might wear, as he might be a bit poor and not have nice black melton like the toffs!

No idea why it’s the name of a shirt in the US that is worn without a tie - perhaps in reference to aforementioned bloke and not wearing a collar and tie as everyday wear.

I can snap one of the bartsville ones either today or tomorrow and post it.

Is that a Bartsville Bridle too??

Yep. Its one we use to hunt the green bean in.

LOFF them. Sorry for the craptastic picture though!!

Wow - that’s nice! Can you specify the type of leather or color?

I like that bridle too - but I’m going to ask a stupid question. If you have a horse with a gigantic moose head and no throatlatch, can you work with them to customize a bridle? He looks like your Bodie only… less refined.

Tack of the Day has a “Saddle Pocket” that’s square (7.25" x 7") and is only $15.50. Passable poor man’s sandwich case?

Fine for a trail ride, but I don’t think that would be acceptable for hunting.

I have that saddle pocket (for trail riding and general mucking around when I don’t want to use my endurance-style saddle bags but do want to carry something) and while it is handy, I don’t think it would work for hunting. Besides not being correct, it’s not really heavy duty… it’s sturdy enough for recreational use, but probably not meant for daily use and cleaning, getting splattered with mud, etc. It’s vinyl and plastic, not heavy leather and metal like hunt sandwich cases.

Real scoop revealed!

OK all you samwich cased ladies…(I hate you and I hope you all fall off!!)…but WHAT exactly do you ACTUALLY carry in your cases out on real hunts??..food & beverages? I wonder…and be truthful now…I’ve always thought that I never wanna hunt so long that I can’t go 3 hours without food while hunting. I mean it’s not like ya’ll are ALL diabetics and gotta eat out there! ;) I don’t have a regulation case but have carried…well…candy……and well…water…
So does anybody carry a first aid kit? Tithyews?!! What???
Lets reveal the real scoop please!

I carry baling twine, half a roll of vet wrap, and a multipurpose tool/knife thingy.

Extra strong mints.

Three or four pieces of 12"-16" leather strings & the extra flask.

Runner’s water bottle (small - about 4 ozs) filled with water (which really comes in handy on long hunts), mints, baling twine, wire cutters, extra lightweight gloves, 1 or 2 granola bars, and an extra copy of my hunting license in a plastic baggie.

My cell phone and another copy of my hunting license I keep in my interior jacket pocket, and a doggie tag with name and phone number is attached (permanently) to my guy’s breastplate. I keep my flask in a flask holder on the other side of the saddle.

I’m a whipper in so I could have all sorts of stuff in there
usually a granola bar or two, my flask, a couple pieces of baling twine, a few bandaids, a roll of vetrap or maybe elastikon, binoculars, a hound couple, maybe a small bottle of karo syrup for the hounds, often a small firearm. I think that’s it, I have a water bottle holder that goes on the front of my saddle and I carry my knife/wirecutters on my belt.

I carry baling twine, couplers, vet wrap, hoof pick, & flask. I carried wire cutters last season but due to the limited space I usually had to leave something else behind, like my flask!:frowning: But, I now have a nice set of wire cutters in their own case on the other side. That leaves room for the all important flask.

The link is showing a blanket today. But I do have a little leather ‘English’ saddle bag, think I might have gotten it from Wholesale Tack some years back. I routinely use it for trail riding, it’ll hold GPS, food, and more, and I have a separate leather water bottle holder for the other side.

I have used it for hunting all over the west and lightning has not yet struck me. I’m enough of a rabble rouser I’d use one back east too, if need be.

Wateryglen, I do have a Real Sandwich Case, somewhere in the tack trunk in the garage, that I got in the early 70s. Can’t remember the last time I used it out hunting. But there was a time when I did really truly put a sandwich in it, the sandwich got less mushed than when in my pocket (which became the repository for candy bars). Because we really truly did stay out 5, 6, occasionally 8 hours and you really, truly needed to not go bonk due to lack of nutrition.
