Sarah Palin's Son Stepping on Family Dog

Divisive much…wow…
If you read the article, you’d discover it was the intro and tweet posted in regard to the Palin article. I didn’t write any of it. Nice try though.

Ellen doesn’t have any children so I think the picture was one sent in by a viewer. Still, I agree, she shouldn’t have published it. And the person who took the picture should know better.
Agreed!

It is weird and blech. Very blech.

I just do not understand why people are so obsessed and want to yammer on about people like Palin, Paris Hilton, etc.? And while I think letting this kid stand on the pup (regardless of pet or service dog) is a bad idea and mean to the pup, it’s like it’s more about Palin than animal cruelty.

I agree with you- standing on the dog should have been dealt with, but the hatred toward Palin seems to over rule anything else these days. I don’t get it.

FWIW and for the record, I’m fine with Sarah Palin. Based on the photo, I think she probably just doesn’t realize that it could hurt the dog even if the dog doesn’t try to get away. Hopefully more people will learn from this instance and intervene if their children are stepping on or riding a dog instead of taking a picture or seeing it as cute.

One Twitter user perhaps had the absolute best comeback to the haters who attacked Palin. It is an undeniable fact that gets brushed away by Obamabots.

@SarahPalinUSA Liberals freaking out over a sweet little Palin boy standing on large dog might want to remember that Obama actually ate one

No, KathyS it is your post that I am referring to…as usual you are trying to get posters to react to your name calling so that you can claim to be the victim…yawn another post from the same poster with the same intent…

Good Gravy, don’t you have me on ignore yet…

I have an idea as to maybe why in this instance anyway. I think if she had acknowledged that letting her child stand on the dog wasn’t a good idea and owned up to that, then followed by assuring people that in the future she would do more to educate her child about how to respect and care for his dog this would all have blown over.

Instead, she starts taking pot shots at the president “OMG he ate a dog !!1!!1”, liberals!1!!!, and the people who eat “funky” fish eggs !!1111!!!. People tend to dislike it when someone, instead of owning their mistakes, tries to deflect the attention elsewhere.

I don’t understand the celebrity obsession either but I do have to admit I laughed at the video of Paris getting bucked off a horse. She so royally deserved that one.

I did see that too! LOL!!

I have not read much about any responses by anyone, the only thing I saw was this thread and then the thing about Degeneres doing the same thing on Facebook, so I (thankfully) have not seen the back and forth Eleventyisms

Eleventies!!11!!!1111!!!

Apparently she is giving PETA the middle finger over this. Good for her!

(but no, kids should not be allowed to stand on pets. They won’t be cute and little forever!)

“Obamabots” and “haters” there you go, your name calling…have a great night and I do hope you find your pleasure in pretending to be the victim. We all should have something to aspire to…

I’m sorry but a state governor who was a candidate to be vice president didn’t realize that a 60ish pound child standing on a 65ish pound dog is a very bad idea?? Not buying it.

I think it would have been better if the dog had nipped or given a warning growl at the kid. Clearly his parents aren’t teaching him appropriate interactions with animals, so someone must. Better a growl from a service dog than a mauling from the family mutt.

As far as the ED photo goes. No one should be standing on dogs, but at least that child is significantly lighter.

Now, for the important question: what is this Paris Hilton bronco video and is it available on loop?

Horse could give a rats behind about Paris. I’m no computer whiz but I’ll be someone with a bit of know-how could put this into a gif.

Facebook does allow people to really exhibit their stupidity, doesn’t it?
If Palin had just posted “Yeah, kid was taken off the dog and we are working on getting him to understand he should not do that.” then all but the most rabid Anti’s would have been okay. Instead she attacks the most radical response (PETA) as a straw man and adds in more attacks. The Ellen video was equally stupid. It seems like objections were made, but I don’t know if she made a response - of course she couldn’t have stopped it as it wasn’t her kid, but could have not given the activity an audience as “cute”.

It is the kind of thing that kids will do. But it is the kind of thing that parents must correct.

We have Downs children riding in the special needs program at the barn I board at. None of them would even think of hurting any animal, cat, dog, or horse. Of course, they are taught the right behaviors.

The fact that a child- DS or not- doesn’t understand that he shouldn’t stand on the dog isn’t newsworthy, but it definitely is something that needs parental attention. It shouldn’t have happened, and should never happen again.

The fact that someone was stupid enough to 1. take the picture, and 2. post the picture is far more an issue, for me. Nothing beyond that is shocking- Palin has been displaying her stupidity publicly since the rest of the world realized who Caribou Barbie was. And no, I do not care if she is Republican Democrat, Conservative, or Liberal. She is just an embarrassment.

I agree…and I’m Conservative!

I’m in the “I don’t really see that the huge deal is”. I mean the dog is clearly not bothered by it.

Should he be doing it? No. Should the parents ensure he doesn’t do it again? Probably a good idea. Does it deserve world-wide condemnation and hatred? Nope, not in my opionion.

It was pretty dumb of her to post it. Given the highly polarizing opinions she seems to garner she should have known that this would blow up.
